Don't post here if you don't want to know who dies and what happens.

You've been warned.

OP posts:

So glad that I can fancy Snape safely now. Really ought to get back to reality again now after ignoring everybody all day but am tempted to start again and re-read.

Piffle · 21/07/2007 15:19

I knew Snape would be a good guy
He is played by Alan Rickman in the film is he not?
I have been telling my ds this for 7 years, he will finally have to say Mum you were right.
And I've never read the books, as I am so impatient I cannot wait 7 years for finality Now I have all 7 lined up and ready to go.So when Jk R said no more HP books she may have been right...

So for Hogwarts the next generation then JKR?

rosmerta · 21/07/2007 17:39

I've just finished it, love that she still manages to put some humourous bits in but v at Remus & Tonks & Fred

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 17:41

It was Fred that got to me.

Glad that Percy came good in the end

And poor little Dobby. Bless

rosmerta · 21/07/2007 17:42

I half-expected Percy to turn up but then thought it would be him who'd die, not Fred! Yes, Dobby was v upsetting as well

rosmerta · 21/07/2007 17:43

I also liked all the house elves attacking with knives & cleavers with Kreacher leading the way!

janeitebus · 21/07/2007 18:17

Yes, it should have been Percy! And HOW cute was Kreacher? Loved him telling Harry to wash his hands before dinner.

Wonder what happened to Winky?

And Dudley?

rosmerta · 21/07/2007 18:32

I probably need to go back & read it a bit slower, but who was it that did magic late in life? I can't say I noticed anybody, did I miss it?

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 18:47

i didn't either

AttilaTheMum · 21/07/2007 18:56

I see that Harry will be 27 in 10 days time - anyone know why JKR chose 31 July 1980 as his birth date?

loonylovegood · 21/07/2007 19:16

I loved the happy ending! I'm a sucker for those!

It wasn't as sad as I thought it was going to be, I nearly shead a tear over Tonks and Lupin, but I was expecting some full on sobbing!

I knew HP was a horcrux! I was convinced Hermione was gonna snuff it though!

loonylovegood · 21/07/2007 19:16

I was also v [shock} to see Harry was older than me!!

eca · 21/07/2007 19:18

I didn't get who did magic later either! And what happened to the Dursleys?

Lupin and Tonks got me, they had a baby

loonylovegood · 21/07/2007 19:20

I don't think there was enough emphasis on the deaths, they could have been much sadder!

tribpot · 21/07/2007 19:25

No - I agree. I wanted a big funeral scene for poor Fred (in my speed reading I didn't even notice a reaction from George) and Remus and Tonks. A wedding scene or two would have been nice.

Had visions of Harry burying Voldemort on his own in a Luke-Skywalker-Darth-Vader stylee, but it was not to be.

Rather a lot of swearing in this one, compared with earlier ones I thought? Okay, they don't exactly swear like most 17 year olds but even so.

tribpot · 21/07/2007 19:26

Btw, I think the sort of relentless death-death-death thing was meant to convey what it must be like to live in a war, where it's just not possible to process the information until after the event. By the end I don't think Harry had even started grieving for Hedwig, never mind all the deaths that followed.

loonylovegood · 21/07/2007 19:29

I would have liked some more emotion! I wanted a good cry! I did speed read it though, so maybe I missed bits. Gonna start again from the beginning tonight and read it properly!

HedTwigg · 21/07/2007 19:29

RIP me

HedTwigRIP · 21/07/2007 19:31

HedTwigRIP · 21/07/2007 19:31

am I one of the 6 then? or am I not counted as I'm an owl?

AttilaTheMum · 21/07/2007 19:32

Never mind - it was very quick, I'm sure you didn't suffer...

loonylovegood · 21/07/2007 19:32

Harry didn't seem to care too much about your death, he bloody well blew you up! That's gratitude for you!

whomovedmychocolate · 21/07/2007 19:33

More 'ow' than owl now

GhostofHedTwig · 21/07/2007 19:33

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 19:33
