PBM - REally nice to see you, I agree with the others re your sister, you do need her now, and she needs to know, I'm glad you have her...

Bebe - Buggery bollocks re the steroids, BUT you aren't taking them for a laugh, your body needs them right now. So stop worrying about the diet, take them, and when you stop you can move on again. You have done so well since we first met in January, and you aren't going to lose that. Plus, if you don't stop sulking I am coming round, and when I get there I shall be cross, and trust me I can be severe! Be strong!

GT - Are we married to the same man?! DH thinks marmite is the spawn of the devil, but like you, I love it on toast. Yum.
Marmite for me =
Marmite for DH =

Brie and Grapes =
Each to their own.

Thank you AliB, you and GT are really good at the exercise part, tell me, do you close the curtains when you do the DVD? Because I will have to, because if I don't a small crowd will gather to look at me being a loon!!! LOL
I'm going to find a linky to make sure you think I am ordering the right DVD from Amazon, I will do that in a mo.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/07/2010 15:09

Do these look like the right DVD GT and AliB?

They have those boot camps where we are I think. Do they wear coloured bibs according to how fit they are? Run by 'army' types? GT you are so brave even considering it!!!

bebejones · 08/07/2010 15:35

Trimmer & Piste - my DH is the same re marmite, can't stand it! Me on the other hand could eat it all day on hot buttered toast YUM!

Glad I'm not alone on the Brie & Grapes front, Piste you dn't know what you're missing! Could quite happily tuck into a slab of stilton right about now too, mmmm stilton & digestives!

It is beyond me why anyone would take steroids by choice, they make you feel like utter crap! (Well they do for me anyway) Good job they actually do help coz otherwise I'd not bother taking them!

Have stopped sulking now! It's only 2 more doses! Had some h/m soup & a roll for lunch & doing a spicy herb crusted chicken thing for dinner with a warm roasted potato salad & veggies. Do have some Baileys Haagan Daas for afters tho, was feeling sorry for myself after my smear test earlier! Plus I get so hot in the evenings I need ice cream.

So impressed with you girls doing the shred...think it'd kill me! Although any exercise at the moment is out which is rubbish. Never thought I'd actually miss exercising!

GettinTrimmer · 08/07/2010 16:02

piste yes, the exact same one I've got is the first one on the list. You will need a set of dumbbells. Be warned though, you will find it tough at first, but it works. I am doing level 2 tomorrow, lost track of the days but it's taken me longer than 30 days!

I have voiles, and close the door so I can't be seen from the window in the hallway.

Ooooh...buttery marmite on toast...

bebe yes, stilton and digestives

And Bailey's ice cream. A little of what you fancy does you good! Take care, not long now of those grotty steriods.

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/07/2010 16:56

Glad to hear you have stopped sulking Bebe

Bleeeuuugggghhhhhh - Baileys!
Bleeeuuugggghhhhhh - Stilton!

Isn't it funny how different people like different things?!
Isn't it weird how some people like brie and grapes!!

Dumbbells. Righht. Can I use a can of beans in each
hand?!

GettinTrimmer · 08/07/2010 17:27

You can use can of beans, what do they weigh? To start off with I am sure they're OK. But can buy a set of Davina's dumbbells from Argos for £14.99, that's what I did. Or probably cheaper on Amazon.

What weights do you use Ali?

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/07/2010 17:57

Plan diet is rather on hold today - DH has a new job and all the confirmation paperwork has come through today! So there is a bottle of very nice champagne in the fridge and dinner is as yet undecided. Sausages I think but not sure what with. There may be pudding.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/07/2010 18:02

I used cans of beans for the first few days while I was waiting (bad pun sorry!) for my weights to arrive. I've got Reebok handweights from Amazon - it was £7-8 for a pair of 1kg weights, but they are sold seperately, not as a pair which I thought was a bit odd.
In some ways it's easier with the weights although they are slightly more than twice as heavy, because you can hold them properly rather than your hand having to grip round a tin. I have tiny hands though so it may not be a problem for others!

Marmite - yum
Brie and grapes - yum
Stilton - bleeeeeuuggghhh

bebejones · 08/07/2010 18:08

For the record I think Baileys as a drink is vile! But in Haagan Daas it is divine! Yum!

I have a set of weights from Argos that I used to use when I did Davina (must find the DVD, DD has put it somewhere ) They are quite good & not massively expensive, plus come in a case so I can hide them away! I always found it a bit weird doing it with beans & feeling them slosh around as I was moving my arms!

AliB - congrats to your DH! Enjoy your dinner & fizz!

Blondes would be jealous of your sausages...or rather her DH would! Hope she is having a nice time on holiday! Hope everyone on holiday is having a nice time

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/07/2010 19:02

Thanks bebe I agree re. the Baileys - drank far too much of it as a student and haven't been able to look at the stuff for at least 10 years now!

I am jealous of people on holiday, I shouldn't be because we had a lovely skiing holiday in March, but I want to go away again!! We are planning a long weekend away for our anniversary in late October but that seems a long way off.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/07/2010 19:32

Oooh AliB - where did you ski? We love skiing in our family, well not DH but the rest of us do, as you may be able to tell by my NN!

Murtette · 08/07/2010 19:33

Well I like brie & grapes, stilton, marmite, Haagen Daas to drink & in ice cream...is there anything that has been mentioned that I've missed?! I think the only thing I don't like is liver.

PBM - do speak to your sister or a close friend. You do need support at the moment.

Bebe - it sounds positive that the GP has only put you on steroids for 3 more days. How are your legs feeling?

Ali - I'm envious of you losing weight quickly whilst bf. I'm still bf (alth DD now weaning obv) and am battling to lose the weight.

I went shopping today and got some new bras. Now that I'm only doing one day time feed, I thought I'd go back to normal bras. It feels so good! I used to be a 34C and am now a 36DD but its better than a 38DD which is what I was. All the 16 bottoms I tried on fitted comfortable as did the 14 tops but I didn't buy much as I didn't see much I liked.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/07/2010 20:34

I actually like lambs liver!

bebejones · 08/07/2010 21:07

I like liver...but can't cook it coz handling it raw makes me want to heave!!

Murtette - well done on the bottoms! I'm finding there isn't alot of stuff out there I lke at the moment either! Maybe I'm too fussy! Legs are ok, bit wobbly but I can still walk & drive so not too bad!

Murtette · 08/07/2010 23:16

I spotted the grapes in the fruit bowl just now and suddenly remembered there was brie in the fridge so ended up having some brie & grapes on crackers despite having had a bowl of chilli for supper. Grrr!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/07/2010 07:07

What is it with you lot and brie and grapes ?!

Now had it been twiglets, that would have been different!

bebejones · 09/07/2010 08:17

Better start to the day here today! Had a half glass of OJ & a bowl of SpecialK with skimmed! Got soup for lunch (not ideal in the heat but hey ho) but we are having a chinese for dinner....so any lf/filling suggestions greatly recieved! Anything to keep me away from the crispy duck & prawn toasts!

Piste - my DD would be with you on the twiglets...never seen a small child devour them like she does!

Murtette - sorry I lured you to the dark side with the Brie!

2 more doses of the steroids to go....definately feeling some benefit...just hope it lasts!

GettinTrimmer · 09/07/2010 14:05

Hello ladies

I have an interview next week for a school Librarian!! I am so pleased to be offered the interview, it's the first one I would have attended in years .

piste When you're on next, I would love some advice. I am to read a book/text of my choice to 8 mixed ability year 2 pupils for 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes to discuss the book. Can you recommend one? I am going to ask at the dc's school if I can practice on a group before the interview. Then I've got a panel of x3 to interview me including the Head. This will help with nerves as I love books and know I can engage them, but need the right one. Thanks!

Ali Congrats on your dh getting the job. Did you enjoy the bubbly?

bebe/Murtette Brie and grapes sound yummy to me, but so does Stilton/Cheddar whatever with grapes as well!

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/07/2010 16:53

GT - congrats on the interview..
The first story that springs to mind is Flat Stanley. You are reading to summer term Year 2 , so they will mostly be 7. Obviously you can only read a section, but this suits boys and girls equally, and could promote discussion about what they would do if they were flat, what would be the benefits, what would be the problems. You would need to have some of each up your sleeve to kick start the discussion in case they get stuck

Ten minutes is quite a long read, so make sure you practice thoroughly, doing different voices for the characters ( this is whatever you decide to go with ) You will need to maintain their attention, so see if you have any control over how they are seated.

Now I am going to think of some other suggestions!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/07/2010 16:57

Re Flat Stanley - my fave bit is where he gets flown as a kite!

GettinTrimmer · 09/07/2010 18:07

piste Thanks for the suggestion. I have a set of Flat Stanley books. Have you read Mrs Armitage's Wheels? Someone suggested that one to me.

It's my weigh in day tomorrow, I am not hopeful for a loss again because of the boozy/pizza filled weekend, but maybe there will be 1/2 lb gone with any luck.

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/07/2010 18:24

GT - good luck with the interview!

Bubbly was lovely thanks, I am such a lightweight though because of cutting down for the diet that half a bottle really finished me off and I felt crap this morning!

It is too hot here, haven't eaten much because I don't fancy it. Have got a chicken in the oven for dinner but I might let it go cold and just eat a leg with some salad. Haven't exercised either, it is just toooo warm!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/07/2010 20:12

Yes Mrs Armitage's Wheels is fabulous -isn't that where she says

" What we need Breakspear is something to keep of the rain" etc, etc, etc?!

You could take props, she has a tool kit and an old radio, or a brolly you could put up as you tell it! You'd have to pad it out a bit because it is not going to take you 10 mins to read unless you extend it.

But good discussion could come out of it too. It is so hard to know how to pitch this without knowing the group though, and that is where your challenge lies. It could suit a younger group, you could easily do the above with a group of 3/4 year olds, so you would need to think how to extend the more able 7 year old. Have you read MAonW?

GettinTrimmer · 09/07/2010 20:39

Thanks Piste, no not read MAonW, will look for it in library tomorrow.

It's a mixed ability year 2 group.

I love Flat Stanley, have read that to a yr 2 class once, I remember I blew up the pictures to A3 so they could all see what Stanley was doing!

I'll have to practice funny voices too. can't do accents very well, apart from French, not bad brummie, a bit of cockney too!
