hi shortnsweet.

oh well done :-)

i wish i could report the same success :-( i've put on a lb. am a bit gutted, so no more potatoes for me! oh or takeaway curries and wine (last night!!!!). so my own fault for slacking.

i will do some more pool excercise today, and eat properly. the last 2lbs are proving quite elusive. god knows how i'm gonna shift the next stone on the next 8 weeks.

on the plus side, i've reduced my wii fit age from 48 to 31, which is nice cos i'm 40!

thats a great start Riven. she also mentions not using processed oils, so cook with olive oil or butter.

Hi I'm hoping to start this tomorrow and swell the ranks with tales of success!

Have looked at the video and the idea seems to make sense, but am unclear as to how to actually eat each day.

On a typical day atm, I usually have muesli for b/f with added chopped nuts and a few Brazil nuts; lunch is usually a sandwich with a decent amount of protein (I assume I'd just substitute spelt bread here), and dinner is usually something pretty balanced and healthy - last night Morrocan lamb with couscous.

Since trying SW I've got into a habit of a couple of bics with my morning coffee (had weaned myself off sugar years ago but somehow couldn't cope with being 'on a diet' without the occasional sweet snack). Likewise after dinner I usually have a choc-ice or similar .

Besides from the bad sweet things which I'll obviously have to stop, does this sound likely to succeed?

sounds good wwwy. Welcome back :-)
I'm not sure about couscous though as its made with wheat. But that might just be me, as i've given up everything with wheat in for digestive discomfort reasons. I still managed to shed some pounds in the beginning by eating homemade baker and biscuits, though i'm not so bothered now.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 28/06/2010 07:50

Thanks. Yes, I'd forgotten couscous is wheat - can't remember if buckwheat is or not?
Anyway, my spelt loaf and rolls are in the oven right now .

thrifty · 28/06/2010 08:18

cakes not baker

thrifty · 28/06/2010 08:24

ooo let me know how your bread turns out. I've not had much success with bread :-) not sure about buckwheat either, maybe someone else will know :-)

Bread v. successful! I used the Three Minute Spelt Bread recipe from the Telegraph (will link later when I'm on the pc), but I kneaded it for 5 mins which isn't in the recipe.

Then shaped into rolls, covered with the oiled clingfilm and left in the fridge overnight to prove.

Tip for rolls: put them quite close together in the tin so that they stick together as one lump and you don't get a hard crust around each roll.

Just had two warm buttered rolls and a mushroom omelette (yum).

I'm going to freeze the rest and warm as needed as spelt bread dries out v. quickly.

Off to the gym this am.

thrifty · 29/06/2010 07:32

congratulations on your bread success :-) i think i've seen the recipe on the web. I shall try it on the weekend. Good tip for the rolls, It'd be handy to have rolls in the freezer. I'm thoroughly fed up with having to cart a cool bag around with me when i go out for the day to carry salad in :-) especially when everyone else is tucking into sandwiches.

shortandsweet2 · 29/06/2010 08:27

Morning,

I fell off the wagon this weekend and had pizza and wine. Back on it now.

It doesn't mention if we are allowed dairy, does anyone know??

I am just making some bread again today for my carb fix.

Hope you all have a good day

WhatsWrongWithYou · 29/06/2010 09:39

Three minute spelt bread.
Actually, I remember now I didn't have any seeds so just did the recipe from the flour packet but will make this one today if I can get more flour.
Scrambled eggs w. warm bread this am - made popcorn last night - is that okay?
(I weighed myself this morning and have put on 2lbs since Sunday! Hoping it's a pre-menstrual blip).

I dig this sort of eating mostly anyway but with a wedding coming up...

I'd appreciate being emailed about anything for sure...

Yes they disintegrate if you try and use them as wraps!
Dunno re diet rightness though
well today I've had
bacon and scrambled egg
I used to use graze.com to deliver whole food snacks ( had discount code as ££££) but once you realise what's in them easy to use their boxes and make your own
today mine has cherries, mixed nuts and spiced rice crackers. Plus a nectarine.
Have got arse into gear and making saffron lamb kebabs with tabbouleh and green salad for tea. Perhaps a food doctor pita if v hungry
am on a mission now ...
Also sourced those nakd bars very fillling and the kids love em!
