Signed up last night as they're doing a special offer. Had a bit of a play around with the app and seems simple enough to use. Might treat myself to a fitbit for my birthday in a few weeks so I can link up to track sleep, exercise etc. I like that the app has exercise videos. Also like that I can meal plan simply and it creates a shopping list for me.

I am 41, I weigh 68kg, am 5ft2. Have a family history of diabetes, heart issues etc that I want to avoid. WFH has made me unfit, rarely do any steps, gyms closing over lockdown and I haven't found thr motivation to go back. Was in a great habit of getting to DD school early at pick up time and walking around the block with my headphones on, then got a promotion and my calendar is back to back to back video calls 😶 DD wants to exercise too, so plan is to do some fun YouTube workouts together in the evenings.

Not sure today was a good day to start as it's NYE. Had 1 and half weetabix this morning. Taking DD out for a late lunch. And have a noodle salad ready for this evening. Going to finish my meal plan and then do a big online shop tonight. Looking forward to week 1 :)

Well that didn't quite go to plan! We decided which restaurant we were going to, I looked at the menu, did my research, checked the points, decided what I was having. Got there and the restaurant was closed!
DD was hungry so we went to restaurant next door, which wasn't very healthy lol plus it was an Indian restaurant and too many of my fave dishes!! I've logged it all and not to worried cos I know I will make the points back over the week as DD is back at school, I've meal planned, have read loads on what to do and even this is a step forward. Usually after an unhealthy meal I'd think "eff it" and come home and eat more!! At least now I have stopped myself doing that. Slow and steady wins the race!

Big Shop done, click and collect on Sunday, meal plan looks good, none of it is food that turns me off. Also like that having certain veg and fruit is 0 points, so was feeling like a snack so had a carrot. There's enough points each day to allow a snack/treat, making some chocolate and peanut butter snacks to give me my chocolate fix :)
Will actually weigh myself properly tomorrow too, the 68kg was my weight from a few weeks ago.
Already found myself drinking more water, having to track everything reminds me to have water too.

Nomorepawpatrol · 01/01/2022 09:58

I'm back on it after gaining all I lost last time. Unfortunately the house is still full of chocolate so I'm going to have to be very strong willed.

How do you find doing the planning on the system with points seemingly very low?

bonfireheart · 01/01/2022 12:36

I've got 22 points per day, hard to know if it's enough as I'm waiting for my shopping to be delivered tomorrow before I can start properly :) although it's made me realise already the stupid choices I make. Had a bit of lie in this morning and rather than make a breakfast with a couple of points and then wait until lunch time for something like a salad - I add a BOL ready noodle box and used up half my points of the day. Am an idiot, I realise this! If I'd simply done the sensible thing I would have used less points and eaten better food. This is why I need help! Making a chicken n veg dish this evening that is just 8 points and if I feel hungry I will snack on some grapes or a carrot which are 0 points.

I am doing WW, it is the only plan that has ever worked for me in the past and allowed me to lose weight and keep it off (until kids/life got in the way!) I re-started on Jan 1st and doing well so far.

The new plan definitely takes some getting used to, if you find yourself without any points left very quickly, but getting the hang of it and have done a big healthy food shop.

How is everyone getting on?

bonfireheart · 03/01/2022 19:00

My fridge is full of fruit and veg! So anyone who says WW encourages you to eat unhealthy, doesn't really understand it.
I joined a WW workshop on Zoom today where they went through the basics. It was really useful and so nice to feel part of a community, see other people, so it doesn't feel like I am on my own doing it virtually.
On track today with:
B - Weetabix
L - tomato, feta and chickpea salad
D - chicken tagliatelle
Snack - peanut butter and chocolate snack ball

Tracking my water has made me realise how little water I drink!! Might even do some exercise tomorrow:)

@hopingforabrighterfuture2021 any tips?

OP posts:
hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 03/01/2022 19:34

@bonfireheart well done, that sounds amazing! I have a fridge full of veg and protein too, this new plan definitely rewards healthy eating and there’s far less of the very low point junky snacks the old WW plans allowed for I’m finding!

No real tips, I’m making sure I try and include zero points foods at lunch and dinner and drinking lots of water. Also really limiting sugar as I definitely have an issue with it!

bonfireheart · 03/01/2022 19:57

Joined the app academy workshop too, really motivating.

bonfireheart · 03/01/2022 20:15

Yeah agree about the sugar, so I've ditched tea too, doing my own version of Dry Janauary but with tea!

Hello, I’d like to join you on this thread. I’ve restarted again after giving up over the Christmas period.

Have re-done the points calculator survey as was finding I wasn’t able to stick to points before so thought a change would be good. I have ended up with fewer daily points but with most the lean proteins as zero, so going to give it a go for a few weeks like that.

I am feeling a bit unwell the first day back on it, eating so many vegetables, but I was eating so badly over Christmas, and that also made me feel bad!

I might try joining one of the live sessions if you thought it was good. Was it a kick start session or is app academy something different? I couldn’t find it just now.

bonfireheart · 04/01/2022 01:45

From what I understand, once you do that quiz it adds the food you eat often as your zero points food. How many points do you have for your daily allowance @ilovegreen? I know what you mean about vegetables! I think it'll encourage me to think of other vegetables beyond carrot and cucumbers though.

If you click on 'connect' then either just find the latest posts by wwukofficial which have the virtual workshops ... or click 'connect', then 'browse groups' and search for 'virtual workshop hub' they all come up.

This morning I went to the 'basics' workshop which shows you how the programme works, the 4 strands etc.

Then I went to an App academy session where they showed you all the features of the app. Am pretty tech savvy but still learnt so much.

Am slightly annoyed that I got carried away tidying up a few months ago and now can't my scales anywhere and really don't want to spend money on new ones. No idea how much I weigh. Might go to my brothers house just to weigh myself!

OP posts:
ilovegreen · 04/01/2022 21:38

Thanks for the tips on the live sessions @bonfireheart. I will try to do one at the weekend. how will you do WW without scales though - are you going to meetings?

I have 20 daily points on current configuration. I guess the actual number isn’t as important as the process of tracking.

Good luck everyone - hopefully this time next month we’ll be well on our way to where we want to be!

bonfireheart · 04/01/2022 22:02

I found my scales :)
I'm on the digital membership which means I can't attend the physical local meetups/weigh ins.

OP posts:
bonfireheart · 04/01/2022 22:03

I'm on 22 points but blame pizza hut for blowing that today!

PippaRose · 05/01/2022 12:45

I’m back on it this week too, it’s the only diet that works for me, it’s a bit tougher this time with the changes as all my go options have changed in terms of points value but am sure it won’t take long to get into the swing of it.

Good luck all!

bonfireheart · 05/01/2022 15:57

Glad to hear it's a diet that works @pipparose!

Hi all, I started on Monday and wooooah this plan is SO different to the Weight Watchers I remember from 2010! Back then I got down to my lowest ever adult weight (14st) but over the last 11 years I've regained, had a baby, gained some more, got PCOS, gained lots more. Went on low carb, lost 5st, put all that back on again after sniffing a piece of bread and now here I am. 12 years older, 6 years heavier and I can't go back to LCHF for 2 reasons that are way to boring to go in to in this post.

I'm now 20st exactly on new years day so it's like the universe is saying to me 'right you, that's a nice round number and plenty big enough. Off you pop'.

I've started ok. I had a meal planned for Monday night that I didnt want to waste so I tracked that and used all my dailies and all but 8 of my weeklies Blush - starting to understand where that 20st came from now... Hmm

I'm back up to 13 weeklies after banking some from yesterday and from my steps but I'm not worried. I'm not going over my points now I'm on the planned food anyway.

Because of my BMI I have 42 points per day and I have potatoes, parsnips, sweet potatoes all free as well as chicken and turkey. Fruit for me is not free which I was suprised at but it actually really suits me. I have PCOS so high carb/ high sugar is a no no.

The reason I never came back to WW sooner was because 10 years ago I got really good at gaming points. I was 21 and used to spend all my points on alcohol and then lived on pink wafers and noodles I used to cook in the kettle Blush. I was still in my points but most definitely not losing weight!

Anyway, I'm now older, wiser and I can't believe how far the plan has come in that time. You cannot game it anymore because sugar and sat fat is so pointy, and if it's food with low protein it's also usually really expensive. This is a good thing and it's forcing me to reach for proper food.

The getting points back for non starchy veggies is ace too - my wrap at lunch time was full of leaf and cucumber because I'm trying to stock my weeklies back up a bit. Before, I'd never have bothered and just had the chicken and yoghurt+mint sauce raita with no salad.

bonfireheart · 05/01/2022 20:46

@DollyDingleberry it really does make you think about what you're eating and using your points on doesn't it. I popped into starbucks before school pick up for tea, and honestly it wasn't even nice and all I could think was that I could have some zero points fruit instead!
I've never done WW before and am so surprised at how good it is :) like the focus isn't just on food and denying yourself and eating carrots lol, the recipes on their app are actually really great. Had salmon and egg wrap at lunch which was lovely. I also like that in thr workshops I've attended they've been very clear that is about four key elements - food, activity, sleep and wellbeing. I think I'm getting into the swing of the food element. I joined an online workout this evening and was really good, am considering doing one at 7.30am tomorrow!! I've ordered a fitbit off amazon so can track my activity. It was actually fun being online with others to work out. Also nice that I can do them at home rather than juggling work, children, etc by going to the gym. Hoping to do at least three workouts a week. Then once I've got my head around all that I want to see what they do for wellbeing because its a priority for me in 2022 :) sleep will be the hardest as I have nocturnal seizures, but hopefully healthy body and healthy mind will help with those. Probably the most motivated I've been in a long time!!

Cooking noodles in the kettle did make me lol :)

You sound in exactly the right head space and from experience, if you get that right early doors you’ve cracked it.

Sleep is also an issue for me, I have a 9 month old who has dance parties in the wee hours. He’s a complete sadist and never apologetic.

I had a WW recipe tonight, it was Parmesan crusted chicken and it was gorgeous. Whole thing was 13 points and I got 2 back for the Brussels sprouts and the leeks.

I was properly full afterwards!

Hi everyone,
How are you all getting on? I had my first weigh in today and lost 6lb which I am so happy about.

I can totally relate re old style WW- I did it at university (way back when!) and lived on vodka and Diet Coke and jacket potatoes and 0 point veg sauce with the occasional packet of snack a jacks and curly wurlys Blush

This plan is so much better and I’m hopeful this year is the year for me.

ilovegreen · 08/01/2022 20:49

Wow @hopingforabrighterfuture2021, that’s fantastic! Well done.

Gooseysgirl · 08/01/2022 21:24

Hi all, I've just started again this week. Currently the heaviest I've ever been outside of being pregnant. I have a family occasion coming up in early May to spur me on. Aiming to lose 2st by then. WFH has had a big impact - v little exercise and snacks too readily available! Interested to see that previous low point salty snacks have gone up in value a lot... I need to read up on the new programme, I don't think I'm using it properly yet. I have been tracking every day but my weeklies went very fast!! However, have definitely had a week of eating a lot less crap so hopefully there will be a loss even if just a small one.

Gooseysgirl · 08/01/2022 21:25

6lb off is fab, well done! 🥳

PonyPals · 09/01/2022 12:42

Hope you don't mind if I join. Starting tomorrow. Just going through the app and finding it a bit confusing.
Everything seems to be zero points for me protein, potatoes, avocado, fruit. How can that be??
