Background: 8 weeks post parting. PPH losing 1.4 litres of blood after delivery. Theatre sorted it. Bleeding non stop until I had Implanon at 4 weeks PP and a week later started Cerelle to curb the bleeding. Bleeding stopped for a week. Came back last night.

Just passed this >> see photo

What the actual fuck is it? It's like raw meat, not bloody and just laying there on the pad. It's about an inch long and 2cm or so thick. Waiting on out of hours GP to call me back but any ideas? I'm 30, third child and I've never experienced anything like this.

I would be inclined to rock
Up at your A&E saying you're in pain today and hopefully they'll push you thru quicker.

I know this method might be frowned upon by some but the longer it's left the worse any infection could be.

Grumpasaurus · 15/10/2018 08:24

Op, I work in Sexual Health. I would also be minded to rock up at a&e and say you are now in pain so they will scan you earlier. I am concerned you are en route to sepsis which is very serious.

Welshmaiden85 · 15/10/2018 08:27

I also think you should go to A&E. Ingrained sexism is rife in healthcare. I doubt they would ask a man bleeding from his penis with a manual job (equivalent to looking after a baby) to wait two weeks....bloody dangerous..

Mynameisnotthis · 15/10/2018 08:29

I have to say I agree to do that while you have your DH about to make the logistics easier. It might well be frowned upon but you’re the best person to take action for your health and your health is important.

Mynameisnotthis · 15/10/2018 08:33

I also agree with the ingrained sexism comment. I was repeatedly told my symptoms were normal, being told it was a period, being asked if this was my first baby Hmm etc. When I asked for a second opinion I was told they would simply tell me the same as the first doc and midwives I saw. That’s why I make the comment about being the best advocate for your own health. If it ends up being clear and nothing further needs done then no harm done.

TatianaLarina · 15/10/2018 09:07

If you’re in London OP I know a good private GP practice that has ultrasound, you’d be able to get one much more quickly.

Welshmaiden85 · 16/10/2018 00:32

How are you doing?

PossibiliTea · 16/10/2018 00:48

Wow hope you are ok! Sounds like a lot going on and three children to care for all 8 weeks pp! Flowers

wineandwhine · 16/10/2018 07:51

I'm nowhere near London 😞

I'm doing okay. Still bleeding but not heavily while on both Implanon and the progesterone only pill so I have no idea why that's happening. The results weren't in yesterday so I need to call this afternoon to see if it was 100% placenta or something else and hopefully the results will be back.

I feel fine. DH took the day off yesterday to stay with me in case anything took a down turn but it's just me and the babe again today. He's forty minutes away so close enough to get back in an emergency and I'm resting a lot because I'm terrified of anything coming away and bringing with it more blood until I know what it was. I know the gynae said placenta but they could always be wrong!

OP posts:
Shazafied · 16/10/2018 07:54

I think it’s placenta but go to the gp anyway / call your midwife

OhTheRoses · 16/10/2018 09:22

Yes, go to the GP and get them to hurry it along too. The squeaky wheel and all that.

OhTheRoses · 16/10/2018 09:25

The other thing is, you were ok before it came away, so prividing you still feel ok, probably ok to just carry on. Keep us updated. Sometimes the little words "I am concerned about serious consequences if nothing is done to resolve this, ifyou wouldn't mind noting that please" work wonders.

wineandwhine · 16/10/2018 19:04

I called back for my results but it turns out histology can take a week to come back and it was only sent yesterday. My swab came back with signs of infection so I'm waiting for a call back from the doctor as to whether they're going to treat with antibiotics as a preventative measure or not.

OP posts:
Mynameisnotthis · 16/10/2018 21:07

What a palava! Take it you’ve had no word about a scan yet? I wonder if the results from the swab might have an impact on the scan timescale?

wineandwhine · 16/10/2018 22:48

No word about the scan yet but technically it was only put in for yesterday so I'm not expecting a letter until at least the end of the week. I hope so! It's only a slight infection marker (apparently most don't even get treated but mine might due to the suspected issue) which is why I'm having to wait on doctors aoproval.

ContessasGulagSpaDay · 16/10/2018 22:51

I had something like that emerge once op and posted about it on here turned out to be a residual cast. No other symptoms or anything at all. It's never happened again!

Hopefully all is well, but glad you're getting checked out.

ContessasGulagSpaDay · 16/10/2018 22:52

DECIDUAL cast, dammit!

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 16/10/2018 22:57

How’s your bleeding now?

wineandwhine · 17/10/2018 00:33

Lighter bleeding but still there. It tends to seem like it's failing off then comes back to around 'normal' period amounts. I'm calling the GP in the morning to try and get an emergency appointment.

OP posts:
Spamfrittersforeveryone · 17/10/2018 07:54

It seems like your body is still trying to expel something, doesn’t it. Hope the GP is helpful.

wineandwhine · 17/10/2018 12:58

GP couldn't get me in today so I need to either speak to the hospital doctor regarding a prescription or call again at 8:30am tomorrow.

OP posts:
LikeARedBalloon · 17/10/2018 13:08

I had something similar fall out during my first shower whilst still in hospital. I screamed, a cleaner came rushing in, scooped it up and threw it in the bin! When I told the midwife I then got told off for not keeping it for them to see. I do wish hospitals would tell you what COULD happen after birth so you prepare for it better! 😣

VelvetReVulva · 17/10/2018 13:41

That doesn’t seem great, extended bleeding post partum with potential retained product and testing positive for infection but no appointment?

TatianaLarina · 17/10/2018 13:45

If GP can’t give you an appt tomorrow morning, ring 111 and see if you can get a walk in centre GP appt same day.

Mynameisnotthis · 20/10/2018 08:40

How are you doing @wineandwhine
