Background: 8 weeks post parting. PPH losing 1.4 litres of blood after delivery. Theatre sorted it. Bleeding non stop until I had Implanon at 4 weeks PP and a week later started Cerelle to curb the bleeding. Bleeding stopped for a week. Came back last night.

Just passed this >> see photo

What the actual fuck is it? It's like raw meat, not bloody and just laying there on the pad. It's about an inch long and 2cm or so thick. Waiting on out of hours GP to call me back but any ideas? I'm 30, third child and I've never experienced anything like this.

Post partum, obviously.

I don’t know but the thread title should have a TMI warning! GP is your best bet.

wineandwhine · 13/10/2018 17:27

Can MNHQ do that? I meant to put that before pics!

Redtartanshoes · 13/10/2018 17:27

Jeez. It sure. Not pretty though. Tbh think you need to speak to dr. Flowers

wigglybeezer · 13/10/2018 17:28

Desidual cast?

Redtartanshoes · 13/10/2018 17:29

Tbh I don’t think a warning is needed. It’s in woman’s health, the OP states it’s come out of her vaginia and states a pic is attached... what were you expecting a pic of?? A puppy?? A Sunny meadow??

wineandwhine · 13/10/2018 17:29

Isn't a desidual cast always in the shape of the Fallopian tubes etc? I'm so confused and worried.

EvilEdna1 · 13/10/2018 17:31

Might it be a bit of placenta?

Mynameisnotthis · 13/10/2018 17:31

I’m gonna guess some retained product. Sorry OP, bet that was a shock! Would explain the issues with bleeding though.

Also not sure that a TMI warning is necessary in a title that’s clear there are pics of something that came out of a vagina...what were you expecting? Grin

Mynameisnotthis · 13/10/2018 17:32

Sorry x post with redtartan

Rainbowturkey · 13/10/2018 17:33

It’s very clear it wasn’t going to be pleasant!
I would assume a bit of placenta.

Aprilislonggone · 13/10/2018 17:33

KFC??

Jackshouse · 13/10/2018 17:34

Retained product. I would ring 111, ideas you have any more it could cause infection or even a very serious bleed.

Mainchanger · 13/10/2018 17:34

I had something a bit like that 3 days after my second child, midwife said it was likely to be a bit of placenta.
I agree, no warning necessary.

MissMarplesBloomers · 13/10/2018 17:35

Yep looks like retained tissue. Are you still bleeding?

TwoGinScentedTears · 13/10/2018 17:36

Your be been through the mill. Glad you're waiting to speak to a doctor.

How do you feel? Have you taken your temperature?

NicoAndTheNiners · 13/10/2018 17:36

If you can pull it apart it's a blood clot . Otherwise bit of placenta. Looks more like the latter but hard to tell from photo.

Abilouise · 13/10/2018 17:36

I think it's some left over placenta. My bleeding slowed down at 2 weeks PP and then increased again at 4 weeks until it was really heavy 4 weeks and 1 day PP. Worried I went straight to a&a only to find out my period has started 🤦 i didn't even consider a period because I was EBF! Don't get too worried OP, because like me, you could be getting yourself worried over nothing. Sending luck and hugs Flowers

wineandwhine · 13/10/2018 17:36

Still bleeding but light, like the end of a period. Enough to just about fill a pad in a whole day I'd say as the pad isn't full when I change after a few hours.

OP posts:
newtlover · 13/10/2018 17:36

no warning necessary
sorry OP but does it smell bad?
any tenderness or fever?

NicoAndTheNiners · 13/10/2018 17:37

Are you still bleeding?

Bellabutterfly2016 · 13/10/2018 17:38

I retained my placenta after the birth of my first daughter and they had to get it out manually - with epidural- but I was unfortunate enough to see it once pulled out and it resembled that

Phone the maternity unit now - keep that in a good bag to show them; they may well do a D&C and give you antibiotics as worst case scenario if infected could develop into sepsis.

I'm sure it'll all be ok and get sorted

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 13/10/2018 17:38

Does it smell? You may need some antibiotics.

wineandwhine · 13/10/2018 17:38

Bleeding increased week 4 just before I got my implant in and continued for a week when I got prescribed the Cerelle on top to control it which I imagine was my period. All bleeding stopped for a week, started last night and has been pretty light and then this.

If it is a little bit of placenta, should I wait for the OOH to call me or call 111 now? Nearly eight weeks later I'd imagine it'd be a bit dangerous.
