I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

@matildawormwoood I'm sure it will go well for you ! I had my first when I started this thread too and it was fine, the nurse just keeps you talking anyway and it distracts you haha x

Iwanttoredecorateagain · 20/06/2019 00:18

@anitagreen any news? Think i saw you had a shit day on another thread. All ok?

LIZS · 22/06/2019 10:24

Finally got letter confirming normal - 10 1/2 weeks.

underthebridgedowntown · 22/06/2019 10:47

@katieeacton - I'm over 30 and an internal examination has never been part of the test! The dr should have explained what they were going to do and why...

Just had my results back and I'm HPV positive for the second year in a row. No abnormal cells though, but I'm back for another test on a year though as my body hasn't cleared the virus. DH and I probably just keep giving it back to each other, can't hold off on sex as we're ttc, so not sure how I can get better!

katieeacton · 23/06/2019 08:32

@underthebridgedowntown
No it actually is starting to make me think. He didnt really explain why, still waiting for my result.

Butterflykiss00 · 23/06/2019 14:31

@LIZS great news!!!!

@underthebridgedowntown oh! Hopefully it goes away, I think it's one of those things that once you've had it it kinda lays dormant if I get what I mean

@katieeacton why don't you ring the nurse or doctors and ask for an explanation? X

So sorry to hear people waiting so long for results. the disparity in the NHS service is so unfair. I had my test done (Greater London) and received my letter in less than 7 days. I'm thankful it was negative for HPV. Best wishes to all still waiting and for all undergoing further investigations and treatment.

Butterflykiss00 · 29/06/2019 22:35

@mrsglowglow wow! That was quick, maybe the waiting times are getting better now :) pleased to hear the results are ok

Hi all
Had my smear last Monday (24th) and the nurse said results were taking about a month.
Its my 3rd annual smear as I tested positive for hpv but no abnormal cells. She said if its still positive then I'll automatically be referred for a colposcopy. Terrified in case they find something in that scenario.
Good luck ladies x

Redgirl7 · 01/07/2019 14:22

I have had so many problems with doctors obtaining samples over years. Have a very tight cervix and retroverted uterus where it took 5 attempts this year and still no joy as it is so far back behind bladder. Got referred to hospital where a gynae surgeon whohas 100% success rate couldn't even take it as was very painful and pushed so far back! I should have had test in March but now waiting to have it done in hospital. Will be completely put to sleep as it will be a difficult sample to take and may have to do a biopsy as bleeding from cervix as well. Nervous and want it out of way but haven't got a choice.

BertieDrapper · 03/07/2019 20:54

So I'm passed the 7 week mark and still no results.

So frustrating.

But question- bloating - can someone tell me about bloating?? I get what I would call a bloated stomach - it puffs up and I suddenly look about 4/5 months pregnant but I have no discomfort with it -- is this still considered bloat? Or something else.

Getting a bit worried as I'm pretty sure I'm
Also having bladder issues- I just can't seem to fully empty my bladder and just need a wee all the time - not a UTI as I've had loads of those and now what they are like. And this has been going on a while!

Just really need my results back!!

Butterflykiss00 · 03/07/2019 22:47

@Choca hello, sorry I just seen this, good luck with the results, hopefully they'll come soon!

@Redgirl7 what a situation! Good luck for it all and let us know how it goes

@BertieDrapper 7 weeks is just ridiculous, have you contacted doctors?

It does sound like bloating, have you changed diet or ate anything knew?
It does sound alarming that you have bloating and bladder issues, maybe ring doctors separately about that incase smear comes back ok, at least He ball will be rolling early x

I rang them yesterday and they said to call back next week! Just dreading having to redo it and wait again!!

No the bloating has been happening for a few months but just didn't really realise what it was... I'm a size 10 but have a very wobbly belly so just put it down to that and lack of exercise but been exercising past month or so and its made be realise it goes away and comes back.... like normal one minute then I'll suddenly have a pregnancy belly!! I'll have to take a picture next time x

Butterflykiss00 · 05/07/2019 06:49

@BertieDrapper next week! I think you have waiting long enough
The bloating thing happens to me too but I had my son 7month ago so I don't think my body's settling back down well, I would definitely mention it to doctors though x

So I called Drs again... apparently they've had a few calls for smear results, and there is a delay.... but they don't know how long.
They don't know who to call to ask????

So apparently we are just meant to sit and wait an indefinite amount of time for our results!!!

I've booked an appointment for next Tuesday but it's a nurse practitioner so not sure what they will be able to do in terms of referrals, or whatever.... so blimming annoying and shocking to be honest.
I know the NHS is pretty bad at times but to not know when a tray result is due to come back is terrible!!!

Butterflykiss00 · 10/07/2019 15:15

@BertieDrapper I'm not sire who you could call either, hopefully nurse will be able to help when you have that appointment, it is terrible!!!!

Hi I had my gynae procedure and smear test last week under GA and they struggled to take pap smear due to tightness and awkward position of cervix. Thry took more thsn one ssmple to make sure! They identified cervical ectropian which is causing bleeding on cervix. They took cervix samples and did a colposcopy as well. Waiting for results and am anxious.

Butterflykiss00 · 14/07/2019 22:28

@Redgirl7 so pleased they managed to get a sample!! Did they gupive you a time frame?

mrsed1987 · 14/07/2019 22:34

anitagreen · 14/07/2019 22:37

@Iwanttoredecorateagain Hey only just saw your message now thanks for checking in on me been a bit crap lately but all okay now, I'm nearly 15 weeks pregnant now so I think I'm coming up to around 4 months of waiting for my smear test result back and it's still not back! Hope you are well. X

Maybelle15 · 14/07/2019 22:40

Mine was 4 months ago and i still do not have my results

Butterflykiss00 · 15/07/2019 21:11

@mrsed1987 hope they come back quick!
@anitagreen @Maybelle15 goodness me, they must of lost the sample, I could of trained and tested it myself in that time!
