Sometimes people come here from Active Convos attracted by the thread title not the section!

Not me, I come here On purpose!

bejeezusWC · 19/06/2012 11:43

oh sweet i never use active convos...i didnt realise that

OP posts:
Hullygully · 19/06/2012 11:48

cos they want a ruck?

CaramelTree · 19/06/2012 11:53

I think it is also the 'home' section of some posters. If you particularly like or dislike a poster that you come across in chat, and you look up the threads they're on, you can may then follow them to their 'home' section and join in there.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 19/06/2012 12:17

I always heave an inner sigh of disappointment when I see an interesting FWR thread appear in active convos - 3-5 minutes later - usually a ruck with lots of anti feminist views. But sorry I know you weren't asking me on this thread

thechairmanmeow · 19/06/2012 13:43

well i do support feminism, but if your still interested i come here to discuss the finer points about feminism. i dont agree with all the veiws of some of the radfems but that doesnt mean i dont support feminism.

some people have said they find my tome adversarial, but quite frankly i have to bite back or i'll get eaten alive, if your a guy on these threads your seen as fair game for ridicule and insults.

also, i have changed my mind on a few things since i've been here, espescialy about rape myths and the supprising amout of DV there is around it seems.

bejeezusWC · 19/06/2012 13:48

what? actually EATEN alive? Grin

Thank you for your reply
Are you a feminist?

OP posts:
thechairmanmeow · 19/06/2012 13:53

well i would say so but that in itself can cause problems, i have to say i'm pro-femimist.

allthough i would say personaly that feminism is a collection of veiws, ideas and opinions that anyone can hold

Leithlurker · 19/06/2012 13:53

Everything the Chairmanmeow said. Also to show that things are very rarely black or white.

bejeezusWC · 19/06/2012 13:54

Also to show that things are very rarely black or white

can you expand on this?

OP posts:
bejeezusWC · 19/06/2012 13:55

i dont know anyone who says you have to be a woman to be a feminist Confused

Has it been said on here?

OP posts:
MrGin · 19/06/2012 14:08

I lurk here now and again. I find it educational and quite amusing, well some of it at least. Some posts are like an extended scene from 'The Life of Brian'. The massive Radfem vs Transgender discussions being a case in point.

I wouldn't dream of posting in here though.

And I have been called a feminist a number of times over the last year on MN. But that's only through expressing support for equality, I don't actively campaign on any issues.

bejeezusWC · 19/06/2012 14:13

so....you 2s come here to show us things and for comedy value? Confused

OP posts:
GwennieF · 19/06/2012 14:14

I come to read interesting looking threads, I very rarely post. I would not call myself a feminist but I do find myself agreeing with more and more that I read in this section.

bejeezusWC · 19/06/2012 14:15

gwennie via active convos?

OP posts:
GwennieF · 19/06/2012 14:24

Generally, yes. I sometimes come straight here if I've started reading a thread and want to read the rest of it and have forgotten to add it to 'watch'.

thechairmanmeow · 19/06/2012 14:29

yes it has been said

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/1245350-Silly-question-maybe-can-a-man-be-a-feminist/AllOnOnePage

dittany, alice, and there are more who say a man cannot be a feminist.

MrGin · 19/06/2012 14:30

so....you 2s come here to show us things and for comedy value?

Well no, but if you want to be selective about how you read a post you could think that.

Hullygully · 19/06/2012 14:30

can you do that as a link?

TheRhubarb · 19/06/2012 14:30

Isn't it obvious?

If a man who does not believe in feminism comes onto a feminism thread it's probably to goade.

I should imagine with this thread title you'll start getting them round about page 3.

Some people just love a good fight and think that feminists are an easy target (i.e. quick to respond and react).

I lurk and sometimes post if a thread title catches my eye, but not if it's more than 300 posts in. There's no point, my post would be lost amongst the minions!

HighBrows · 19/06/2012 14:31

This part of Mumsnet is my first port of call. I rarely post here but I love to read the discussions and find for the most part this is a mine of information.

I'm female and a feminist so I love this section. I should post more.

TheRhubarb · 19/06/2012 14:32

Hmmm, I didn't notice the "show us" in either post? Confused

Firawla · 19/06/2012 14:33

I lurk in this section, don't really post, don't agree with all aspects of everything that comes under feminism but I care alot about certain feminist/female issues, and am slightly interested in feminism as a whole, more than I used to be but wouldn't say I identify myself fully as a feminist.. I just read the threads as food for thought really. Have had disagreements with some feminist posters in other sections before, but not in here cos I just read

I'm not a man btw!! but just thought id answer as i do come in here but am not a 'proper feminist'

thechairmanmeow · 19/06/2012 14:34

i dont know how to hully, sorry
