I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

@cricketmum84 Yes it does go up and down but that's natural. I used to type my weight into a spreadsheet which would draw a graph showing a trend line and calculate a moving average which smoothes out the daily fluctuations but now I have am internet enabled scale that does that for me.

I just can't be doing with going to meeting once a week and "hoping" for a loss, it would do my head in.

szetox · 04/01/2019 11:14

@ByeGermsByeWorries do scroll up and use someone's referral link for a free extra month. Join online before you go to the meeting it's way cheaper

ByeGermsByeWorries · 04/01/2019 11:16

Thanks I will use the link Grin no meetings for me! I am socially awkward, even more so at my current weight. Sad

szetox · 04/01/2019 11:31

@lardass88 you could start a thread for recipies here but I do recommend having a look at Instagram, I'm enjoying seeing lovely photos of people's food.

I'm in Insta with the same username

cricketmum84 · 04/01/2019 11:37

Free month link here if anyone wants to use it? (Disclaimer - I get a free month too for the referral lol)

Instagram is a great idea - am going to set one up later today and follow you all!

@szetox I'm off social media for MH reasons ( but that's a whole different thread 😆) x

szetox · 04/01/2019 12:09

@lardass88 that's fair enough then !

SANDALS1014 · 04/01/2019 13:07

Jumping in with a quick note!

Lardass, my weigh in day is also Saturday and tomorrow I'll go to WW near me at 7:30am so, I can eat breakfast after the meeting.

Cricket, I weigh in every morning to keep myself aware of what I ate the day before. If I see a gain, I will know why! :)
Fab, lucky for you loving beans. I hate them in any form! It's the texture!
Tryingnewname, good for you getting back on track!
Szetox, you're so tech savvy! Internet enabled scales connected to your WW App? Really? :) I wouldn't know where to begin so, I'll step on my battery operated "Taylor" Scale (about 5 yrs old) every morning! Done! :)
Have a great day ladies!

Hi everyone,

I have been struggling to lose weight by myself for over a year, I have the motivation most of the time but the lapses set me back and I was too relaxed about it. I never had enough money to be able to join WW or anything until I changed jobs just before Christmas.

I've signed up to digital&studio yesterday, I'm using the app and the online tools already but will have my weigh in day on wednesdays.

I don't own scales at home because I found I developed an extremely unhealthy relationship with them so I don't even know what my start weight is yet. But I do know I'm the biggest I've ever been so I expect I'm around 15stone. My initial long term target is to get down to 12st. For my height that's still a little heavy but I know that when I was that weight before (many years ago) I was healthy and happy so I'm aiming for that to begin with. Once I reach it I might feel I can lose more.

My shorter term aim is to lose 1 stone by 8th April, when I go on holiday to Italy.

I chose to do studio membership because I need the extra push/pressure of having to be weighed in front of someone else to keep myself focussed. Otherwise I'm a bit too good at lying to myself. Blush

I'm glad to find you all on here. I'm sure I'll need lots of help from you all about points and recipes as well as motivation.

2019 is going to be a good year. I can feel it.

tryinganewname · 04/01/2019 14:58

If I'm 'in the zone' then rarely will my weight go up, even day by day - it's always the same or lower.

I always know when I'm going off the rails because I stop weighing myself every day Grin

lardass88 · 04/01/2019 17:43

I'm on the WW connect thingy. Called stickyfingers11 ( I am crap at usernames 😆) if anyone wants to follow me then I can follow back?

Talkstotrees · 04/01/2019 20:38

I’ve just followed you 88.

szetox · 04/01/2019 22:13

I'll be following too. I'm bunsen_cb on Connect

cricketmum84 · 04/01/2019 22:39

I'm following you @lardass88

RaggieDolls · 05/01/2019 08:42

I weighed in yesterday and I've lost 1.5lb which is good news as I joined Monday and was persuaded to eat and drink a mountain of crap NYE.

On to a new week now with a portion of zero point soup in the fridge for lunch. I'm going to add 30g orzo pasta (3sp) to it so it's a bit more filling.

Happy weekend all.

lardass88 · 05/01/2019 09:56

1.5lb loss for me. Chuffed with that seeing as I only started mid week.. has put me in the right frame of mind to do well this week 😊

lardass88 · 05/01/2019 09:56

@RaggieDolls did you make the soup yourself?

cricketmum84 · 05/01/2019 11:13

I snuck on the scales this morning (official weigh in day is Tuesday) and since starting a week before Christmas I've lost a whole stone!!! That's a decent dent in my target :)

RaggieDolls · 05/01/2019 13:26

I sure did @lardass88. It's quite nice actually. Would obviously be better with two rounds of buttered toast and some cheese but we can't have everything 😂

Wow @cricketmum84 that's incredible. Well done!

lardass88 · 05/01/2019 13:31

@cricketmum84 that's excellent! Well done!
@RaggieDolls can I ask how you made it? Just trying to think of low /no point lunches to take to work

RaggieDolls · 05/01/2019 13:42

Yes, @lardass88. There are quite a few variations of no point soup but mine is:

  • sauté 1 x onion and 1/2 tsp of lazy garlic in Fry Light.
  • add half a red pepper and two celery sticks.
  • add half a large diced courgette and two small carrots.
  • add 1 x chicken stock cube and 1 pint water.
  • add tinned chopped tomatoes and 1/2 tbs tomato purée.
  • add dried oregano, chilli flakes and black pepper.

You can add some more water to get the consistency you want. I don't put much in so it's a thick, chunky soup.

Sometimes I add orzo. Sometimes I add red lentils for 0 points and blend to a smooth soup.

Technically the stock cube is 1point and 0.50 for 1/2 tbs Tomato purée but I tend to ignore that as it makes three portions and you can count less than a point.

Zero point lunch for work is hard but when I did this before I tended to get a salad for just the points in the dressing.

WeightWatching2019 · 05/01/2019 13:54

Not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in to see what theChristmas damage has been! however, I am looking forward to getting back to my own routine and I'm going to start an exercise class next week too Smile

Well done everyone who is already seeing losses! Very encouraging!

Still haven't had chance to get instagram sorted out yet but it's on my to-do list!

Hi!
Would love to join you all.
I’m about to sign up next week to lose the baby weight. I think I will really struggle as have been living off sugar the last few months to keep me awake but can’t do that forever.
I last did WW when it was pro points which I loved so a bit worried about joining up on the new plan. Very worried about so much food being free now that’s why I loved pro points cause only fruit and veg were free so I could eat as much as I like and still lose I just had to stick within my points. Now I can stick within my points but still eat too much but I’m ready to give it a try and see how I get on.
Thinking of doing the three month join up and see how I go. Not sure what my goal is yet will have to see how bad first weigh in is!
