Why the fucking fuck is that rapist Ched Evans being released anyway?

I thought that in order to get parole, the minimum you had to do was admit that you are actually guilty of the crime for which you've been imprisoned?

But Evans the rapist hasn't admitted that he's a rapist. He keeps saying he's innocent.

So why is he being released?

Is this normal now?

Do all prisoners automatically get early release for good behaviour even if they keep saying they didn't actually do the crime, therefore proving that the one thing that used to be a necessity for early release - remorse - is definitely missing?

Ched on the other hand, just walked in and stuck himself inside an obviously paralytic woman. After having asked his friend if he could have a go.

Great to see a young man observing the strictest social conventions.

Football is not just another job by any standards. That is a really ludicrous statement.

Interesting though to think about it. If my company hires a convicted rapist, I don't have any right to know that do I. I might be sent away on business trips with him and all the rest of it and have no idea that he's a predator.

At least with Ched I guess everyone knows - even if a lot of them seem to think it's not true. Is it that they think he didn't do what he was convicted of, or if they think what he was convicted of doesn't count as rape, I wonder. Maybe a mix of both.

Hup · 14/08/2014 20:11

I don't think the girls tweets helped though, where she talked if a big pay day coming her way! They will use these in the appeal as they were not used in original case.

CaptChaos · 14/08/2014 20:11

If he worked in a bank, or an accountants or an insurance broker, do you think he would be welcomed back, no questions asked, Mengog? Do you think an office manager would go and visit his convicted rapist employee in prison?

Why do you think that a professional soccer player should be able to wander back into his old job having served time for rape, having no remorse for his crime, having, if not positively encouraged his fans to hound his victim, then not telling them to leave her alone? Football isn't just another job. Do give your head a wobble.

His manager is saying that he will be wanting to send the rapist into schools. You'd be happy to have a convicted rapist having access to your children then?

thecageisfull · 14/08/2014 20:12

what is the intention of pretending it will be twice as long as it is? so it looks better in the press but doesn't overcrowd the prisons so much?

So prison governors can use loss of remission for offences that would otherwise have to go back to court. Things like drug offences or assault committed inside which is not so bad as to warrant a whole new trial.

I was thinking about the footballing thing. Do professional footballers not usually do things for their club eg charity type things, or visiting the club's youth team, or even just leading a child out onto the pitch on match day. Would a convicted rapist not be on the sex offenders register and therefore not allowed to be around children in such a capacity? In which case his conviction should very much affect him earning his living as a footballer.

Or does it not quite work like that?

EveDallasRetd · 14/08/2014 20:14

There is no appeal Hup. That was denied last year.

It was never proved that she tweeted that. Ched Evans supporters keep saying rubbish like that, but when asked to prove it, can't.

treaclesoda · 14/08/2014 20:16

cross posted with Capt Chaos about the children thing.

Professional footballers are role models for boys and young men, that's just a fact.

Hence there are things like "bringing the game into disrepute". It is frequently mentioned when footballers are racist or violent (proper violence against men I mean not non-violence against women like rape) that they are role models and thus their behaviour is important, and when it fails to reach an appropriate standard action must be taken.

He needs to murder his victim, is the answer I'm afraid.

CaptChaos · 14/08/2014 20:25

I wonder how the sponsors John Holland Sales have reacted to their company name being used to sponsor a rapist?

It would be down to the company would it not. If his old company didn't want him, he then should surely be able to join another one.

Evans is a 10 million pound assest. They could sack him, but another club would snap him up without a doubt.

I'm trying to understand the argument. Is it that he shouldn't play for Sheffield United, or he shouldn't be allowed to play football, anywhere, ever again.

CaptChaos · 14/08/2014 20:27

Just there have been an eye popping number of posts on the subject which start with the words...

'If he really is guilty.....'

He is one a tiny number of men who have actually been convicted. The burden of proof for rape is arguably higher than it is for any other crime, as they spend half their time trying to decide if a crime has actually taken place, and then look at who might be responsible.

Hup · 14/08/2014 20:28

Nobody actually knows what state she was in ....she was clearly sober enough on entering the hotel to walk straight and bend down to pick something up. There is no evidence of further drinking. The videos taken outside were inconclusive and nothing could be ascertained. Both men admitted sex with her despite no forensic evidence. She did not report rape .... If I was looking at an appeal I would be looking at these things. What it boils down to is a young girl being taken advantage of by a couple of men who should have known better, and the local police deciding to Persue that it was rape. I don't think she has helped herself by her tweets - she deleted messages from Facebook during the time she was in the room, that she had sent to friends as well .... So she must have been sober enough to know what she was doing there - and to delete them.
He has been found guilty but I wouldn't be surprised if a second appeal found him innocent for these reasons. The whole thing hinges on reasonable doubt I guess.

As I said earlier as someone who was raped in similar circumstances (although stone cold sober to start with) I have just looked at the case from all angles. I had a drink spiked, which was her original complaint ... Although no evidence of this was found. Very sad, especially for Evan's naive girlfriend.

Is there a health and safety aspect to this. Thinking about work. If my company sends me away for work with a man who they know is a convicted rapist and he rapes me, have they failed in their duty of care to me as my employer?

I wonder if this has ever come up. Sorry off topic but interesting.
