This has been started in response to the massacre and anti women manifesto by Elliot Rodgers. Makes for interesting reading...

Almost every tweet I have read with that hashtag has been utterly irrelevant to me.
So it actually makes me quite cross. I have never felt a victim of misogyny. I have done exactly what I want with my life, I don't live in fear and I have never in my life been harassed by anyone male or female. So #nonotallwomen.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 28/05/2014 11:13

So you're not angry that so many others have experienced such things Magna?
You're cross because...they write about it?

MagnaCharge · 28/05/2014 11:17

No

MagnaCharge · 28/05/2014 11:17

It is

MagnaCharge · 28/05/2014 11:17

B

MagnaCharge · 28/05/2014 11:18

Bandwagon jumping. I guarantee the vast majority of tweeters have not only not experienced it but even more don't know what it is.

MagnaCharge · 28/05/2014 11:20

And cross because it assumes things about me. I am not a weak victim, I am a strong person whi doesn't put up with any crap and am any man's equal.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 28/05/2014 11:26

I guarantee the vast majority of tweeters have not only not experienced it but even more don't know what it is.

Wow...

RamsaySnowsSausage · 28/05/2014 11:28

A lot of it is facts and statistics. A lot of it is personal experience.

How can statistics and experience be 'bandwgon jumping'? How bizarre.

Here's the first on my feed just now 'Because as many as 75 percent of the imprisoned women in Pakistan are behind bars for the “crime” of being a victim of rape #YesAllWomen'

Count yourself bloody lucky that "been utterly irrelevant to" me, Magna. Shame you can't see past your own misogyny-free life to feel comfortable allowing others to express their issues.

It's a sad and very powerful hashtag and after encountering so much sexist shite regarding Elliot Rodger, I find it really encouraging to see that there are at least a million people ready to do this little thing to stand up to it.

AskBasil · 28/05/2014 11:47

So you're calling other women liars MagnaCharge? When they talk about the harassment they have experienced from men, your response is that they are lying?

And then you claim not to have been affected by misogyny?

Grin

You go girl. Hmm

Okay thanks for the advice.

DonkeySkin · 28/05/2014 12:11

That's some impressive magical thinking there, MagnaCharge. Do you also believe you could fly if you just stopped believing in gravity?

RamsaySnowsSausage · 28/05/2014 12:18

The whole reason feminism exists is because women feel inferior

Erm, you've got that completely wrong. It exists because women are treated as inferior but know they are not.

Man-hating, utterly pathetic loonies? How bloody dare you. What an ignorant and unfounded insult. Grow a back bone? Yeah, ok, go tell that to Meriam Ibrahim or 12 year old me.

Only your inferiority complex gives men power over you

Ah, that's the only thing, is it? Must have imagined systemic oppression. Cheers for the advice. You could have at least signed of with 'Man up'...I get the feeling you're not really trying.

AskBasil · 28/05/2014 12:28

Oh FGS.

Get back to your revision and stop wasting the grown-up's time.

scallopsrgreat · 28/05/2014 12:38

Yeah women who are raped and sexually assaulted by men only have that happen because we have inferiority complexes. Way to go with the victim blaming there.

But no, you're not affected by misogyny At. All.

scallopsrgreat · 28/05/2014 13:32

Saw this image tweeted by Martha Plimpton which really shows the ludicrous nature of Magna's loony men-haters statements.

Men are sexually violent towards women. This isn't something that is going to go away because we think we are equal. If anything, women believing we are equal, acting as though we are equal, demanding we be treated as equal brings on a backlash of violence from men as Rodgers has demonstrated in such horrific style.

Taking that stat to its logical conclusion.

Women are far more likely to be raped by a partner than a stranger. So they should be more afraid when they are in bed at night with their partner, than when they are walking down a dark street at 3am.

You can actually take rape out of the equation. Women are far more likely to be attacked generally by a friend/family member. So by that logic they should be in fear of everyman they know.

RamsaySnowsSausage · 28/05/2014 16:23

Well, yeah, Mengog read the recent thread about fearing men.

sausageeggbacon11 · 28/05/2014 16:42

First world problem, thinking tweets will make any difference to what happens in the world.

There are mass shootings every two weeks according to the FBI yet hardly any get attention outside of the local media.

Meanwhile in the 3rd world thousands die daily to violence and that never makes the press. One guy spends a year preparing to commit suicide by cop (he would have known that the only way out for him would be being shot) and writes about being aggrieved and it is world wide news.

Don't get me wrong the shooting of anyone is sickening but these people who do these mass killings do it wanting to go out with mass attention in the press so they will do something that will draw press attention. In a year's time there ill be 20 plus mass shootings in the states and this will still be the one that people remember.
