I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

@fozzzz the human body can lose around 2lb of fat in a week. Slightly more for men. So while your 8lb is a big loss it's not all fat. When you start a new diet you lose a lot of retained water, fluids and other waste that was previously held in your body.

Be prepared for your weight loss to vary week on week based on a few things. When you first start a new exercise regime your body may retain more water so you may see a slow weight loss which doesn't seem logical with the increase in exercise. If you maintain your regime, your body will become used to it and release the retained fluids giving bigger weight loss a few weeks in.

Hope this helps.

@redavocado would you mind pointing these for me?

Peckish Rice Crackers tangy barbecue flavour
Barcode no. 5000354405402
Values per 100g
Kcal 444
Fat 9.7
Saturates 0.5
Carb 82.7
Sugars 0.9
Fibre 0.9
Protein 6.0

Portion size is 25g

I bought them as a sub for my normal rice crackers and assumed they'd be the same points but now I've opened them they have a very different texture and things so could be very different.

So far so good. Expected a slightly better result on the scales but am happy. Starting in to a new week now. Very determined.

Hello Mums..
I've just lost 8lb in week 1 ?!?!
I've checked the scales - they're ok. Can anyone tell me what has happened here!
I felt bloated and without energy. So we started 'Weight watchers Core Plan' together a week ago. I last did this diet with dedication a decade ago (lost 2st in 3 months). It is now discontinued, I don't know why, it worked well for me.
We're eating well, putting a lot of effort into tasty but legal meals. It's basically no sugar, no bread, low fat (the concept of core foods is still strong I see). I normally eat meat, but only a bit of chicken this week. My wife is vege and we've eaten the same, but she's only lost 2lb (she's not impressed!!).
It's obviously a huge (healthy) celebration - but that said I don't feel any slimmer. I feel less bloated, my energy has come back a bit (but I am still fighting off a cold).
The question is - Could I have been carrying around 8lb in my gut? Are there any WW gurus out there who know what has happened?
I am a 47y/o 6'2" man formally weighing 16.2 now 15.8...

Still going okay I think. Tracking and generally trying to live healthily.

I'm trying the Blue plan. It looks like the best one for me. I'm afraid of too much freedom! Blush
So far so good anyway. Day 3.

If you don't like Connect there are several really friendly and helpful Facebook groups

I would like to join in here too please. Rejoined last night and got the new plan. Leader suggested Blue to me so I'm going to go with that. Going shopping later to make sure I have everything. Looking forward to the chats here. Best of luck everyone.

@redavocado thanks! That will be really helpful! I will get signed up again. At Christmas if not before (as am asking for a few months for xmas present).

I was looking at the new plans this morning. I think that having fewer zero points foods would probably help me lose more weight but like you I can’t quite cope with that change especially with being about to not have the app for point checking! So I won’t be ‘going green’ just yet.

The purple plan would be a bad idea for me as more zero points foods would almost certainly just mean I would be eating too much (portion control is not a strength of mine)

I can see how the different plans would work well for different people though. Some people struggle with portion control (so fewer zero foods might help) while others struggle more with picking the ‘right’ foods so for them fewer points and more zero foods might help.

Hello everyone! Nice to see some more people on here. Smile

@soupforbrains - I'd love to support you in this! I don't find connect very user friendly, especially compared to the old ww message boards with their search function. If you ever need any ideas/points/etc, just ask! It sounds like you're doing really well though and if you know what works for you, I'm sure you'll do fine without your subscription.

@mamanatural - how did your first week go? @funtimefrankie - what do you think of the new plans? I'm sticking with blue for now because I can't face weighing chicken and yogurt!

Hi everyone I’ve been off Mumsnet for ages but have been plodding on with WW I was very casual about tracking at all over the summer but managed not to put on weight so that was good. Have been back on it since September and am making progress. Slowly but always in the right direction.

I’ve lost 1st 11lb so far this year. I’m working hard to get to 2st down in the next week or two and I’m hoping to get to 2st 7lb by the end of the year.

BUT I’ve hit a problem. Money is very tight right now and I can’t actually afford my WW subscription my payment is overdue and they’re going to cancel my account any day now. I meal plan out for the whole month and so a big monthly stock up shop so only have to pick up small fresh produce in between. So I think I can just continue with the meals I know work within my budgets. It I’m hoping you guys will give me the support I will miss out on? I also won’t be able to weigh in until I can afford to re-join so will just have to try and stay focussed and hopefully see a big difference when I am able to rejoin.

Ahh I miss the days of ww while breastfeeding! I lost my pregnancy weight doing ww while I was on mat leave. It's definitely harder when you don't have such a generous points allowance!

I'm getting through a ridiculous amount of 0% fat Greek yogurt and eggs which is getting expensive and I'm also noticing that grazing between the nursery run and dinner is my main issue.

mamanatural · 06/11/2019 14:34

@redavocado Hi thanks for the welcome. I'm finding it ok but so shocked how much I usually eat without thinking about it! Didn't realise how much I graze until I wrote it down. Feeling pretty hungry but think that's probably because of breastfeeding. I'm on 41 points at the moment and will drop when weaning is more established so eating quite a lot Carb based n m ears and snacking in free in between. How are you finding it?

Hi mamanatural! This thread seems pretty quiet but thought I'd say hello as I also signed up on Monday after gaining a stone since returning to work after mat leave in Jan - oops! It would be nice to have a buddy! How are you finding it?

Hi everyone Smile
I've just started following WW at home (was given smart point books and calculator by a friend)
I'm 6 months postpartum but haven't managed to shift the baby weight by myself. Still breastfeeding so hope the points stretch!
2 stone to lose (2.5 would be nice Smile)
I'm also a vegetarian, are there any veggies following WW?

Hi all! I've just rejoined WW. I did it years ago successfully and need to lose about 15-20lb.

I've just pointed up tomorrow which is a bit bleak but I need to use up food that I've got. I'm going shopping tomorrow to stock up and then hopefully after the initial hunger, I'll get into it.

It's more like SW I think but I'll give it a go. All your success stories are inspiring!

I have ditched the app as well it's really irritating however I think I've got into a nice groove with mainly eating free food so don't need to worry too much about points

I joined ww three days ago, for 3 months. The app is driving me mad but I’m just doing it because the half a stone I put on a year or two ago has increased to about 12lbs and I’m nipping it in the bud.

I'm down another 3.5 lbs this weigh in. So I got my silver 7 keyring. I'm not yet even back to the weight I am when I usually think "must do something about the weight gain" and rejoin however.... so I need to crack on, head down. It's really tough TBH.

From 123pounds to 130pounds, I am gaining and not happy about it.
I just started to skip dinner and intermittent fasting wherein I can only eat between 7am to 4pm.
