Thread prompted by one in AIBU ...

? Women's performance is always evaluated separately from their appearance.
? Women are proportionally represented at all levels in government.
? Half of all CEOs are women, matched equally with men by corporate worth and reward packages.
? Women are proportionally represented at all levels in the judiciary.
? Women carry equal weight in the military and law-enforcement services.
? Half of all wealth is owned by women.
? Women's fertility is not given as an excuse for their disenfrachisement.
? No woman is blamed for her own rape.
? Mainstream pornography does not promote violence against women.
? Mainstream media do not promote the sexualisation of women.
? No woman is expected to tolerate violence against her person.

That'll do for starters.

As a free extra: I will accept that men's rights movements have equal validity when ...

? All of the above.
? Men accept full responsibility, of all kinds, for all of their children, as automatically as women do.

"rape happens because of sick men..."

And the female rapists?

Rape is a crime when perpetrated by any person. Rape is a crime of power where sex is the weapon. Rape perpetrated by women is still a crime. The statistic of women rapists are very low but not to be dismissed as still being very traumatic for the victim, male or female. All rapists are abhorrent but female rapists are not related to being a feminist To bring femal rapists into a thread discussing feminism is simply a straw man.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 27/12/2011 01:29

mcp I did think that you read garlic wrongly

although this thread is so fucked up with post xmas madness, I am not clear why anyone sensible is still posting on it

< takes own cue and fucks off >

WorkingClassMum

I understand it very well, thanks.
I have worked with rapists and murderers (some of them very profile cases) for the last twenty years.
I have spoken to them at length. Sometimes it's about power, sometimes it's about sex, sometimes it's about opportunity, sometimes it's an added attraction whilst on the rob - that's from the horses' mouths, so to speak.

Mumcentreplus · 27/12/2011 01:32

hahaha..

garlicnutcracker · 27/12/2011 01:34

Thank you for the MUCH better reply about female rapists, WCM!

MJ, in my view a large part of the problem you describe is bent economics. Our welfare system is basically topping-up breadline wages. No matter how you cut it, an average family's always going to be making an uneasy compromise between having a family life and paying for same.

Were it not for this more pervasive problem, though, the gender issues would still get in the way because of the gender pay gap and institutional sexism. It's perfectly possible to run a successful company on flexible hours & equal concessions - many do - but social & business expectations inflict needless conflict on the majority of families.

This is one of my soapboxes so I'd better shut up now!

Boffyflow, your exposure to rapists seems to have left you with an unusual view of male sexuality.

Have you ever wondered if all your male relatives are rapists? Can you see why I'm asking?

OP posts:
Lackree · 27/12/2011 01:37

I'm just a particularly PC person, I didn't mean anything by it - simply suggesting that even in passing, or in an informal setting we shouldn't start a description of rapists with the most associated gender.

garlicnutcracker · 27/12/2011 01:38

I was just thinking I should knock off about now, too.

Shame, this thread's fun ... it'll all look a bit hungover in the morning, no doubt.
Night!

And "a dick cover" ruins sex, and they don't fit well endowed men either.

Fuck me - haven't read rest of thread yet - but thank you, thank you HC for providing me with the best laugh I've had all Christmas. (After I damn near choked on my pavlova and raspberries and snorted cream up my nose in what was a quite spectacular guffaw).

Ahhh, bless.

Why is it always CEO's?
There are probably far more premiere league footballers who get paid more than CEO's and what proportion of women are there in football?.I mean how hard can it be to kick a pig's bladder about?

WilsonFrickett · 27/12/2011 10:57

Boffy I tootled off to bed. Thanks for answering my question, but you do know that most people know the person who rapes them, don't you? The 'random' street attack scenario is very rare. You may also wish to add into that the fact that many women have to live in 'the roughest parts of your city' and I believe they actually do need to move about to, you know, go to the shops and college and work and stuff.

Also, your assertion that men are 'wired differently' is absolutely offensive to men who do not rape - the majority of men, in fact.

Finally, this:

The people who should take personal responsiblity for rape are rapists.

-----------
In the UK because of the definition of rape there are no female rapists.

It is different in other parts of the world.

GN very interesting link - I'll pick it up with you later am about to enjoy last day of drinking I have guests.

PamBeesly · 27/12/2011 14:13

I will stop being a feminist when everyone in society believes in and works towards the equality of genders. Truly believes, not just some lip service bollocks.

HC where I live (Ireland) I cannot legally obtain an abortion therefore if I become pregnant (and just so you know I'd become pregnant through sex with a man via HIS ejaculation/sperm)and wanted to terminate my pregnancy I'd have to travel to the UK. Do you think Irish men should therefore have more responsibility for contracepton than men in countries where abortion is legal, in England for example?

Also as a courtesy to you I'll let you in on a little secret, they make condoms in Large and Xtra-Large....even though I doubt this information will be useful to you.

Also I think its sad you think of sex in terms of your own pleasure, 'dick covers ruin sex' Its sad it has to be all physical for YOU, you poor misfortune...

lollygag · 27/12/2011 16:58

I don't mean to sound thick but are you sure they make condoms in large and extra large? I mean is that like continental shoe sizes? It beggars belief unless i'm missing out on something.

PamBeesly · 27/12/2011 17:04

condoms I would just be wary that if you use a condom that is slightly too big it could fall off. I always see them in Spar and Tesco....maybe there is more call for them here in Ireland Grin or maybe some men just like buying them bigger!
Sorry for thread derail OP. I'm miffed the VAT on condoms is still 13.5% in Ireland, I always thought they should be free, along with sanitary towels.

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 27/12/2011 17:06

It doesn't really matter lollygag. HC can avoid not getting a woman pregnant or having children by not sticking his dick in her. After all it isn't obligatory.

SolidGoldStockingFilla · 27/12/2011 17:15

Oh Let's see:
Men are not wired differently from human beings ie unable to cope with the idea that it's actually not OK to do stuff to other people without their consent. Psychopaths are in fact 'wired differently' and think it's OK to harm other people because other people are less important than the psychopath's own immediate wishes.
Unless you are quite happy with the idea that conception might take place, you should either ensure that you are using a contraceptive method or avoid PIV sex and enjoy all the other sexual things you can do instead.

I won't stop being a feminist when those ideas are common, but it might make me get a little bit nearer slacking off, IYSWIM.
