just what the title says really....

I have read a few contributors, and I really want to point to them and ask 'what are YOU doing here?' Grin but its not on is it

OP posts:

I saw that, AF. It made me sad in my heart.

I lurk more than post. I have learned a lot, nodded in agreement a lot and also got so cross I've sworn at the screen a lot. When I was younger I didn't need to be a feminist. Now I see things differently.

AnyFucker · 19/06/2012 22:48

"you are a hideous troll"

that'll stop debate Grin

AnyFucker · 19/06/2012 22:49

^^ that said to me in the last 24 hours

Beachcomber · 19/06/2012 22:49

Juggling I'm seem to be breaking my rule of never discussing anything personal on MN lest it be used against me (I'm only half joking), at the moment.

I'm in a heteronormative set up. I live with a man, we are married.

I accept that this is contradictory to my politics.

AyeRobot · 19/06/2012 22:52

What drew me in were the long threads, meandering around the issues, exploring the nuances, embracing the similarities and nudging at the differences. The revelation that posters were starting not from a position of an imagined equality, but from a recognition that we aren't there yet. And that women-centered thinking was what it was all about. That threads about issues that affect women didn't have to include men as a default.

The drift away from that keep me away. Sad

AnyFucker · 19/06/2012 22:54

I have had my appearance mocked, my marriage ripped apart, my motives for helping women to see they don't have to stay in abusive relationships ridiculed, the location of my husband's bollocks questioned, and I could go on

all in the last few days, and it's a regular occurence

some regulars on the Fem board get it worse than me

a few "erm, what exactly are you doing/saying here, in this female-dominated space?" comments doesn't equate

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 19/06/2012 22:57

AF - That is shit really.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 19/06/2012 22:58

I was just interested to find out if many RadFems are in relationships with men ( partly perhaps because like you I also live with a man ) I guess some more radical feminists might avoid it, but maybe they have a different label ? I wasn't meaning to either be challenging of anyone's situation or politics, or to be nosey!

On the whole I think feminists should aim to stick together a bit under a broad umbrella as possibly that will be more supportive to more women ?

I realise that for some posters I represent all that is wrong with the world just by being a man

that isn't true

It actually is. Not you maybe, but some.

namechangeguy · 19/06/2012 23:00

I come her because I enjoy discussing politics, and I love a good ruck Grin

AnyFucker · 19/06/2012 23:00

it is, Eats, and I am not exaggerating

I have also had abusive pm's.

Am taking a bit of a dump on this thread just now, and it's not all about me, but it pisses me off mightily when this board gets a trouncing for being "unfriendly"

it really is a joke

Beachcomber · 19/06/2012 23:01

yes to what you say Aye and AF.

I think the day I got sick of this place was when it I was attacked as being a man hater and I found myself (what was I thinking?!) explaining that the men in my life are not so bad.

I effing well took offence, not for me but for my dad and my DH.

And then I thought 'what sort of feminist space is this?'. And it has never been the same since.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 19/06/2012 23:04

Juggling - there are a very small group of radfems who think no radfem should be in a relationship with a man. You should either be with a woman or not in a relationship at all. But that is very much a minority view.

Most radfems believe in analysing and acknowledging the reality of patriarchy, but don't believe in criticising individual women for the choices they make. That includes living or being married to a man, wearing make up, etc. So yes there are plenty of radfems who live with men. Not a barrier to being a radfem at all as long as you understand how Het relationships are a crucial way of oppressing women on a day to day basis.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 19/06/2012 23:09

AF - Its is those who are clearest with a radfem analysis or even just a decent feminist analysis, who I see getting routinely attacked on this board.

I don't know why, but until tonight I honestly thought you were really right wing?? I must have got you mixed up with someone else!

AnyFucker · 19/06/2012 23:11

are you kidding me, Eats ? Grin

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 19/06/2012 23:11

Well, thanks for your friendly company all - I think I'll call it a night now - See you again soon I hope x

AnyFucker · 19/06/2012 23:12

Beachcomber · 19/06/2012 23:14

Night Juggling.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 19/06/2012 23:14

No AF I'm not - embarassed to say. The thing is you have such a distinctive name. I saw on fb that you are friends with someone here and I was astounded - I thought why is she friends with that right wing sod. I don't know where I got that idea now???

Night juggling. Look forward to talking to you again soon in FWR

namechangeguy · 19/06/2012 23:15

Juggling, here is a recent article by a radfem that got a few feminist back up when it comes to choosing a suitable relationship;

Beachcomber · 19/06/2012 23:15

Eats are you possibly confusing AnyFucker with smallwhitecat?

Beachcomber · 19/06/2012 23:17

I hate that facepalm thing thing but I think I just did it at your post namechangeguy.

Would you like a bigger stick with which to stir the shit?

AnyFucker · 19/06/2012 23:18

Eats are you referring to an unfortunate incident with someone with the initials DP ? Grin

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 23:18

Hasn't that Julie Bindel article already been posted this week?

Beachcomber · 19/06/2012 23:19

Ah!
