Background: 8 weeks post parting. PPH losing 1.4 litres of blood after delivery. Theatre sorted it. Bleeding non stop until I had Implanon at 4 weeks PP and a week later started Cerelle to curb the bleeding. Bleeding stopped for a week. Came back last night.

Just passed this >> see photo

What the actual fuck is it? It's like raw meat, not bloody and just laying there on the pad. It's about an inch long and 2cm or so thick. Waiting on out of hours GP to call me back but any ideas? I'm 30, third child and I've never experienced anything like this.

I used to work in theatre. I reckon that it could be a swab, actually.

Keep a close eye on how you’re feeling overnight.

SecretWitch · 13/10/2018 18:50

Well, that seems like sound advice then. Am amazed you had sexy time scheduled just 8 weeks after birth! I can’t remember being interested in anything but sleep for the first year Grin

DamnItPatrice · 13/10/2018 19:01

I had this after both births, both at 3 months pp. it was like pale chunks of flesh. I told the gynae both times and they took a look and said all was fine. So weird.

OhTheRoses · 13/10/2018 19:15

Anyone remember the sootikin thread?

LynetteScavo · 13/10/2018 19:19

I had something very much like this, but much sooner after birth. I presumed it was retained placenta. The midwife had wrenched the placenta out of me Hmm(it was worse than actually giving birth) so I figured a bit had been left behind. I didn't see anyone about it, although I was a bit concerned I might get an infection.

wineandwhine · 13/10/2018 20:36

Change of plan. I'm at the gynae ward now waiting to see a doctor. Just for a general exam etc.

redcaryellowcar · 13/10/2018 20:40

I'm pleased you are being looked after, I read your thread earlier and was thinking it's not something I would want to leave until Monday. Hope all sorted soon and you are able to get home.

TheSheepofWallSt · 13/10/2018 20:43

Fibroid? My friend used to bleed horrifically and sometimes passed them ... twice at work. Both times were dreadful. We put them in lunchboxes so she could take them to the gynae.... glad you’re at the hospital ... best of luck!

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 13/10/2018 20:55

💐 for you OP. Glad you are being seen.

wineandwhine · 13/10/2018 21:04

That only just posted. Just been seen and examined. They're sure it's placenta and I'm in for a scan within the next two weeks. Told to rest until then. Uhhh I have a newborn Hmm

Had swabs, bloods and tissue has been sent for testing in case but up to two weeks seems ages to wait for a scan if it's placenta!

OP posts:
TomHardysNextWife · 13/10/2018 21:08

Gosh that seems a long wait OP. But glad you've been seen.

PillowOfSociety · 13/10/2018 21:13

Glad you got seen OP, and hope you are OK,

And seriously folks, women need to know they can ask for help and advice without everyone having an ‘eeer yuk eeek I need a warning’ fit. Most of us here have had a baby, FFS, and we don’t ever want anyone to feel too self conscious to ask for help, surely?

MNHQ?

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 13/10/2018 21:23

OMG that is a ridiculous wait! I was lucky... scan within an hour of admission and in surgery the next morning. BUT it must mean they think you’re okay as they CAN scan earlier than that I’m sure....

MyOtherProfile · 13/10/2018 21:28

Glad you've been seen.

wineandwhine · 13/10/2018 21:47

The doctor said they'd call if they could fit me in earlier but usually write with a date between 1-2 weeks. Resting up the next two days as she said there's an increased chance of haemorrhage if more comes away which means DH needs to take annual leave on Monday to help at home but hopefully the scan is swift and fast.

Thank you all who told me to get checked out and for your support. I can't say I'm not worried but at least I've been checked out and I'm 'on the books'.

Please let us know how you get on OP. Thinking of you x

ileclerc · 14/10/2018 00:05

Oh goodness hope you're ok op!

Mynameisnotthis · 14/10/2018 08:02

OP that wait is ridiculous! When I had suspected retained products (suspected only by me - docs and midwives told me it was a period, despite the fact I had been haemorrhaging on and off for weeks and came in by ambulance Hmm), they asked me to come back the next day for a scan. due to increased risk of further haemorrhage I refused to leave and was admitted overnight and scanned first thing the next day. (My womb was indeed full of retained products btw, i was later told it is linked to PPH, I lost 2.5l at birth).

I know we have to put trust in medics, they are the experts etc but I’d really be seeing if you can get in sooner for a scan. Even if there are no further retained products, being left in limbo for potentially 2 weeks is not good!

I wish you well OP Flowers

Mynameisnotthis · 14/10/2018 08:08

Also totally agree with @PillowOfSociety - good points well made!

wineandwhine · 14/10/2018 11:19

Just called for blood results. Haemoglobin is fine but white blood cell count is slightly elevated "but nothing to worry about". I asked the nurse to ask the doctor to check it out and call me if necessary. I don't like the sound of waiting up to 2 weeks for a scan and ignoring any kind of markers for infection right now, however small they seem.

OP posts:
Mynameisnotthis · 14/10/2018 15:57

I think you’re right to not want to ignore infection markers. Will you follow up again if you don’t hear anything back from the hospital about the results?

wineandwhine · 14/10/2018 16:56

I'll follow up again tomorrow morning if I hear nothing today. Even if I need repeat bloods at the GP and they send a note through the system to check if the blood cell count is increasing whatsoever, at least it could ease my mind about waiting so long for investigation. Bleeding is back as heavy as a period and red again but not a heavy one and no big clots or signs of haemorrhage but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

OP posts:
Mynameisnotthis · 14/10/2018 17:51

I really feel for you wine. You probably won’t feel you are able to relax until it’s all resolved. That’s why I think the wait is so unfair. Crossing my fingers you get answers ASAP

TatianaLarina · 14/10/2018 18:55

Can you get a private appointment with a gynaecologist this week?
