Was Bristol Palin raped?

darleneoconnor · 20/06/2011 11:16

according to this bristol palin was so drunk when she conceived her son that she doesn't remember having sex.

Sounds like rape to me.

Then she was basically 'forced' to marry her rapist? WTF! Sometimes America sounds more like the middle east!

Quite a few forums are discussing this, with some

disgusting rape myths on this forum

Macaroona, yes, the bit about "decisions she made" does sound very vague. Maybe she drunkenly consented and regrets that. Maybe she regrets telling her mother she was staying round a friends (or whatever she told SP) and thus lying. Maybe she regrets the underage drinking. Maybe it's a combination. We just don't know.

Well, I'm voting for I've believed her story all along.

Whether it was rape, only BP can clear that up. But she can't be forced into doing so.

MJ, please double check... Where have I called anyone "anti-feminist" or male rights activists?

I have mentioned misogyny and rape apologists, but only when that is seriously felt that is the vibe I am getting. I most certainly have not been "mudslinging" everyone who disagrees with me Hmm

I think it's not unreasonable to assume that she hasn't necessarily shared every tiny detail with us, the readers of her autobiography. The language is deliberately vague - she may have been raped, been furious about it, wanted to disclose it in the book, but been told not to by her family and lawyers. She may have discussed what happened with Levi and have hazy details come back to her, realised she had consented whilst drunk and been furious with Levi for taking advantage of her. It's such an impossible situation to judge IMO. I'd be surprised if Levi doesn't tell us a different version in his book that shows him in a better light. Palin lawyers will definitely be crawling over his book before its release. I am pretty sure that whether we like it or not, Bristol's experience would have some kind of effect on Palin's political campaign that it would be foolish of us to ignore. The book would not have been released without her mum's blessing.

Oi SGM! Get back here. I still think the pressure politically she was under would affect what she chose to share in the book (after all very few women/girls end up telling anyone about their negative sexual experiences, far less releasing a book about it!)

AAARGGGHHHH I give up Dittany, you win. You don't want a discussion. I have no idea why I keep trying to engage with you.

"I think"

"I feel"

So much yadda yadda. Meaningless.
