I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

Hi... I had my smear test 2 weeks ago... getting more anxious by the day. What roughly is the waiting time at the moment or does it depend on area?

Butterflykiss00 · 25/10/2019 09:15

@ohhahhjustalittlebit I think it's the area, but usually 2-4 weeks xx

Hi ladies. I've got my smear results and I have HPV and cell changes in my cervix called 'high grade (moderate) dyskaryosis'. I've got an appointment for a colposcopy on Tuesday.
I'm totally prepared the the colposcopy but I have no idea what this high grade dyskaryosis means.
I've had problems with reoccurring thrush and BV. I've also had a couple of issues with peeing blood. I had a cystoscopy and a scan for that and nothing was found. I can find sex painful and I often bleed during sex. I'm absolutely dreading if it's not the best news. Please talk me down!!! Thanks

catnidge · 28/10/2019 06:10

Dyskaryosis just means abnormal cells marybear. The important thing to remember is that most abnormal cells are precancerous.

The colposcopist should be able to explain more about your specific situation on Tuesday.
Make sure you tell them the info re the bleeding.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Catnidge, I'm trying to not over think it. I will make sure I tell them about the bleeding. Thank you Smile

Hi Ladies, maybe not quite the right place for this but I’m kind of in the waiting game regarding some worrying symptoms down there and needed a place to come chat about it.

Been having brown discharge on and off in between my periods for my last 3 cycles. Have been to the docs twice, the first time she had a look up there and took some swabs (but no smear!?) and said it was a bit bloody up there but that my cervix looked fine. Spotting stopped for a week, had an early period then after that period I had 3 days of mid cycle brown spotting again!

Went to the docs straight away and got a bloke doctor who basically went ‘Errrr, I have no idea what I’m doing, but I think I’ll send you for an ultrasound, let me check with the female doctor here first though.’ She nixed the ultrasound and told me to come back in a week if the bleeding hadn’t stopped.

It did stop for a whole week, but now here I am again, a week after my period ended with brown discharge again. Had sex for the first time in months last night and there were tiny bits of fresh blood in the discharge afterwards so now I’m shitting myself. Can’t get an appointment at the docs until the 11th November 😔

I’m so worried...

catnidge · 02/11/2019 10:07

Hi rosecat I'm not sure why they haven't carried out the scan referral. Did they give a reason why?

I had abnormal brown bloody discharge over a 3 month period. I was called for a routine smear and mentioned it to the nurse. She sent me straight to GP who referred me for further tests.

I think I would go back again and ask for a scan. It may be something very simple like a polyp bleeding but I still think it should be checked out.

Rosecat22 · 02/11/2019 11:06

@catnidge was your discharge constant? Mine seems to be happening for a few days mid cycle then it will go away for over a week, then pop back up soon after my period.

I’m absolutely pushing for further investigation when I go on the 11th.

catnidge · 02/11/2019 11:55

Mine was fairly constant for a 3 month period. Then it stopped for a while then started up again.
Hopefully it's nothing to worry about but it would be nice to be reassured.
