I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

@catnidge I’m so sorry to read this. I hope you have plenty of support IRL. I can offer a handhold over the internet Flowers

catnidge · 10/09/2019 20:08

@malibucyprus thank you so much. I do have lots of support but am waiting to tell my children when I know the exact cancer, as it is in two places and the treatment plan. I haven't told friends yet because I want my children to know first. Work know and have veen fab.
Thank you so much for the handhold, it really helps.

Malibucyprus · 17/09/2019 11:55

@Hidingtonothing did you get your results yet? I think you and I have been waiting a similar length of time. I haven't had mine yet.

@catnidge thinking of you xx

whythough · 18/09/2019 18:59

@Ellabella989 just wondering if all your results were ok. I had my smear and bled
Quite a lot I'm really worried

matildawormwoood · 18/09/2019 20:16

@catnidge Thinking of you x

I had my colposcopy yesterday and biopsy taken, so just a waiting game for results now.

longtompot · 18/09/2019 20:44

I'm having yet another follow up test a week on Friday, as the first one came back as inconclusive. This also happened at my previous smear test about 5 years ago, so a little annoying. But thinking about it, that last one I had polyps which is why the results were affected. I don't think I have them again as I had a coil fitted 3 months ago, which is when I had this smear, and the gp didn't mention anything Hmm

Hidingtonothing · 19/09/2019 15:52

Lost you all for a while there, thread had dropped off my 'threads I'm on' list. Still no results, rang GP again who advised me to ring Cytology at the hospital. Rang them, got told off as they 'don't have patient contact' so docs shouldn't have told me to ring them apparently but did at least find out that there is an 8-10 week delay here (West Midlands) if that's helpful to anyone else. It's been 6 weeks since my smear so guess I have a bit longer to wait 🙁

Hidingtonothing · 19/09/2019 15:54

Just caught up, Flowers catnidge

Lou0390 · 20/09/2019 13:06

I received my results today and they were negative. I will be asking about the break through bleeding though. Thank you everyone for your support

Butterflykiss00 · 20/09/2019 22:01

@matildawormwoood how long have you got to wait for the results?

@longtompot what a nightmare! Hopefully they've managed to get a good one

@Hidingtonothing it's far to long to wait!

@Lou0390 yea I would definitely follow that up!

@catnidge how are you xx

Hi all, many thanks for good wishes. My diagnosis is endometrial cancer which is surprising given my age and I have none of the risk factors. I will have a full hysterectomy and ovaries removed. Radiotherapy if required. They may look into genetics, lynch syndrone as there are related cancers in my family.

Matildawormwood hope you get good news and don't have to wait too long for it

louhave you been given any idea what may be causing the bleeding?
hiding what a dreadfully long wait.

butterflykiss at least your appt is drawing nearer now

All the best everyone

matildawormwoood · 21/09/2019 00:54

@Butterflykiss00 they said it will be within 4 weeks!

@catnidge thank you, I will be praying that everything turns out well for you Thanks

Butterflykiss00 · 21/09/2019 07:33

@catnidge yes not long now for my appointment!

I hope everything goes ok xxxx

@matildawormwoood it's ridiculous, I had a biopsy a few years ago and it took 6 weeks to get results

OP posts:
Malibucyprus · 23/09/2019 11:49

I'm into week 6 of waiting now, after being told 2 weeks.

If I call my GP surgery will they have my results on their system?

Butterflykiss00 · 24/09/2019 10:47

@Malibucyprus the doctors get them first and then the letter is sent out, so it could be on it's way. I would ring then to see x

OP posts:
xJune88 · 25/09/2019 14:41

Cant believe the wait times. My smear was 4 weeks ago but I was told 8-10 weeks so still waiting... hope everyone is ok

Hidingtonothing · 09/10/2019 13:10

How's everyone doing? I'm still waiting, 9 weeks tomorrow so hoping it will be soon based on what the hospital said. It's an anxious wait though isn't it, 10 weeks seems far too long.

xJune88 · 09/10/2019 13:13

Forgot to update sorry! I got my results last week they told me 8-10 weeks however I had results just over 4. All fine here x
