Anyone waiting on smear results want to join?

I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

Hi they said 6 weeks for results but the wait is stressful. If they haven't got enough sample or if it's inadequate have to go through the procedure again. They will gave to take a bigger sample or a cone biopsy.

Just been told they never actually processed mine so after 15 weeks of waiting that's it now got to go in tomorrow for a chat what is the point? I'm so upset and stressed out this was the last piece of the puzzle to rule out the random periods and now been told sorry we can't help, plus because I'm pregnant they aren't willing to do another Sad

I'm also waiting on my results but mine was just your routine one. The nurse told me it was a 6 week wait. I'm almost 3 weeks in

I can't believe how long people are having to wait for their results it's ridiculous!

I had an appointment for my symptoms yesterday and I've been referred to Gynae. Also took a urine sample and it's been sent off so hopefully at least get results for that by end of the week.

Wasn't sure a nurse practitioner would be able to do much but she was lovely and really listened and didnt try and fob me off.

Hope everyone else gets there results soon!! X

@BertieDrapper that's good! At least your getting closer to finding out about your symptoms, my Referal letter still hasn't arrived, rang the consultants receptionist and she's resent the letter to consultant. 😡

So still no results.

I have, however had a gynaecologist appointment come through...... for January 2020..... I shit you not!
I wonder if I'll have my smear test results by then.... 🤔

Finally got my results today. Slightly abnormal cells, low grade dyskaryosis but luckily no HPV!

My gynaecologist appointment hasn't come through yet either! Blessings been constant although only spotting, going to ring them to see if my letter just hasn't arrived, I'm sick of waiting and sick of the symptoms now! I have got somewhere though and I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism so just waiting for another set of bloods to confirm if it's autoimmune or postpartum Thyroiditis

Sorry to hear people are waiting so long for results.
Matildawormwood, did you get all that info in your cervical screening results letter? What wil the next steps be for you?
I got my results back in just 5 days, abnormal but no further info. I have a colposcopy on Thurs and an internal scan before. Bloods showed raised platelets.
Trying to to worry...

@catnidge yes my letter said I have slightly abnormal cells, but because there is no HPV these are likely to go back to normal, so I just return for my routine smear in 3 years. Hope everything goes okay for you!

So after receiving the letter a few weeks ago saying I had low grade changes and no HPV, I've had another letter today saying I have HPV and have to go for a colposcopy! So looks like I was sent the wrong results

Hi just want to add I had a colodscopy today after abnormal results and HPV they did a biopsy I waited 10 whole weeks for my smear to come back very worried now long wait for my Biopsy I’m 33

I'm waiting for mine - diagnosed with stage 1a1 cervical cancer a year ago - all removed by LEEP

had 1 smear in March showing borderline changes, waiting for this one (I have to go every 4 - 6 months) - its 2 weeks today

Hi all, can I join please.

Just back from my first smear in 5 years Blush I’ve been avoiding it, I have health anxiety and my last one was awful, took 15 mins to find the opening of my cervix and was quite painful.

I’ve had a few booked over the past 2 years and always cancelled, but this one was actually fine. Nurse was absolutely lovely and found my cervix easily, in and out in less than 10 minutes.

I’ve been told results within 2 weeks, so fingers crossed. Also fingers crossed for everyone else waiting results.

I was told 2 weeks at mine (a week ago today) too Malibucyprus, it would seem that's quick from reading the thread. Mine was 2 years overdue (lots of reasons, anxiety from previous bad experience, closed the FPC where I'd always gone etc) and I've had treatment for cell changes in the past so I'm quite worried about the results. We seem to be very lucky in (hopefully) not having to wait too long though so that's something, shit that others are having such long waits though Sad

@Hidingtonothing I’ve just been reading through the thread and I can’t believe how long people are having to wait! It’s disgusting!

As if it’s not shit enough having to go for a smear, having to spend weeks/months waiting for results is so wrong!

I’m hoping mine will be within the 2 weeks, I’m gonna be a wreck as it is!

@matildawormwoood, the possible mix up is very worrying. I was sent for a CA125 blood test post colposcopy but when I've called for result neither GP or hospital have it, but each think the other should!
@threewillys, I am also waiting on biposy, been told up to 8 weeks.
