So I've been pashing over frozen cherries for breakfast, overnight oats with zero Greek yoghurt almond essence and frozen cherries, this morning I had frozen fruit microwaved with yoghurt and oats on top. Lunch today was carrot and lentil soup (zero) and crumpets (6) made a bumper bowl of mixed bean salad and tuna for lunch the first part of the week. I'm going no count next week so I can make some rice/couscous meals .

Lambbone · 19/01/2018 18:04

Hi can I come and play?

I've never been on a diet in my life and probably haven't weighed myself for 40 years (I'm 54) but have become increasingly aware that my belly has become rather slab like and I have started to get a wodge of podge at the bottom of my back/top of my bum. And size 18 is getting a bit of a tight squeeze.

So I joined ww online yesterday. You have to put your weight in when you sign up so I guessed. Oh how wrong I was.....

First meeting today. Got weighed. FIFTEEN BLOODY STONE. I'm a sodding whale. Looks like I signed up just in time.

I know I will struggle at work as there are so many biscuits floating about. I look forward to hearing about everyone's snacking choices. I may just take in a load of fruit. And lunches- well I don't work Friday so could use the day to batch cook soup.

Fortunately I like cooking so I will have to see this as a complete lifestyle overhaul.

Breakfast will be a trial as I do enjoy lavish quantities of butter on toast.

And gin. How many points in a large gin and tonic?

5 point chicken jalfrazi tonightSmile

MamOfTwo · 19/01/2018 19:03

Is Flex radically different to the old points system? And is it mostly focused on using an app now? Thinking about braving a meeting next week. Have done WW and SW in past but think I preferred WW. The SW boards on here are a lot busier - wonder why that is?

sportyfool · 19/01/2018 21:20

Slimming world is more popular because You can eat more . In my experience there is always a massive queue for all classes whereas ww often are very quiet. Having done both I prefer ww ( partly because of the queue if I'm honest😬😬 ) And because it teaches you portion control

MyBoysAndI · 20/01/2018 11:10

I'm trying to get used to the app. I have weight the potatoe I'm having for dinner and it's 400g. I'm working it out at 16 points. Is that correct?Shock

4lb off for me today, that’s two weeks in a row, I certainly didn’t expect it this week.

I use the Hairy Bikers recipes a lot they seem to really get some flavour into their cooking. Weekend breakfasts I make pancakes with eggs and apple sauce (substitute for banana because they are evil). I use Ella’s kitchen baby food because I am lazy and have either rindless bacon or yoghurt and fruit. The pancakes are free and really filling!

MyBoysAndI · 20/01/2018 14:21

Many thanks. It's for a baked potato for me with beans

Paperdolly · 20/01/2018 19:56

Hell... is apple sauce better because you're diabetic? My friend who has diabetes says there is too much potassium in bananas which is rubbish for his diabetes. I might use this Apple idea if so. 👍🏻

I’m not Paper I just don’t like the taste of banana.

That food looks wonderful and I love your plates.

Paperdolly · 21/01/2018 21:29

Thanx Hell. The plates were from Wilko by the way. Make every meal posh! 😁

Has anyone else found the WW Chicken and Cheritso (?). Says 13 on the box but 10 on the scanner? Delicious though!

Just thought... it could be it's not been converted to Flexi points eh? So I got an unexpected bonus for lunch. Smile

Hey all just joined WW get weighed tomorrow Confused really not looking forward to that! Just working out what I can (and cannot) eat! For the week.

Lambbone · 23/01/2018 15:54

Day 5 of ww, day 2 back at work since signing up.

This certainly forces a level of discipline doesn't it? I have menu planned for the whole week including lunches, and can see that I will have to continue doing so. So easy to just pick up some sausages on the way home from work - but no longer.

As I'm new I've been mostly cooking stuff from the WW literature where the points have been calculated, but can see I shall have to branch out. As Hell.. suggests, Hairy Bikers may be the way to go. I have, quite coincidentally, cooked some of their diet stuff in the past and it has been really good. Quite a lot of the WW stuff is basically tinned tomatoes with veg. Perfectly tasty but could get a bit dull. I'll start mixing it up a bit next week.

I was pleased with the weekly points at the weekend though as I had plenty of wine (and gin!) and still have points left.

When I signed up I was toying with the idea of not telling DH, to see if he noticed I was losing weight (she says hopefully). But as I do all the cooking I thought I'd better tell him because of course he'll be affected. And he's really enjoying it too. On Sunday we had venison steak (reduced in Waitrose!), roast potatoes and beans and a bottle of red wine and it really didn't make much of a dent in the weekly points. So we are both pleased with the treats available. He's a skinny bugger so he can rush out for a Mars Bar if he wants one.

Work snacks OK so far. I now have a fruit bowl in my office, and have had a rice cake with peanut butter for elevenses both days.

I know it is early days but I can do this. I gave up smoking I can bloody do this!

Paperdolly · 23/01/2018 16:20

I've had a hairy bikers cottage pie for lunch. Extra delicious as it's been made by my husband for us.

Trouble is once I'd eaten it he starts to confess how he didn't have 'X' so he substituted it with something carbi. And then he put two stock cubes in instead of one for taste. can't win. 🙄

JessicaPeach · 23/01/2018 18:32

Hi All, can I join too please? I started on Sunday, enjoying it so far. I've done slimming world at home before and been quite successful but I like the idea that you can eat more processed food on weight watchers (not sure I should be confessing to that!). My MIL is a weight watchers evangelist so she is delighted that i've crossed to the dark side!

sportyfool · 23/01/2018 19:02

I'm going out for dinner.. wish me luck !!🙏🏻🙏🏻

sportyfool · 23/01/2018 19:03

@JessicaPeach I agree , I don't feel anything is off limit so don't go crazy and eat it all in one go . I've done both and prefer WW .

JazzHandsJack · 23/01/2018 19:25

I’m not joining a club, but am going to buy the books off eBay and do from home. Can I join still please? 😊

JessicaPeach · 23/01/2018 19:37

Yes sporty, I kind of like that I can have a slice of toast with my breakfast and a sandwich for lunch and still be able to have a treat in the evening, which I wouldn’t be able to on slimming world as I’d refuse to smash all my syns on bread!

HoosierDaddy · 23/01/2018 20:02

Hello. I am on my 3rd week of Flex, w/i on Thursday. Had a very boozy weekend, with hangover crisps, so trying to balance it out now.

I don't eat meat at all, and very little egg or dairy, but I am finding the plan accommodates this very easily.
