I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

@Squiffy01 before you join be sure to look through this thread and find someone's referral link so you can get an extra month for free.

RaggieDolls · 06/01/2019 12:20

Here's my referral link if anyone still needs one.

There is a zero point hummus you can make. It's not quite the same so generally I find I'd rather spend the points on the real thing, but the recipe is:

1 can of chickpeas, drained
2 sachets of the ww balsamic dressing
1 clove of garlic, chopped
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp fat free yoghurt

Whizz it all together in a blender and it makes a fairly decent substitute

cricketmum84 · 06/01/2019 13:25

Fab thank you @flimple !

I'll give that a go this week. I love a bit of hummous to dip my veg in :)

tryinganewname · 06/01/2019 14:18

Why does WW hate cous cous so much?! Just had 1/2 packet and it was 6SP.. suppose it's on a level with pasta? Just doesn't feel as worth it Grin

SANDALS1014 · 06/01/2019 14:53

Squiffy, welcome to the group! It's a great user name and fun to say, like Winnebago or Fluffernutter!
Thanks to someone posting a soup recipe yesterday, I made a pot of my own that was so easy, a kid could make it!
Saute' 1/4 chopped onion & garlic in a pot in a little olive oil. Add two cartons chicken broth, 2 cups peeled/sliced carrots, 1 cup chopped celery, a cup of shredded cabbage, small can of green chili peppers, a splash of white wine, oregano, parsely, S&P, a tub of microwavable brown/wild rice, and a few squirts of hot sauce. Let it all simmer for about a half hour and it's done! OMG, it is SO good! On Saturday Dec. 29th I weighed 175 lbs. I weighed in yesterday at 171 and this morning I lost another 1.4 lbs. so, it's good to see I'm at 169.6 in just one week! Hope my success will inspire others because the new WW Freestyle plan works!!
Have a great day ladies!

SANDALS1014 · 06/01/2019 15:05

Ah, I see!! I doesn't show up until the message is posted so, there I am. The Go Cup I'm holding says: "Christmas Calories Don't Count" but, they DO and that's why I joined Weight Watchers!

Lots to lose but determined to sort it out in 2019 and get back into all my lovely clothes so I'm rejoining.

RaggieDolls · 06/01/2019 17:44

Totally agree @tryinganewname! Pasta seems much better value at 6sp.

I think they are really trying to lower the carb intake on flex by pointing potatoes, pasta, rice etc so much higher than it was on the old pro points diet. Is it sad I can remember loads of the points values from 2002?!

I lost nearly 3 stone of university beer weight then. It fell off, was really easy and stayed off for ages. My target weight now is 2 stone higher than my goal weight then and I know I will struggle even to make that. Sad

Oh to have my 21 year old metabolism and body back.

WeightWatching2019 · 06/01/2019 19:17

First day ‘on it’ today... 1.1kg gained since Christmas Eve which is nowhere as bad as I was fearing!

Have been tracking everything today and am very pleased to see salmon is now zero points, I remember when a fillet was 6 points! Now, if only WW would learn to see the light about avocado! Grin

Well done Sandals, a very inspiring post indeed! And well done to Raggie and everyone else who is staying strong in the face of temptation Star

I've just prepped my lunch for tomorrow.. tiddly jacket potato with chicken and salad.. the tiny potato worked out at 6points! Think I'll for for pasta on Tuesday!

tryinganewname · 06/01/2019 21:34

5 'blue dot' days in a row now and I went for a run this morning.. feeling great Grin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 06/01/2019 21:41

Hello all. I'm back on ww and quite liking the new plan.

I got to goal on 123 success and loved the old points, but then put weight back on and never really got on with pro points or smart points.
THe amount of food that doesn't require actively counting is really helping me not obsess about what and how much I can eat.

Just before Christmas I joined up on a free month (and got another free month using the referral link) and lost half a stone. I've put a few lb of that back on with not counting, planning or caring what I ate over the last three weeks, with lots of family and work meals out as well as plenty chocolate biscuits and alcohol.

Today I did the healthy shop. Had a last hurrah of a takeaway with the kids and have planned some healthy meals.

Mostly, I'm back to the salads for lunch that I have at school/work that keep me on track easily. I don't have to do much thinking beyond having a balanced meal in the evening and avoiding snacking as much as is possible. I have greek yogurt or porridge for if I do succumb, although I'm going to have to hide remaining biscuits - as a teacher I got rather a lot of biscuits and chocolates.

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 07/01/2019 14:42

Today is day 6 100% on track with WW online and I’m already feeling so much better! Hope everyone is doing well.

SadieSue29 · 07/01/2019 17:59

Hi all

New to this group, I joined weight watchers last year and lost 3 stone and got to goal, I've put on 6lbs since I went to my last meeting last September, so I am back on the plan with an aim to lose a stone this time, my bmi is 22.

I take breakfast to work, stuck in a rut of microwave omelette and fat free yoghurt, oats and berries. Any good breakfast suggestions?

I'm going on holiday in 5 weeks so really on a push to lose some.

Off for a healthy food shop tonight.

ChipsAreLife · 07/01/2019 18:11

Hi all, I'll join!

I started this in December and lost 7lbs in two and a half weeks but have put it all back on now. I would like to lose two stone of my baby weight (who is two ) by summer. But my first aim is to lose 10lbs to get back to a healthy BMW's by end of March.

My biggest problem is I'm terrible at weekends. I love a wine and hearty dinners, but trying to make healthier curries etc.

I've started again today and feeling really good. Got 8 points left for dinner so thinking of a nice salad with eggs and chicken to fill me up.

There are some great ideas for meals on the app so just need to get into cooking more!

ChipsAreLife · 07/01/2019 18:12

BMWs?! Lol BMI!!!! Stupid auto correct

TeamRocket · 07/01/2019 18:14

Hi everyone!

Been doing weightwatchers since last January, lost 3st 3lb of baby weight so far. Still got about 2.5st to go. Put in 4lb over Christmas but I certainly enjoyed myself doing it. Back on it this week!

mommybunny · 07/01/2019 21:42

I’m on Day 6, aiming to lose around 11kg (around 24lbs, or 1stone 10!). I joined before my first weigh-in because I wanted to have the plan in hand and hit the ground running. I made up an approximate starting weight and am pleased to say I was 1.4kg lighter than that at my first weigh-in! It’s already working 🤣!

Random thoughts:

I wouldn’t worry about overeating to the point of gaining weight on zero point foods. There are only so many eggs, so many bowls of fat free yogurt, so many chicken breasts you can eat before you can’t look at another morsel.

I do wish WW wasn’t so hooked on low-fat substitutes like “light” cheese and spread. Fat-free yogurt and skimmed milk I don’t mind so much because they don’t make up the fat with artificial ingredients. But I just don’t see the point of low calorie cheese, and would rather eat cardboard than a slice of toast with “spread” on it.

Latest favourite snack: fat/free Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of honey and a cut up banana. One point. Keeps me from feeling too deprived as I drift off to sleep.

Does anyone have the MapMyRun app synced to WW? Mine seems to be double-counting workouts with points for steps as well as time/distance run. The online coach was useless and said it may be something I need to fix in MMR settings. Anyone else have this?

On same subject, Connect also pretty useless - the social media thing is just not up my street. Maybe I’m just too old (I remember when the plan was 6 breads, 2fruits, 3 proteins etc per day!). An emoji here and there is fine but all the hashtags get irritating. A forum like this is much more my speed.

Good luck everyone!

FabulousUsername · 07/01/2019 23:43

Haha mommybunny, I was just thinking about the old plans! I think the first time I joined the colour scheme was very hot pink and white...we ticked off breads/protein allowance etc. They changed to points about the time my (23year old) DD was born. I'm optimistic about this year but not looking forward to the post Xmas weigh on Wednesday. Seems so unfair that I can't eat like a 'normal' person though 3/4 of a Christmas cake is not normal without putting on loads of weight. I thought I had it cracked last summer as I was losing consistently albeit slowly, and being analytical I was doing more exercise which I enjoyed while the weather was good. I've got a bad cold and am staying away from the gym. But it's the diversion away from food that I need, too easy to spend the when evening on the sofa Blush

Talkstotrees · 08/01/2019 12:30

Just back from my weekly meeting (“studio” now 😊) followed by spin class at the gym 😇💪

3.5lbs off since I started back last Thursday 🎉💃🏼 We can do this!

soupforbrains · 08/01/2019 12:45

Hi everyone I have a question, are you supposed to try to use all of your daily points or is it ok/good to go under them?

I had an atrocious start to my WW life aside the first couple of days (weds, thurs, fri) I had to use up the pre-made meals I had prepared before signing up and didn't have the chance to shop for alternatives. The weekend was good, hit my targets, yesterday was a miss but today is on target to be 9 points under my daily allowance.

Ditsy79 · 08/01/2019 14:03

Hi! Can I join? I started back on ww yesterday after a few months off it, and have at least 3 stone to lose. So far, I have stayed on track (but it's only day 2!).

lardass88 · 08/01/2019 14:11

@soupforbrains I'm using the app so my points are automatically deducted or added on. So if I go over my daily points it comes off my weekly ones. If I have any left over only two can be added on to the next day. If that makes sense x

Talkstotrees · 08/01/2019 16:49

@I think you’re supposed to stay in the blue dot zone - going too far under your points is not good.
Not sure why though Grin
