Go Trimmer!!! Gold star!

Feeling rubbish here today, worst night we have had since DD was newborn, not all her (though mostly her ), just too farking hot!! Had about 1.5 hours sleep! As a result we are all feeling hot, & irritable, could be a long weekend!

Had a cheeky hop on the scales, tis a gain, not surprising, but not as bad as it could have been. Will save the stats for Monday to see if I can implement any damage limitation!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/07/2010 17:47

GT - you amazing woman - fab loss this week! Hope you found the book - it is quite old but a classic. We have it here and I could try to get it to you if you are desperate for it. I'm sure we could work something out!

Bebe - my two were quite chronically bad at sleeping, DS (11) still doesn't sleep as long as I think he should, but as he reads to enthusiastically it is fine! He takes after DH who thrives very happily on about 4 hours sleep a night, and is often in the wrong time zone

When they were tiny, DH and I used to say we had good nights ( few and far between ) bad nights ( quite commonplace ) and comedy nights ( which we so bad, they were a joke.) I am thinking you had a Piste style Comedy Night!!

bebejones · 11/07/2010 09:23

Piste - yes Friday night was definately a comedy night! DD screamed til half 10, I went to bed at 11 fell asleep bout half 12ish, DD woke up at 1, screamed til half 3 & then I didn't get back to sleep til 6! Horrendous! She is usually a really good sleeper though so these night's are always a bit of a shock to the system IYSWIM?! Then last night I had to get up and go to the loo about 4 & then couldn't switch my brain off so was awake again til 6ish! Grrrrr! I need sleep!! The steroids are known to muck about with your sleep patterns too, and the hot weather isn't helping either!

Need to get my head back in the game this week ladies, going to be needed the cheer squad out! Had last lot of steroids yesterday Woohoo!!!! Just hoping things don't start getting worse again now I've stopped them got a hospital appt with specialist nurse this week so will see what he says. Lack of sleep is not particularly helpful though, but what can ya do!?

Made a scrummy pasta bake for dinner last night with lf garlic bread (but didn't have much) but did have a cadburys caramel ice cream for afters! In my defense I had just dragged myself to Tescos & it was bloody hot even at 8pm!! Got cold chilcken & roasted new potatos & salad for dinner. Not sure what to have for lunch though? Really fancy pesto chicken pasta but prob shouldn't!

GettinTrimmer · 11/07/2010 11:46

bebe What an awful night It seems cooler today so easier to get a bit of rest.

And a woohoo! from me, hope you get a long break from those steriods. I would say go for pesto chicken pasta for lunch, I remember Blondes said pesto is alright on ww, and keep pasta portion fairly modest.

piste I feel like I'm going down the Flat Stanley road, dh will blow the pictures from the book up at work for me (I know it's a small group, but I thought it would grab their attention and stimulate discussion), and it's funny. Also I feel on safe ground as I've read the book to children before.

The school has offered to lend a book from their library, I'd like to have the opportunity to look around as I love libraries anyway.

I am pleased at my 2lb loss Not great yesterday though, take away curry in the evening and just snacking throughout the day. Back to it today for me.

Have a good Sunday all.

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/07/2010 14:10

GT - I think Flat Stanley might be a better bet for the age group, although MAonW is fabulous, you should have a look at it anyway. It is fun.

I remember doing a circle time/small group work leading from Flat Stanley, because at the end of the story FS is fed up about being different, and his friends tease him about his shape and as I recall his mother tells him it isn't right to be prejudiced about anyone whether it is shape, religion, colour etc. There is also the issue of sibling rivalry. Those might be a bit heavy for this occasion! It is such a fun story though, and there are plenty of light hearted moments.I love it when he is posted, and the stuff in the museum.

I think it was written in the 1960s, so that is impressive. It must be good to have lasted and appealed to subsequent generations!

Good luck GT!!

Murtette · 11/07/2010 19:18

I have been bad, bad, bad this weekend. We went away which was lovely (well, apart from DD being awake and wanting to practice waving between 3am and 5am but, having read about Bebe's DD, I don't feel I can complain) but seemed to involve lots of food - an ice cream yesterday afternoon, a cream tea was more or less forced on me when we arrived at the hotel, 3 course dinner with tiramasu for dessert (which, for the first time ever, I found a bit rich and actually left a small amount) and then to a friend's for lunch and another ice cream when we stopped at some services on the way home. I'll tell you the damage tomorrow and will be being very good this week to try and balance it out.

Bebe - did your DD sleep better last night?

GT - well done!! You've only got 1/2 a stone to go, haven't you? I bet you're going to feel a lot more confident going to your interview looking slinky. Do you need to get a new outfit for the interview? I used to do a reading thing with Yr 2 kids in one of my previous jobs and we should be careful doing regional accents in case we typecast characters (eg the taxi driver in a story was a cockney). Do you know if the children you're reading are likely to have English as their first language or at least speak/understand it fluently? That can have a big impact on how much you have to explain as you go along. Could you speak to your local library/the school's local library and find out what initiatives they have going on with schools? One of the schools I used to go to took the Yr 2 children to the local public library once a term to get them familiar with the idea of visiting it. They generally browsed around, were told how it was divided into fact and fiction and then had a story read to them. Good luck!

Piste - are you on hols now? What are your plans for the summer?

bebejones · 11/07/2010 19:47

Evening all! Well officially back on the wagon 2moro! Had a nice day of finishing off naughty things although think I have still been reasonably good (apart from one square of Tiffin & a caramel icecream ) Was going to have pesto earlier but discovered it was off & was very cross!

Murtette - bless your DD practising waving, so cute! My DD did sleep better last night but I was still awke from 4 til 6 for no reason! Most annoying! Glad you had a nice time away, I'm sure one weekend will not be too bad, fingers crossed anyway! I am dreading weighing in again 2moro

GT - interview sounds very scary & exciting at the same time! Fingers crossed for you

Prob ought to go & watch the world cup with DH, thank God it is nearly over!

Good Luck for 2moro all weighers in!

with prob some fruit & plenty of water in between!

PBM - hope you are ok, thinking of you xx

Rather - we skied in La Thuile which is Aosta Valley, just the other side of the Mt.Blanc tunnel. DH and I went before we got married and had DS, so it was lovely to take him with us this time. My parents came too so we had some help with childcare!

Murtette · 12/07/2010 13:04

Afternoon ladies

I've not had a very good x3 days, no exercise since Friday and just can't get in the mood today, house a complete tip and trying to get motivated to clear it up!

Ali Yes, I think the shred minimises damage and gets rid of a multitude of sins! I am doing it tomorrow and Thursday this week.

And well done on your 1lb

Quite busy, visiting the school library where I've got the interview on Wednesday, volunteering in the dcs school Wednesday pm, taking my mum to London for her 80th Birthday on Thursday and interview on Friday.

bebe I agree 2lb is not a disaster, I put on 3.5lb over easter. We're in it for the long-haul, etc, etc, yeah yeah yeah

I will be foodfocusing for tues, weds and fri this week, but no hope on Thursday as having a meal and sparkly wine.

piste We're going on the London Eye on Thursday, then having a meal, after that going to an art exhibition in Brick Lane. My niece has just graduated with a really good textiles degree and she has an exhibition there. Do you venture to the east end?

murtette the 1lb will soon beat a retreat

Thanks for advice re school job, I know a school librarian I am meeting up with tomorrow who can advise me. Everything crossed.

PBM Yes, do come and chat. Take care x

Blondes and Laughalot should be back soon?

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/07/2010 13:35

A really rushed pop in! I am still a working until Friday, DD has already finished and we measured her this am and she is taller than me

Lost a pound this week which is great, really pleased, catch up properly later!

Ok quick post as ds birthday tomorrow had a fab holiday bot oh dear i put on half a stone [ blush] , hope everyone is ok and doing well what have i missed ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/07/2010 21:36

will read all posts tomorrow, but had a fab holiday, got in 3.30am this morning and back at work at 8am

sure i have gained tons as ate and drunk everything in sight, so will weigh on friday and sit on the step of shame

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/07/2010 22:29

I have been so good today - no snacks or anything pudding-ish.

Short term motivation is that my brother who I have fallen out with massively is getting married at the weekend. I have to go, but want to look as fabulous as possible obviously!

GettinTrimmer · 13/07/2010 10:29

Morning all

Blondes & laughalot Welcome back!!!!

Glad you had good holidays. Gains will soon become losses.

ali well done on having a good day.

Is it a big meringue dress type wedding or something less formal?

I have just done the 30 day shred, first exercise since Friday, and I am knackered. Must do it again tomorrow.

piste congrats on your 1lb.

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/07/2010 10:40

Morning everyone

GT - well done on shredding, I've just done mine for today. It was marginally easier than yesterday, maybe

It is a meringue wedding - and no children allowed including DS which is a root cause of the falling out. We are only going for the ceremony and meal because all our overnight childcare options will be at the wedding - something which brother and bridezilla don't appear to have grasped. So we will be coming home at about 6, and I'm planning to eat an enormous quantity of chinese food to make myself feel better! Sorry for rant, it is a sore subject

Well done piste

Hello blondes and laughalot - I have joined while you've been away and I'm finding these ladies brilliant for support and encouragement

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/07/2010 10:46

PBM im so sorry to hear your sad news ((hugs)) we are all here for you honey xx
BEBE sorry to hear been on steroids
TRIMMER fab news at interview
MURTETTE i did my measurements in jan and they havent chnaged tons and sure after my hols will have gone up again
PRETTY enjoy your holiday - i did lol
ALI welcome and I had a child free wedding as wanted my friends to enjoy and have a few drinks. I have been to some weddings where kids behave appallingly and parents do nothing about their screaming during vows etc tho sure yours wouldn't I am a nanny and often look after children at either wedding creches or at their home
PISTE pmsl that dd is taller then you
LAUGHALOT glad you had a fab holiday, i dread weigh on on fri, i guessimate a stone for me gain, i alsways do on holidays

i see you all missed me and prob enjoyed the peace and quiet holiday was wonderful, was the break mr blondes and i really needed after our shit year - loads of sex on the beach the cocktail kind but def some of the other kind as well but not on the beach lol

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/07/2010 11:45

Blondes if it was a friend's wedding then it would be fine - we would happily leave DS with my parents and go and let our hair down, but obviously my parents will be at the wedding, and other friends of the family who we would have left him with. Unfortunately DH's family are all disabled and so it's not fair on them, or safe really, to leave him with them overnight but they are having him for the afternoon. No wedding creche is being offered, and we can't afford to pay for a nanny for the weekend AND a hotel Sorry, don't mean to totally hijack the thread with this, it's the way they've gone about it as much as anything that has caused the problem, and things have got so bad now that I'm not sure the relationship can be mended.

bebejones · 13/07/2010 11:56

AliB - That is sad for you, I'm sure when they have DC (assuming they don't already) they will finally realise where you are coming from. I would never have even suggested not having children at my wedding. And it seems it is quite a tricky issue on MN. I suppose it depends on your background. I knew my friends & family & have a 'churchy' upbringing so knew that any children at the ceremony would be well behaved & that their parents would be respectful during the vows IYSWIM. But each to their own as they say, it is just sad for you that it has caused such a falling out. Hope that one day it will/can be resolved.

Blondes & Laughalot - welcome back!! It has been so quiet without you botgh!! And how we have missed Blondes talk of sausages!!

Feeling rough again today, have got a bit of a Summer cold which is really not helping & I feel wiped out. Haven't slept much over the weekend & now tring to catch up. Went to bed at 8.30 last night! Hoping DD has a nap later & I will have another lie down then.

Been trying to foodfocus but website won't load!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/07/2010 16:46

Bebe hope you've managed to squeeze in a nap - DS has refused his afternoon nap today for the first time ever!

FF is working ok for me today, how weird that it won't load

bebejones · 13/07/2010 17:04

It's been working this afternoon, must have been my internet.

Had a 2 hour snooze & DD had nearly 3 hours!! Will pay for it later I'm sure but it is bath night & she isn't very well (both got this stupid summer cold/cough) so hoping that she won't fuss too much at bedtime. DD goes through phases of not napping & then having a week of ridiculous naps. Growth spurts I assume?

Had Pesto chicken pasta for lunch again, was yummy. Jacket potato with beans for dinner. Loving the rain here today, much better! Being good with my cals as have some cake in the fridge and am saving a few cals for a small slice of that later!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/07/2010 17:15

BEBEmy dc just 2 still sleeps 2/3hrs a day
ALI dont worry about hijacking, we do wander off diet talk as well, esp sausages lol - as i said my wedding was childfree and i gave relatives 15mths to organise something and mr blondes sister didnt do anything so in the end think it was 3 days before reception and she rang and said her hubby wasnt coming and would look after kids - i offered to pay for a nanny near us for the afternoon/evening and they refused annoyed me that they didnt make childcare arrangemts as they said they would and had hjad months notice and i was paying and DEF a tricky subject on mn, its always in aibu

had a banana for breakie, tuna sandwich+strawberries for lunch and just had a jaffa cake

bebejones · 13/07/2010 18:45

Blondes - I like to think of Jaffa cakes as diet cakes! Only 1g of fat, not that high in cals...trouble is I find it difficult to stick to just 1!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/07/2010 19:42

true bebe - and on ww just 1 p

wonder if i couldeat 20 of them and nothing else one day
