Eh? I thought being delicate was a good idea with all babies, because they're babies?

Gosh - poor Beckhams - he's just overwhelmed by a baby and totally in love - think most of us with dc's have felt that way.

And really mean comments about VB not being able to read To Kill a MockingBird - honestly she does run a pretty good business so am guessing she'd be ok to read that book.

But hey its easier to sneer at her and bask in your own intellectual superiority I guess.

He's not exactly a parenting expert, is he? I'm sure lots of perfectly normal people would say silly stuff like that if asked to make a statement about what it was like having a baby girl after 3 boys, 3 days after the birth.

Parenting tiny babies differently because of their sex is not ideal but you didn't really expect him to have read Delusions of Gender.

Nothing wrong with the name, better than living in Spain and calling a boy Cruz.

Another Beckham supporter here, I'm afraid. I don't think this thread is turning out as panned is it? Give them a break those that are slagging them off. Of course they have intellect, how could they have got were they are otherwise? And, even if they are as thick as shit what has it got to do with anyone? They are a tight family unit. They do loads for charity that we will never know about. When home he regularly answers his door to little kids seeking autographs. They visit their childrens ward when they can. They use the nhs, remember the middle one has epilepsy? She goes to her local M and S for gods sake!!! What you see in the mags and what goes on in rl surely you all know they are two different things? You can see that?

Realistically, she's got a load of brothers. I'm sure she'll get plenty of rough play in whether that's what her parents plan for or not.

(I also really like her name. It's fairly common in America so hardly a piss-take name.)

If she's anything like my Dd - youngest with 2 older brothers - she'll be the most fearless/roughest one of the lot.

And i like the fact they just put photos of her on fb/twitter rather than selling them to a magazine.

Can you tell I rather like the Beckhams Blush

"Of course they have intellect, how could they have got were they are otherwise"

By being intelligent enough to listen to people they know are cleverer than them.

Like the queen.

I don't care if they're clever or not tbh. In fact, I find myself not caring v. much about them at all. But it irritates the fuck out of me when people say other people must be intelligent if they're successful. Our culture hates intelligent people, it's deeply anti-intellectual and quite often the market has no use for intelligence per se. For all I know DB may be reading Tolstoy in the original Russian in his spare time, but if he were and everyone knew about it, I doubt if he would be quite so popular.

I think she's smart She can't sing but she is intelligent and funny

I think VB is smart too noddy and much maligned too for some reason. But like HerBex I am failing to care too much about either of them. The remark by DB was incorrect, and certainly thoughtless but I doubt he applies much feminist analysis to any of his remarks Grin.

That's not true bex, what about Stephen Fry? How come he's so popular then? how come millions of us tune in to watch Have I got News for You? If we only worshipped thick people? It's not saying much about us as a nation, is it?

Yes but he's just one person, they have to let a few intellectuals in, just to vary the tone (David Mitchell is another, far more modest and probably cleverer, but that's just my prejudice).

If you look at all our public figures, I bet the stupid ones outnumber the clever ones. Not that I've counted, that would be a very long and boring job. Grin

Massive difference between intellect and intelligence.

DB has the latter in spades.
