Following on from his Sunday Times bestseller Marcus at Home, Marcus Wareing is back - with a must-have new classic for your kitchen shelves.

Over the years, Marcus has developed and refined recipe after recipe. Whether it’s a quick meal after a hectic day, a recipe to bring your family together or a feast to impress your friends, Marcus brings excellence to every dish that he makes.

In New Classics, Marcus takes the best of time-honoured recipes and puts his own spin on them. What’s more, he creates new recipes that will become much-loved classics in their own right. Here is a book to pore over, to bring inspiration and excitement back into your cooking, and to use again and again.

Marcus’ new book features his own take on classic dishes, as well as dishes he thinks deserve to be classics of the future. For a chance to win a copy plus a £100 restaurant voucher, we want to know: what are your all-time favourite classic recipes - or the ones that you think deserve to be classics?

I think all my family would say the best classic I do is my cottage pie. I add paprika, worcester sauce, tomato puree & thyme to give it lots of flavour and finish it off with grated cheese melted & toasted on the top. Doesn't need anything much - just serve it with fresh veg and buttered crusty bread to mop up all the gravy...yum!

It's definitely not the Jerusalem Artichoke Chicken bake I made this evening. Never again. Recipe book has been marked to prevent the possibility.

Keith Floyd’s recipe for boeuf bourguignon is stunning. Marinaded overnight, it is luxurious and hearty at the same time. Perfect for entertaining and family lunches with family - any excuse really!

Our favourite recipes during this time of the year are -
Shepherds' Pie, with lots of grated cheese in the mashed potato topping.
Corned Beef Hash - easy to make and satisfying.
Braised Steak, onions, and mushrooms. Add a dash of beer to the gravy.

Old traditional dishes go down best with our family.

Crab Linguine, easy and classic

Vegetable lasagne. My granny didn't make it, but my mum used to when we were kids. And she's 70 now. So there we go!

KnottedAnchorChief · 27/11/2017 18:38

Lamb curry, in the slow cooker. Quick bit of prep, bung in slow cooker and then ignore it for half a day, finished with basmati rice and a naan. MMMMmmm!

GeekyWombat · 27/11/2017 18:39

French Onion Soup (I have a recipe from Raymond Blanc that has toasted cheesy bread on the top that I love)

Sausage toad with onion gravy.

My mouth is actually watering now!

JayJay1874 · 27/11/2017 19:09

I love fondant potatoes. I find it humorous how most on masterchef fail to cook them correctly. I guess they are under time restraints which makes it hard to make them but maybe they shouldn't try them if they can't be done in the time. I make them all the time and they are great.

lastkisstoo · 27/11/2017 20:43

My friend's late mum's Sunshine Soup. It is a clear broth with thin sticks of lots of colourful veg, flavoured with cumin. Delicious.

We still make it now and think of her :)
