I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

@catnidge I know, I rang up my GP today and the nurse didn't seem to have a clue or know why, just said my results had been recalled and to go with what the most recent letter says! It is rather worrying when you call up and nobody seems to know what is going on

Butterflykiss00 · 27/08/2019 03:01

Hey sorry I've been off this a while, had some family issues.
Still waiting for my appointment for the treatments apparently they're full and il have to wait! Sick of the bleeding etc now. Angry it just sickens me knowing I have an unidentified area in my womb and I'm stuck bloody waiting !

@catnidge I hope they find your result soon! My ca125 came back fine xx

@matildawormwoood great news about your smear 🤞🏼 everything goes ok on your next one ! Xx

@threewillys good luck with your results, we're all here for you if you need to talk xx

@butterflykiss00, I hope your appt comes through very soon, waiting is incredibly stressful.

My CA125 came back fine so the cysts will wait and be rescanned in about a month.
I'm having a hysterscopy, lletz and polyp removal under GA as my colposcopy found high grade Cgin. I'm relived to have the appt, but worried as cgin can be difficult to spot and remove.

Hope everyone else waiting gets positive news.

Butterflykiss00 · 27/08/2019 08:56

@catnidge thankyou, it is awful the wait, I've been waiting for months now, I need a hysteroscopy too, and
cryosurgery and a d&c

I hope it goes well for you x

It's awful how many people are waiting for treatment, really worrying. No results yet, I thought two weeks was optimistic tbh, it's been three now so hoping they come soon. Won't lie and say I'm not worried, mainly because I was so overdue but also because I seem to have a lot of aches and pains in that area lately, not sure if it's just psychosomatic because I'm worried though Blush

xJune88 · 29/08/2019 14:03

Just had my smear today cant believe how worried I was about it, really was nothing! Nurse said a 8-10 week wait for results though..

Malibucyprus · 29/08/2019 15:08

8-10 weeks?? That’s ridiculous!!

I was told within 2 weeks, it’s been just over for me and haven’t had them yet.

Butterflykiss00 · 29/08/2019 16:08

It is awful the wait for people, but at least your half way there getting it done in the first place,
@Hidingtonothing I know what you mean, I sometimes think some of my symptoms are that too, however the bleeding I cannot ignore haha

8-10weeks!! Goodness me..

xJune88 · 29/08/2019 18:38

Yep! That's what the nurse said! West Yorkshire area...

Butterflykiss00 · 29/08/2019 20:50

@xJune88 it's soo different in each area I'm from county Durham and they said 2 weeks but it took ages can't remember how many now

Hi everyone - I'm a producer for BBC Sussex radio and we're doing a story on big delays to cervical cancer screening results in Sussex. Just wondering if anyone is waiting for results and/or had big waits for results and would be happy to speak to us on the radio?? If so, could you call my colleague Mandy on 01273 320 444 or email us on [email protected]. THANK YOU!!!

Hidingtonothing · 03/09/2019 12:29

Rang the doctors today, just to see whether there is a known delay in my area as it's now been almost 4 weeks rather than the 2 weeks the nurse advised at my smear. The receptionist did seem a bit concerned that I hadn't had them and said there wasn't a delay as far as she knew. Advised me to ring the hospital lab department myself and chase them up but I don't know whether to do that or just wait a bit longer. Has anyone else ever been told to ring the hospital?

Butterflykiss00 · 03/09/2019 18:47

@willflockton that's great, il email you, we need to get this noticed!!

@Hidingtonothing
I was told to ring the hospital too, I've actually just got my appointment through today for October for the things I need done!!

Hidingtonothing · 03/09/2019 20:55

Ah progress Butterfly, at least you know where you are now, although I'm sure it's not the happiest prospect at least you're not in limbo now. Glad to know being told to call the hospital isn't unusual, might do it tomorrow if I can pluck up courage, hate making those kind of calls Blush Hope all goes well with your treatment, am available for handholding should you need it nearer the time Flowers

Butterflykiss00 · 03/09/2019 21:10

@Hidingtonothing Thankyou, I, trying to decide if I want a general anaesthetic or not, not sure if it's optional with me having the cryosurgery, but I'm sure it is with the d&c and the hysteroscopy.
It's really worrying me that the symptoms are still here, it's getting me down now, doesn't help that the thyroid problem is still untreated!!

Hi ladies, mind if i join?

I have just received my biopsy results today from 5 weeks ago.
I had my son in March 2018 and every smear since then has shown slight changes in my cells. Had a colposcopy and biopsies done in July and have been confirmed as CIN1. Also got my appointment letter in for another colposcopy in Jan 2020. Everywhere I read is relating cin to HPV but my letter doesn't mention this. Really worried and stressed that I need to wait until January to find out if there has been any change.

Butterflykiss00 · 05/09/2019 22:13

@LoveRainbow02 hello, we don't mind at all, what a nightmare! January is a long time to have this hanging over you, I wish you all the best in your treatment and I hope things get sorted soon ❤️.
My letter didn't mention hpv either x

catnidge · 08/09/2019 06:31

@butterflykiss00 glad you finally have an appointment.

@LoveRainbow02 my letter hasn't mentioned hpv either.

Things have moved on for me. I had my hyserroscopy, polypectomy, colposcopy and extended lletz under GA. Five days later I had a call from the hospital asking me to come in and discuss results. Appointment is tomorrow, feeling very stressed!

BunchMunch · 08/09/2019 06:56

Catnidge
Good luck for tomorrow's appointment.

I had my colp last Monday after 3 annual smears showing hpv but no abnormal cells.

I'll be honest, I was petrified. Not of the procedure itself but in case they found something.
The colposcopist was lovely, and the colp was over in about 5 minutes. No abnormalities 🙏👍 yay but as a precaution she took some biopsies so I'm just waiting on them - apparently around 6 weeks waiting time for results.

She said that if the results come back as hpv+ or cin1 then I just need to go back in 12 months time for a follow up. If cin2 or 3 then back for treatment.

Hoping and praying that the biopsies are normal.

Good luck to all ladies waiting on results.

catnidge · 08/09/2019 07:11

@brunchmunch, thanks for your good wishes

Hope your results come back clear, waiting is horrible.

Butterflykiss00 · 08/09/2019 07:55

@catnidge good luck for your appointment, hope all is well x

@BunchMunch good luck with your results, fingers crossed it's ok

Hi everyone. Currently awaiting my results, was told it would be two weeks but going into fourth now. I'm not too concerned but have been suffering with some spotting after sex and this week I have had nausea. Ruled out pregnancy. About 4 years ago pre children I had abnormal cells which turned out to be fine.
I think I will give the doctors a call tomorrow to see what's going on Confused

Butterflykiss00 · 08/09/2019 09:14

@Lou0390 I hope they come back soon, most of our results on here took 5 weeks Confused, did they mention any ecropian or erosion on the cervix when doing the smear?

OP posts:
Lou0390 · 08/09/2019 10:01

@Butterflykiss00 thanks. No they didn't mention any further tests or investigation but I will give them a call tomorrow anyway just to mention my other symptoms

Butterflykiss00 · 08/09/2019 16:35

@Lou0390 that's a good idea, hope alls ok xx
