It's not just the big things, it's the little things that are in some way more irritating to me.

Just got out of the dentist. It's a small practise and I guess the receptionist is off sick as the reception desk still had shutters down, so they were a little bit late opening up. One woman was sitting in waiting room when I arrived. A man came in a little after me.

The dentist came out and opened up the desk.

Guess who quickly jumped up and got there to be dealt with first?

Given threads we've had about public design... I've never driven a 4x4, are they easier or harder to drive if you are shorter than the average man?

PansOtherPeople · 20/09/2014 11:51

Odd isn't it? One would ordinarily hope and expect something else. Obv one very rare example of entitled stuff (but quite important to me), so I'll shut up about it.

PansOtherPeople · 20/09/2014 11:52

I don;t know ABland - never driven one either. Could go some way though.

Bluestocking · 20/09/2014 12:04

Is larrygrylls an actual man? Because if so, the most disturbing thing about this thread is his allegation that he has procreated.

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 20/09/2014 12:06

I know DH had much better visibility than I do from our people mover, for example.

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 20/09/2014 12:08

He's been around a while and has a full back story, Blue, so I'm gojng for yes.

larrygrylls · 20/09/2014 12:15

Yes. What I find disturbing about posters here is that they are very concerned about privilege and entitlement yet are entirely unconcerned about following the rules of a community. I. E no personal attacks. Believing you are too important to follow the rules made for the little people is the definition of privilege.

Misogyny, by the way, is woman hating, not pointing out example of inequality.

EBearhug · 20/09/2014 12:15

I drove my father's old Landrover, but that was a difficult drive for many reasons (it failed its next MOT.) I don't think it could be compared with the sort of thing people do the school run in.

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 20/09/2014 12:16

EBearHug, agree but in my limited experience, I have better visibility in smaller cars and I'm not that small, as women go.

Bluestocking · 20/09/2014 12:16

So that means that an actual XX female, with ovaries and a uterus and everything, was willing to fight her way through the thicket of misogyny, mansplaining and whataboutery to get close enough to "him" (still not 100% convinced) to be impregnated.

Insert Sideshow Bob's "stepping in a rake" noise here.

"Buggies are used as convenient placed for uninterested mothers to park babies while they compare trendy accessories. "

Yeah, nothing to see here.

Buffy, I suspect we'll never be BFFs but try not to misrepresent then extrapolate on anything/everything I post?
'coming from a place of brute misogyny'? Sounds like you need to join Puffins in the site shop queue tbh.

I'm honoured (though slightly bored) that you'd make effort to personally castigate me in two extended posts, Buffy. fwiw if we did meet in RL yes we'd prob. get on reasonably well. I'm fairly gregarious. But if you suggested to anyone who knows me that I 'deny womens emotions or like to dominate proceedings', they would v prob roll their eyes and snigger quietly at you.
As for the rest, eg hate others/womens perspectives...well I cba with those accusations.
Though I'd say it's pretty cheap of you to drag rape victims who are denied a voice, and Reeva S, into your little diatribe tbh.
g'afternoon.

"Buggies are used as convenient placed for uninterested mothers to park babies while they compare trendy accessories. "

Larry, in those baby groups where you felt unwelcome as a man, or whatever it was, did you give off this vibe to the mothers there?

Cos if so, I'm not sure that it was the "as a man" part that was the issue...

MiscellaneousAssortment · 20/09/2014 13:39

The walking towards and giving way one I totally get - but here's the shocking bit, I'm in a mobility scooter!!!

Alot of people, mostly men, play this power game of chicken with me, and are shocked to find out that I don't swerve crazily into the road or tip myself up by trying to dismount a high kerb, or bang into someone else's path when they decide they are far more important than the female cripple (double jeopardy, female and disabled, I'm really not important in their eyes at all).

It fucks me off no end, as i have to stop dead on the pavement and them they stop dead too in front of me, still expecting me to magically transport myself around them.

This is where their arrogance really shows them up, as any other person would (& do frequently!) think for a second and realise that you can't steer on a pin in a mobility scooter, and they do not work the same as a person, but more like an ungainly car. If you stand a few centimeters away from a car, with other cars/ people all around behind and on either side, would a car be able to hop sideways? No? Well just because you have a massive swinging dick and male privaledge,
