The way I am reading this is he is that firstly he is sorry for being unfaithful to whoever he was with at the time - ok I get that.

But I am finding this a little creepy on other levels because I think if you apologise to your groupies, it implies you think you were taking advantage of them at the time? Or is it that he misled them all into thinking they were his only partner (at a rate of 3 a day, that'd be hard to do).

(please MN lawyers note I am not saying that Mick Hucknall has done anything wrong...)

Ewe imo the concept of sex addiction is a crock of shit. It's a handy phrase for someone who fails to understand it's a two-way process though. Addicted to abusing others for own pleasure - oh yes, you require understanding and empathy

I do think there are men who just love variety, love having sex with women and the intimacy and yes, the 'chase' and can be fairly bemused if they leave a trail of broken hearts behind them. I did have an experience with a guy at college like this - he was gorgeous and an 'artist' type, had loads of women friends and seemed unable to help himself forming often overlapping relationships, and having flings left right and centre. I fell temporarily head over heels in lust with him, and got hurt, and he felt awful but couldn't help himself from chasing the next woman he became obsessed with. I really don't think he was selfish as such - I think of his type as a women-lover, he wanted to 'spread the love' I think He was always a complete gentleman though. More Russell Brand than MH.

In the original article on the Guardian website it explains that he was also an alcoholic, he has clearly undergone a lot of counselling/rehab and is just trying to apologise. Better than doing nothing and continuing to behave badly, not as good as not doing it in the first place of course.

And women too. Some women like to sleep with lots of different men, experiment, have fun, cheat, hurt people. All of it. They're not all crying because a man did it to them.

Some people like to engage in this kind of activity.

Anyway I think it's good manners (avoiding gendered adjectives like gentlemanly) to not discuss these things publicly, only shows MH up, not the women. Or shouldn't do.

To be absolutely fair to Mick Hucknal he was accused of rape but never properly charged, wasn't he? The case was withdrawn in 24 hours and he was with friends at the time the rape was supposed to have happened.

People are falsely accused and it's really unfair to suggest he is a rapist when no case ever made it to trial/court.

I actually used to quite fancy Mick Hucknall when I was about 17. I thought his voice was wonderful in the early days.
