i'm horrified to find I have put on 1 stone 7 lb in the last year.

horrified.

So, back to Weight Watchers I go.

I weigh in at 13 stone 8 (horror) and am taking it one day at a time with 21 pooints a day.

Mushrooms cooked in frylight are my life saver.

Fedup, I agree with everything shinyblackgrape has said. She doesnt sound desperately motivated? has she decided to diet by herself? That said, I have never ever went to a meeting at all but find that some really benefit from the accountability of attending a weigh in - so careful that she doesnt get complacent if she doesnt have to weigh in in front of someone each week. If she joins online would she weigh in with you or something (I get my mother to do this with me every Monday)

Alcrowley, dont go and do what most of us do and write off the whole week now, damage control - stick to points today, tomorrow and sunday and it could make a huge difference, better still - pay back 4 a day? could you do that?. If your "good" now you could avoid gaining a couple of lbs by Monday.

So, todays going good. Am still on my 17 points (bold me).

breakfast
2 slices of toast 2pts

10g butter 0.5pts

2 fried eggs 3pts

fried mushrooms 0pts

both fried in frylight 0pts

1 sinless rasher 0.5pts
breakfast total 6points

Lunch

4 wholegrain rivitas 2pts topped with:

50g smoked salmon 1.5pts

tesco extra light garlic and herb cream cheese (30g): 0.5pts

Lashings of fresh lemon juice: 0pts and

accompanied with huge salad of:
lettuce, tomato, cucumber, scallions, celery (mixed in 1 tablespoon of extra light mayo): 0 pts

lunch total: 4pts

So I've 7 left for the day, totm still and I know Im just going to spend it on chocolate.. will see.

Am thinking something like: 2 slices of bread toasted with one slice of extra light cheese melted on top with mustard for tea (3points) and a bag of crispy m&ms (4points) (cos they last ages)

I know, Im eating too much bread and spending too much on rubbish but from experience this is the only way Ill stick to a diet. I should try be healthier but when I do I usually end up caving in completely. Anyway, the fact Im still paying back 4 a day for my blunder doesnt leave me with much scope for nicer dinners that I would usually have. So, trying to fill on bulky things until Monday.

Hope everyone else is doing great!! damn weekend is hell for diets..

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 02/07/2010 21:33

Hi SGM Yes, I namechanged for the World Cup, will prob change back afterwards. I empathise with you re the drunken neighbours. Don't let them drive you to the biscuit tin like mine did.

BarbieLoves, am quite taken with your breakfast combo of toast and mushrooms with actual butter. I might try that tomorrow. And you started WW when your baby was two days old? You are hardcore. I spent six entire weeks mainlining curries and Green & Black's almond chocolate. Paying for it now though.

AlCrowley, don't despair. What Chinese food did you eat? May as well live vicariously through you I'm sure you'll feel massively better if you can wrestle back control for the rest of the week -- even if weigh-in isn't amazing.

I have Googled for an answer to this but not found one that satisfies me: why is a tall skinny cappucino at Starbucks/Costa/etc apparently 2 points? Seems so harsh when it's basically just skimmed milk plus zero-point espresso. Anyone know if the 2 points is correct, and if so, why on earth?

Squidmission · 02/07/2010 21:45

I lost 2.5lbs at my 1st weigh in on Wed.
I was very pleased as I'd gone out 3 times during the week.
I've been really rubbish at sticking to it since Wed and think I need to have a really low point weekend to make up for it.
Has anyone got any ideas for no point/really low point but filling meals for a day?
Please, no soup. Can't bear it in this weather but I'm really enjoying salads.

BarbieLovesKen · 02/07/2010 23:20

Squidmission - one favorite of mine is to get salad potatos (actually "normal" ones will do too), cut them in to quarters, spray them in frylight and throw them under the grill (with skins on) really gorgeous - very like yummy chips but nicer. Very filling too - 100g is 1 point, but remember to weigh them before they are cooked.

Depends on the mood what Ill have with them, or how many points I want to spend.

If Im really hungry and I want a high point dinner (which to me is about 9points), Ill have about 2points of those "chips", a brown bread roll (aldi -2points) with a large steak on top (aldi - 4points) with tomoto ketchup (0.5points)and extra light mayo (0 points) and loads of fried mushrooms and onions.

dinner total: 8.5pts (really filling)

OR

A fillet of white cod (2points) with loads of dijon mustard spread on top (0points) and grilled and a huge salad: mostly free stuff like tomatos, lettuce etc.. but I love adding grated carrott mixed with a tablespoon of extra light mayo and I love chopping an apple up (0.5) and mixing with celery (which funnily enough I hate on its own) apple really compliments fish.

dinner total: 2.5 points (once again, you could add "chips")

OR

Salmon fillet (4.5points ish) topped with extra light phildelphia creamed cheese (0.5)and half a slice of bread grated into breadcrumbs (0.5) and drenched in fresh lemon juice plus a big salad.

dinner total: 5.5 points

OR

Baked potato (very large one 2.5 points but this does depend on size), topped with half a tin of healthy living (tesco) beans 2.5 and garden salad.

dinner total: 5points

OR

Omlette - 2 eggs (3points), little milk (0.5), 10g butter (0.5). When the omlette is almost cooked in the pan make kind of a tower on top of it by piling fried onions and mushrooms, 2 sinless rashers (1point) cut into tiny "strips" and a broken up slice of (tesco) healthy living cheese (1pt), allow cheese to melt.

So, so, so filling.

Dinner total: 6points

DH makes a gorgeous chicken tikki masala for me, he points it for me, usually 6 points - Ill ask him whats in it. But roughly, half a chicken breast (1.5), peppers, onions etc.., 3 points of those chips... sauce must be 1.5 so.. will ask him what it is..

BarbieLovesKen · 02/07/2010 23:21

Jesus, I really do go on and on...

sorry

BarbieLovesKen · 02/07/2010 23:22

and I've just realised that you asked for no point/ low point dinners and ive just rambled on with rather normal pointish ones...

Squidmission · 02/07/2010 23:35

Thanks so much for those,
They sound really yum and I'll definitely be trying them from next week,

Tomorrow I think I'll mainly try utilising butternut squash, mushrooms, salad and soft fruits but not sure how....

amimagic · 03/07/2010 00:24

BarbieLovesKen, some fab meal ideas there, thanks very much. I wish I liked mushrooms, they seem like a bit of a staple food for dieters! Am having a crap few days, really lost the plot after being so good for so long

It's funny how, when you're in the zone, you (well I Do) always think that this is it. This is the time that I'm really going to crack it for good, because sticking to it seems so easy. But its so easy to fall out of the bloody zone.

Back in it tomorrow, and I'm going to do the points pay-back thing.

BarbieLovesKen · 03/07/2010 00:54

Well thats a really positive step amimagic - you could have just went "sod it" and messed up the whole week but your limiting the damage now. I understand what you mean though about being in the zone, when I did this last time (2007) I was so discplined - honestly I even lost weight over Christmas!!! that said, I had a huge incentive in that we were getting married.

Try come on here as much as possible, I find weigh loss threads/ sites really motivational and post as much as you can cos its harder to mess up when you are accountable to someone, Im going to keep bitching on at you and asking daily how your doing so you'll find it more difficult to "be bold"...

Could we post our weigh in days so we know whos weighing in with who??

Im on Monday.

BarbieLovesKen · 03/07/2010 00:56

Oh meant to add, didnt have chocolate this evening. DH was meant to bring some home but forgot so had:

25g of full fat, yummy, buttery microwave popcorn (2.5points) and one of those wee jam bake cake thingys (1.5points)

So I've paid back 4 and stuck to my 17 today. Pleased with that!!.

fairymonkey · 03/07/2010 13:58

Hi i am new 2 mumnet I have been with ww for 8 months now and lost 2 stone. I love trying new recipes etc and would like to keep up with you all

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 03/07/2010 14:37

Hi fairymonkey. 2 stone -- that's great. When do you weigh in?

I weigh in on Sunday evenings. Should really have chosen a better day/time than just at the end of the weekend

Diaduitpuisin · 04/07/2010 00:54

Can I join? I joined WW 2 weeks ago. Lost 4lbs so far. My weigh in is Wednesdays too. I'll let you know how I get on.

My favourite snack has to be Tesco Reduced Fat Chocolate and Orange Crispy bars. They're 1.5 points, delicious, a chocolate kick and I find they keep me satisfied for a few hours.

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 04/07/2010 16:17

Just weighed myself and I've lost a total of 6.2 lbs in the past fortnight

The weight tracker (online) recommended I re-take the Points quiz based on today's loss, so I did, but it just gives me the same Points value as before . Not that I'm complaining ...

Meant to say, Beck's Blue is good if you like lager -- half a point per bottle (alcohol free). I developed a taste for it during pregnancy and am finding it useful on hot evenings.

SiriusStar · 04/07/2010 16:44

I signed up online as I don't want to try and find a time to go to a meeting.
The only thing I have found is naivigating the site and finding out how many points things are. Dh is going to sit sown with me tonight and look through it.
If you go to meetings, do they give you a little book to flick through with the points in? How would I get hold of one if they do?
I want to lose a stone and I haven't a clue aout all this. I haven't told any friends I am doing this as whenever I have mentioned not fitting into my clothes, they say "oh you're fine". That's just because I am chossing my clothes carefully. the fact that naked I look pregnant makes me feel rubbish.
i would like to try and come on here and join in with you guys if I can.
Any advice for a first timer?

AlCrowley · 05/07/2010 07:53

Right, sulk over - I swear I was hormonal last week, proper PMT-like and not like me at all!! Apologies to all . No period yet though but then I'm still EBF DD so that's normal I guess.

After my dinner out last week and not managing to do any running at all in the end after spending Saturday curled up on the sofa feeling poorly - I managed to lose 1.4kgs!! That's 3lbs! Very shocked, I was expecting at least to maintain if not gain again.

So I'm feeling revitalised again and ready to lose some more. Got 3.5 weeks till holiday now so not going to make my highly ambitious 60kg/9st6 goal but want to get as close as I can.

My weigh in is Monday and I was 65.3kgs (10st 4lbs) this morning. Thinking I could probably get under 10st before we go...

Loving the recipes. Going to try some and will try to post some of my favourites later.

amimagic · 05/07/2010 12:59

Al, yay well done - I reckon it was definately TOTM whether period arrived or not. You have started weaning so it may be along soon..... Or you could be one of the lucky ones, fingers crossed.

VuVu, brilliant 6.2 lbs is fantastic!

SquidMission, what is the 0 point veg curry????? And what is the kickstart?

Barbie, just realised how much weight you have lost in total! It's very inspiring! Size 10 is a dream for me, I would be very happy with a 12.

Shit, baby is crying, I never get chance to post here properly....

ps weigh in day for me is thursday, hoping for 1 lb this week, even thiough went off the rails to start the week

amimagic · 05/07/2010 13:03

Fanjos for tea

shinyblackgrape · 05/07/2010 13:19

Hi all - I am laughing a hollow laugh at re-reading my post on Friday. It all went a bit wrong and I stuffed my face and drank wine all weekend. Net result is that I seem to have put on 2lbs. Is that possible? I am sure that I didn't eat an extra 7,000 calories in two days?

However, back on the wagon today.

I am also going to try and get to the gym twice this week and yoga once - yuck

shinyblackgrape · 05/07/2010 13:21

Ps - vuvu - very well done on the weight loss!

amimagic · 05/07/2010 19:15

SiriusStar , it is a bit difficult right at the beginning but becomes second nature quite quickly. They do give out a book in the meetings with some points lists, you could probably buy them on eBay. Otherwise, a good way to start would be to plan a typical day, with what you know are fairly low fat foods, and point these up on the online tracker thingy. This will give you a starting point.

If the exact foods are not on the online database, you can use the points calculator to work them out using the calories and saturated fat. Hth
