I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

Hi everyone

Hope you don't mind me joining you! I'm a WW member, I joined last January (it'll be my "anniversary" on Tuesday Grin) and I've lost 54 lbs so far, just over a stone to get to goal. This is about my fourth attempt at weight watchers and I find this flex/freestyle plan is the best one yet. I lost my way a little bit over December (too much temptation from the nice festive food!) but feeling focused again now. Happy to share any tips/recipes Smile

It's great to see new people here :) lets all try to keep it going and not fizzle out :)
I'd LOVE any tips or recipes as I'm still getting my head around it all. Well done on such a massive weight loss so far! What's your tips?

Hi everybody! This group has gotten so big, I can't address everyone individually but, DID want to say HI and brag about losing 4 lbs this week. (how many stones is that?)
Thanks for the soup recipe, Raggie. Can't wait to try it. I love all the zero point options and swear they're lifesavers, if I get hungry, which is rare.

I restarted WW online on 2nd Jan. heaviest I have ever been and determined to sort it. WW has worked amazingly for me in the past so I know it’s possible. I need to lose at least 8 stone. Shock

Lardass....I bought a bottle of WW sauce at my meeting this morning to put on grilled chicken. Do they sell them at your meetings? There are 3 varieties. (Chipotle, Hollandaise, & mushroom) I bought mushroom and can't wait to try it.

Lardass I think my top tips would be to plan as much as you can (I just plan a day at a time but I know others who do a full week) and also maximise the zero points list. There are so many meals you can make out of chicken, chickpeas, beans, Quorn mince etc I like to batch cook things like veggie chilli, soups, bolognaise etc to freeze so if I have a bit of a slip up I can always claw back points on dinner. Also use your weeklies for treats so you don't feel you're depriving yourself as I find I'm less likely to go off track if I still have the odd biscuit/pudding when I really fancy it!

@SANDALS1014 I don't go to meetings but I'll look online for it!
@flimple great tips.. I've sat and worked out meals, written them all up on the kitchen blackboard ( this time I WILL stick to it ) and went to aldi and got all the ingredients. No extras at all. I even had a go with the barcode scanner point thingy on the app.. it was really good! It worked out some of their own healthy ready meals at around 3-4 points. I thought this was a bit too good to be true so didn't get any

Alright, I have to ask, what is QUORN? Don't laugh but, it might be corn? Quinoa? You girls in the UK have as many strange food items just like we have in America. DO you have Quinoa in the UK? I love it but, it has a lot of calories.

I'm off to make the soup! It sounds delish!!

Also, what is "courgette?" I'm hoping we have substitutes for both "quorn" and "courgette."

Report
lardass88 · 05/01/2019 17:38

You call courgettes zucchini I think. And quorn is a meat substitute.

Signing up tonight (doing it online only) and doing the online food shop ready to start Monday when I'm back at work. Tried SW last year and didn't get on with it. Had good results in the past with WW so hopefully will help kickstart my 2019 as a healthy one!

@SANDALS1014 Quorn is a vegetarian meat substitute made from a mushroom protein. They form and flavour it into sausages, patties, ‘chicken’ breasts etc. It’s actually better than it sounds 😂

hi everyone,
I signed up on weds & went to a meeting / studio, I would really appreciate some ideas and recipes to help me kick start this.
Today I have made the chicken, tomato & mozzarella with tagliatelle from the WW app. It was pretty good.
Does anyone know what fluffies are - some of the connect posters mention them as low point desserts, I think.

Hi.

I lost 9lbs on WW last year but had a wobble and stopped following the plan, but carried on going to group and getting weighed. I'm ready to start again properly and have my first week planned out. Weigh in Monday, not been for two weeks as the class has been closed over Christmas.

When I'm in the right mindframe I plan a week at a time for my main meals and then I know how many extra points I have for snacks or additions. I also find that having it written down that Tuesday is salmon and veggies then it happens, and I always like knowing what I'm going to eat next.

I've got about three stone to lose, which I would like to do this year.

@notsohot fluff? It's a sort of mousse-like dessert made with sugar free jelly and fat free yoghurt. From memory it's something like jelly crystals dissolved in 1/2 pint water, then you add a big pot of yoghurt and whisk until its frothy. Then you chill for 2 hours and it makes a zero point dessert that's a bit like a firmer set mousse

Thanks @flimple, I have some jelly crystals so might give it a go later in the week

I was strong last night! Went to an Ann summers party at my mums and she had done a lovely buffet of all things pastry, home made sausage rolls, mini pizzas and quiche.

Me and my sister took carrot, pepper and cucumber sticks and some low fat hummous! And I only had one teeny tiny slice of quiche. I'm feeling pretty determined this week!

Report
lardass88 · 06/01/2019 09:51

@cricketmum84 buffets are the hardest!
How many points is hummus may I ask? Can't find it on the app?

I went over to a friend's house last night. Diet lemonade and two Celebrations for me which was hard as there was wine, prosecco, crisps and nuts.

2sp per tablespoon for the reduced fat type. I'm sure there is a recipe on the app for a homemade one that's a lot lower but I didn't have time to make any.

I've been sticking to 10,000 steps a day this week which doesn't feel like enough exercise but will have to be a start. Want to start couch to 5k at some point.
