i'm horrified to find I have put on 1 stone 7 lb in the last year.

horrified.

So, back to Weight Watchers I go.

I weigh in at 13 stone 8 (horror) and am taking it one day at a time with 21 pooints a day.

Mushrooms cooked in frylight are my life saver.

Can I join you all? I went to my first meeting on Monday. 22 points allowed for me. The lady was going to give me 25, five extra for breastfeeding but I only feed once in the morning and I thought five more was a bit excessive, more for people feeding two or three times a day surely?

I have been hungry all week. Not sure how I can keep to it.

First friday night without wine since I was pregnant.
I know I could have wine but my brother is visiting and has booked to go out for a curry on Sunday night and I'd like to have a nice Kingfisher beer or two.

I've got some no sugar jelly in the fridge but its not very inspiring it it?

chipmonkey · 27/08/2010 23:54

cereal, it sounds to me like you might need the extra points for breastfeeding. I did WW when ds3 was almost a year old, not feeding that much and I had 5 extra points. I lost 7 pounds the first week! At least try the 25 points for now and if you don't start losing in the next week, then reduce it.

ValiumSingleton · 29/08/2010 09:28

I only started 2 weeks ago myself. Welcome cerealqueen. I'd say use your initiative with the points & breastfeeding. Try your best to stay under 22 and see how that goes, if you feel like you're about to turn to ashes, have a banana or a glass of skimmed milk, which have points but aren't going to contribute to a weight problem!

I'm only on 18 points and although I'm managing it, it's easier some days than others. Breastfeeding made me crave milk. I was having so many lattes and not really realising that that could make you 'fat'.

Measure out 140 mls of wine and top it up with 40 mls of water. You won't notice the difference and that way the glass will be decently full. Any more water and it does start tasting horrible!

chipmonkey · 29/08/2010 09:34

Actaully cereal, at one stage when ds3 was feeding very little, I cut it down to 3 extra points and still lost weight.

Now, this week! My clothes are looser, dh tells me I looks slimmer but I have lost no weight! Hate that.

ValiumSingleton · 29/08/2010 09:47

measure yourself Chipmonkey! This is my second week, and you know the first week I lost 6lbs and was delighted. Weighed myself yesterday and hadn't lost a gram, but I measured around my waist and have lost half and inch!! So I don't feel too demoralised now.

this always happens to me when I try to lose a bit of weight thoguh. First week great. Then four weeks of hard slog with no results, then suddenly, fifth or sixth week, lose another 6lbs!. SO I have to stick at it.........

chipmonkey · 29/08/2010 10:52

Trouble is, I always lose any measuring tapes I buy! [hopeless case]

Fantastic news SGM!! That is a brilliant result. I have put on 1 lb this week Blush although I deserve it as we had a very sociable bank holiday weekend and I still find it hard to be good as I love drinking wine (by far my worst weakness).
Any way onwards and upwards.

SeriousWispaHabit · 02/09/2010 15:32

Hi, can I join in please? I am a long time lurker, don't usually post but now trying to be brave.

Have been doing online WW for 3 weeks, lost 8lbs so far but quite a way to go as would like to lose around 3 stone. Am breastfeeding 9 week old DD2 and DD1 has morning and evening feed still. Am on 33 points and feels like loads but I obviously need it as still losing. I'm struggling with not eating cake/cheesecake/family sized Dairy milks every evening during DD2s mammoth cluster feeding session but have replaced with punnets of cherries, mini milks (1/2 point each!) and worcester sauce french fries.

Am weighing on Fridays so will hopefully be able to report a loss tomorrow, but will be happy with staying the same after a very sociable weekend at parents house and 3 meals out in 1 week.

bluebump · 02/09/2010 15:35

I lost 3lb this week again so that's 7lb in 3 weeks which is good but it still seems a long way to go (ideally I want to lose 2 stone, although 3 would be better). My trousers feel looser today which is good but I'm another one who never measured myself at the start.

Diaduitpuisin · 02/09/2010 17:58

Stayed the same at my last weigh in. :(

Ah well, onwards and downwards.

cerealqueen · 02/09/2010 22:19

Thanks for the advice on the points, I don't feel as hungry this week and have upped the points!

We too had a very sociable weekend with a curry and pizza Blush and wine. I love the wine tip Valium!

I used a sainsbury's be good to yourself thai cuppa soup as the base for a thai stye noodle thingy with loads of veg and turkey strips and it was lovely.

A friend has told me that squid has very low points but don't know where I can get squid from.

I don't know if I've lost any weight as my weigh in would have been Monday and DP works late other evenings so will have to wait until next week.

I think measuring is good too, as you can develop muscle if you are exercising more and that weighs more than fat ( that does not make sense but you know what I mean) so you can weight the same but have lost fat.

SeriousWispaHabit · 04/09/2010 15:52

Weigh in yesterday and 1.5 lbs lost making 9.5 in total. Now just need to lose another 2 or 3 stone before going on holiday in 2 weeks time. Not sure why I thought a pool/villa holiday would be a good idea 3 months post baby - I am struggling to find a swimsuit up to the job of containing massive BF boobs and post pregnancy figure.

cerealqueen - they sometimes have squid in Waitrose at the fresh fish counter. Most fish is low in points though - is it that much lower?

Pollyanna · 04/09/2010 17:31

Hello all, can I join? i am doing ww online as there are no meetings I can get to in my area. I have lost 4lb in the first week which I was pleased about.

Really like this plan as it seems to make sense healthwise as well as losing weight (have been on a few diets in the last few months).

SGM what is the kickstart programme?

I have about a stone to lose - but if I lost half a stone I would still be the lightest I have been for years so would happy. Not particularly light then though.

ValiumSingleton · 04/09/2010 20:43

I only ate 11 points today Confused so then I had icecream to bump it up a bit..

Coffee, All bran and a banana for breakfast, lunch - salad with 10 hazelnuts, 10 olives, 1/4 small tin kidney beans, 2 points worth of brown pasta. Then for dinner, A medium sized potato with a vegetable concoction and I only used a few sprays of oil to get the onion going. I added it up and it was only 11 points. Can't believe it, as I don't feel hungry.

I haven't lost a gram in two weeks (although my waist has got thinner). So, I didn't want to be so far under my points though.

But now I feel BAD for having icecream. I hope it doesn't mess with my head.

I know I have been really good about calculating points. So I can't understand.

I lost 6lbs first week, since then nothing.

ValiumSingleton · 04/09/2010 20:45

ps, not giving up though. I think I remember this happening before. 4 weeks of nothing happening, then suddenly losing another few pounds.

I actually feel a bit disgusted with my self for having had 100grms of icecream.

Pollyanna · 04/09/2010 21:12

does the daily points limit get adjusted downwards as you lose weight? if so, I'm wondering whether this will happen automatically online.

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 07:45

Oh right............ that could be it, thanks pollyanna, I'll have to check that out. I'm not actually going to the meetings. I'm doing it on my own. I'm being really good though. My will power not a problem right now. However, it's weird that I've been finding it easy...

Pollyanna · 05/09/2010 08:06

I think Valium, that you have to eat enough to lose weight - if you don't eat enough your weight loss slows as your body holds onto its reserves. What is your points limit? Mine is 19.

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 08:10

Thanks PA, Mine was 18 as I am 40 and under 160cm and was under 10 stone starting.

for the first few days it seemed like torture, as I was so used to eating bread whenever I was hungry. But now, so long as I'm not eating out or at somebody's house or in a cafe, it has been........... easy to stick to the 18. That can't be right can it!?

Pollyanna · 05/09/2010 09:01

I find it hard to stick to the 19 at the moment - but have only been doing it for a week! I think if you are still losing weight then that is good, but if not, maybe you either need to up your exercise or reduce your points? (but I think that if you are only eating 11 points worth a day, that is not enough). Hopefully someone who goes to meetings etc can give you more information on this - I am just going by what I have read on the website.

i have a bit of a cappuccino and snacking habit that can't be accomodated in my 19 points unfortunately.

Also I used to eat quite healthily (I thought) but had bigger portions of fish/chicken and more eggs which are quite alot of points I have found. Much easier to have a portion of pasta/rice.

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 11:40

That was an exceptional day! normally it's more like 16 at the end of the day and I have a little glass of wine! so I wouldn't say I have been massively under point not often.

Yeah, MILKY coffees have godda go sweedee. Grin

I used to have loads of coffee and tea. Have got it down to two coffees and one tea now.

Half a can of kidney beans in a salad is quite filling and only 1 point. I sometimes put small can of tuna, K beans, 10 olives (half a point) and some low cal dressing and it does fill you.

I don't have the energy for washing and chopping every day though. Porridge made with soya milk is only 2 points.

3ismylot · 06/09/2010 12:01

Hi all just thought I would pop in and join you all, have just started week 2 of weightwatchers today and am loving it so far Smile
I lost 3.5lbs this week which I am over the moon with as I started WW after 9 weeks of doing cambridge (lost 35lbs) and was fully expecting to gain this week.

I dont go to classes as they are at awkward times for me so any hints and tips greatfully recieved Wink
I got the books off ebay so I have most of the info but its always good to hear about low point treats lol

ValiumSingleton · 06/09/2010 18:09

That's a good idea to look on ebay for the WW books. I'm not going to classes either.

What low point treats are suggested in the books you have?
