Don't post here if you don't want to know who dies and what happens.

You've been warned.

Oh really? Blimey! I'd heard that Worcs & the Cotswolds were swamped (I work for a holidays cottage company and we've been trying to find alternative accommodation this evening) but not the Peaks.

Good luck tonight and tomorrow.

expatinscotland · 21/07/2007 01:16

Finally warm there, ali?

It's now 100, well has been. And forecast for the same all weekend, with the usual 8 drops of rain which you'll remember well . Glorious summer here, loving it. Art festival on Pearl St tomorrow for me and friends and their boy, paddle in the pop fountain for the kids - maybe a Ben and Jerry's later. How's that sound? So when you moving and where you moving to. Congrats btw!!

expatinscotland · 21/07/2007 01:22

Ah, yes! With the lightning that never hits the ground because it's too dry and hot to rain.

We're away to Argyll in September, thankfully.

Funny, I wound up in Colorado by default - the ex got a transfer.

I used to hate it.

Then I realised how much it got under my skin.

I cannot live in a British urban environment and be happy.

Too crowded, too densely packed.

I need the wilderness, I need to see it, to know it's just there, waiting for us.

Peaks are fine - not flooded, just very wet, and localised flooding on some houses where the farmers haven't maintained drainage dykes in recent years...

expatinscotland · 21/07/2007 01:33

And HP LIVES and gets married to Ginny and Ron marries Hermoine and they all procreate.

Even Draco.

Fabbie Argyll. Well done to you all, you'll love it. This place has well and truly got under my skin and I can't envisage myself living anywhere else at the moment.

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 11:52

Well!

I've read the lot.

Well!

Sigh

Sad isn't it?

onlyjoking9329 · 21/07/2007 12:14

MB you can't just leave it at that
i am fed up cos althou i preordered it from play.com it ain't arrived, so the whole world will know what happens, except me

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 12:18

I'm still wondering f I've got the official 'Saddo Speed reading crown ' of MN?

And I the only person to have read it cover to cover? I'm sure there must be someone who read it before me.

Lots of people die. There are some v v sad and touching bits, particularlt re the death of parents, which as you'd imagine have some resonance chez bishop.

Worth a read.

flack · 21/07/2007 12:20

It's a spoiler thread, MartianB, you're SUPPOSED to spill the beans here, specifics please!?

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 12:21

If I'm honest I really don't want to spoil the fun that you will have while you read it!

The moments where you go, 'Well! fancy that' and also the ones where you say 'I knew that would happen!'

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 12:22

I will say it ends well!

flack · 21/07/2007 12:24

I ain't gonna read it, only want to read spoilers. Only reason I logged on today (oh, and feeling ill so dodging chores).

hum, shall I drag myself off to do housework until tomorrow...

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 12:29

You swear yuo are not going to read it? I don't want to spoil you fun if your going to?

Swear not to tell anyone else?

flack · 21/07/2007 12:33

Cor, blimey, I gotta sign an oath, do I?
I will probably blurt it out to DH, but he doesn't care so will forget less than 5 seconds later.
"I Promise not to tell anybody unless they beg me to" -- should be easy since I don't know any HP fans IRL.

I read Goblets of Fire on holiday once, it put me off reading any of the others, tbh!

Love the movies, though, would go watch them regardless.

No need for you to write loads, Just curious about the highlights, there's another thread on MN with apparent spoilers (?"19 years later"?), anyway.

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 12:39

OK

If you insist

no-one should carry on reading unless they want to know

I'm serious

If you are reading the book, stop now, it will spoil the fun

If you read this bit, PLEASE, don't tell people who don't want to know. Not even for a larf.

Loads of people die. Hedwig, Mad eye, dobby, Remus and tonks even, sob sob, Fred!

They get the horcruxes. there are other things that are being looked for, called Hallows.

Dumbledore was a semi baddie in his yoof

Snape loved lily all along. In the end harry has to die because he is a horcrux. But he comes back

But it all ends happily ever after, with the divisions of the houses healed because of Snapes love and sacrifice, and harys bravery and scarifice. love triumphs in the end

onlyjoking9329 · 21/07/2007 12:39

spill MB spill, i will sign oath in blood if required

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 12:40

best x post ever sober!

flack · 21/07/2007 12:41

Ha!!! I knew Snape was a goody (within human limits) all along.

mm22bys · 21/07/2007 12:48

I read I - V, but I didn't enjoy Goblet of Fire so didn't bother reading Half-Blood Prince.

Do you think I need to read Half-Blood Prince before I read the last one?

flack · 21/07/2007 12:50

Ooh, just realised the summaries are already on Wikipedia (Remus and Tonks dying, for instance).

Blandmum · 21/07/2007 12:55

I didn't enjoy half blood prince much.

Knowing what happened does help the understanding of the last book, but if you read a synopsis (must be loads out there on the net) you'd be ok.

Last book was masses better than book 6

IdrisTheDragon · 21/07/2007 13:20

Really not looking at this yet as I'm only up to p184 (and have been looking after DS this morning). But I will finish it. Today. I hope .

BellatrixBear · 21/07/2007 13:49

Just finished. Blimey.

Quite happy really.

I was wrong about Snape.
