sarahmia · 13/05/2010 14:09

Afternoon Ladies!

I am going to Israel (eilat to be specific!)staying in a GORGEOUS hotel! im so excited!!!

blondes I want your chicken and tomato and roast veg thingy that PBM told me about!

PBM do you have any good recipies for Qquorn mince cos its the only kind of quorn tthat is kosher

i know i should be eating more but truth is next week is a jewish festival and there will be 2 full days of constant eating, 4 course lunches and suppers, so im sure that i will make up for it then!!!!

mummymels what is go lower?? I have been told this so many times, that if you eat too little points your body holds onto the fat and goes into starvation mode but i have done this so many times and i have lost so much weight, just quicker than if i would be eating more points, nut i know i have to eat more, its not healthy!

bebe fingers crossed for a size 14

kayzr HIII!! im sarah! nice to "meet" you

anyhoo, should prob pop off and do some work

Poohbearsmom · 13/05/2010 15:00

Trimmer it is great ye hav a fully free health care system esp in the recession when money is so tight for so many ppl. Ya my coil cost a small fortune i had to pay €70 for the consultation to discuss it, have a smear and get the prescription, then €90 for it (would have been more if not for the gov drugs scheme thingy) then a shockin €150 to have it put in!! Tre expensive and i only got a year outa it! Could have gotten a years pill for like 30quid but sure could be worse... Sorry for talkin euro's not sure what the pound to euro is at the mo... Best of luck with your course and gettin some part time work i did agency care assistanting years ago was hard in the begining walking in as the newbee every single day but ya get so used to it very quickly...
Sarah i usually just use quorn in place of mince in lasagne/cottage pie/savoury mince anything really... Didnt realise bout the chicken style etc not being kosher can i ask why? I thought if something was suitable for vegetarians it was kosher no??
Had scrummy wrap with garlic and herb philly and crammed full salad and i had a big bowl of tomato and hidden vegi soup for lunch twas lovely have quorn chicken pieces and a big veg stir fry for the eve and an activia for a treat after yum

sarahmia · 13/05/2010 16:05

that sounds yum PBM...
kosher is very complicated if you are strictly kosher... its not always the case that if its veggie ok then its kosher ok.

not even so sure myself.. quorn stuff used to be kosher not sure why it isnt anymore.. we have books of stuff thats kosher and it got taken off the list a few years ago.

where do you live that you dont have free health care system?

bebejones · 13/05/2010 16:23

Afternoon all!

I have bought 2 pairs of size 14 jeans!! (2 for £25 in dp, figured cheap ones would be best as don't intend to be in them for long) Also got a couple of size 16 tops, which is fab for me as have ridiculous boobs and have always had to buy bigger tops to accomodate them! Went with my grandma so actually got to try stuff on while she looked after DD. Jeans are a little tight but did do up no problems. So excited...next stop size 12!

Will try and catch up with everyone else better later, busy being nurse/chef/driver/cleaner/childminder etc not my idea of fun!!

Did manage a trip to butterfly farm with DD this afternoon, but so knackered now!

Catch up later!

OP posts:
sarahmia · 13/05/2010 17:14

yaay!! v jealous! but in a nice way

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/05/2010 18:02

TRIMMER my book is at home but will do points later when home and looking forward to my 1st shower in 2 years

PMB how awful to pay for doctors etc, we moan about nhs but tbh bloody lucky to have it

SARAH holiday sounds lovely, ALL need som epamering, my chicken and roast veg is very simple

chop bns and carrots up and roast for 30mins

add chopped pepper/onion/cougette/ and tin of chopped toms and breast of chicken and cook again for 30mins roughly and then meal for 2.5p (only points is chicken) YUMMY!!!

and make sure you eat enough points or what you are doing isnt healthy and that is what ww is about healthy eating

qorn is mushroom so how can it not be kosher?

BEBE fab you got into 14 jeans - well done - tbh when i lost the weight before i brough smaller sizes from chairty shops till i got to my ideal size, can cost £4per pair and obv i wash them and though helps charity me and theirs

MUMMYMELS how is go lower going?

JODIE hows detox, isnt the big day this weekend?

im hoping for a loss tomorrow have been good and really want to lose a lb, after last week i will be VERY pissed off if i dont lose

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/05/2010 19:07

PBM My bro lives in Tokyo, and your health system is v similar to the Japanese, they have to pay part and stuff. It does make you appreciate our system. One of his sons had to have his tonsils out last December and that was a lot of money.

Bebe Fabarooni on your skinny jeans, you go girl, I think Blondes has a good idea re charity shop ones. I currently only have 2 pairs of bottoms in my size and currently am wearing a 16 which is too big but has annoyed me all day by sliding down, but the others were grotty.

GT Size 12 your are indeed a slinky malinky.

Dh has gone to watch the space shuttle launch in Florida, he is a geek above all geeks, he has so many air miles from all his trips and applied for a special viewing point ticket and amazingly got one so he really had to seize the opportunity. Fingers crossed please everyone that it takes off ( I think it goes tomorrow) but there are only 3 more launches of the space shuttle before it retires. There was something just now on Newsround about it so DC were excited.

Hello to everyone Have a great weekend, good luck for the weigh-ins

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/05/2010 19:38

2 brazils = 1point

GettinTrimmer · 13/05/2010 20:18

blondes thanks, not as bad as I'd thought for Brazil nuts.

I have been searching frantically for dd's bear for the past hour, was just about to go up the road to look for it, but she turned up (bear's a girl) tucked down the side of ds's bed So relieved!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/05/2010 21:01

Bears are often girls I love them

2 nuts seems a waste of points to me nut whatver floats your boat!!

Dh was talking about his sausage suprise earlier. It may be made tomorrow

bebejones · 13/05/2010 21:19

Evening all!

Sarahmia - very confusing & annoying about the Quorn not being Kosher. I always find I have to add alot of spices & flavourings with the mice as I don't like the after taste. Maybe that's just me?! Very of your holiday, sounds fab!

Blondes - good luck for weigh in! Good tip bout the charity shop, hadn't considered that, although the ones back home are a bit as it's a very elderly populated area.

Trimmer - glad DD's bear turned up. Nothing worse than losing your teddy bear!! I left mine in a B&B in Scotland when I was about 7 & my mum had to get them to post him home to me as I was so distraught! Hoping I will be joining you with the size 12's soon!

PBM - shocking that the coil cost so much! True what everyone says how we grumble about the NHS & yet we should be so grateful really. My drugs cost well over £10,000 a year!! No wonder they have such a strict criteria on who qualifies for treatment. No way I'd ever be able to afford them if I had to pay.

Have eaten so much today, although nothing especially bad. Did have most of a packet of squares crisps but they aren't too bad. Did have a teeny piece of m&s berry cheesecake this evening, was my Grandma's Birthday 'cake' so would have been rude not to have any! Hardly sat still all day so deserve the calories

Hoping I get a more relaxing day 2moro, although somehow I doubt it. DD appears to have come down with yet another cold so just hoping I actually get some sleep! Mum seems ok after her op but is whinging about everything & being horrid to my Grandma which I really hate when she does that! Finding it all very stressful & just want to go home really!

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 13/05/2010 21:40

you eat mice

squares 1.5p - i love sucking them

just eaten 2p worth of twiglets

8g= 1/2p

mummymels · 13/05/2010 22:24

Blondes ? How was the leaving do? What did you manage to find to eat in the end. Going fine thanks. Back on track now.

PBM ? You are not being thick. I never knew anything about being in ketosis before I started looking into low carb diets. You can buy tests, I think they are a bit like pregnancy tests to check when you are in ketosis but to be honest I haven?t bothered with them so not entirely sure. You get into ketosis by cutting down your carb intake. For me the main symptom I have is the headaches and once they start to settle I know I am in ketosis but I think that may be because I am prone to headaches anyway. I also don?t feel so hungry once I am in ketosis. Other symptoms that people get are bad breathe, nausea, metallic taste (I get this a bit but not majorly), mood swings, feeling low (I get this a bit too), feeling lethargic (definitely get this).

Trimmer ? Good luck with the job hunting. Hopefully something will turn up for you soon. No they didn?t remove my mum?s knee cap. They put pins in. That?s great that your brother is back in action. How long was the recovery for him? I had the same this evening looking for DS?s Mickey Mouse but it turned up in the airing cupboard!

Sarah ? Lucky you going to Eilat. I am sure you will have a brilliant time. I haven?t been to Israel for years and never to Eilat but would love to take the kids there one day. Which hotel are you staying in? I must admit I didn?t realise quorn isn?t kosher. I think the Tesco?s veggie stuff is kosher and is the same thing as quorn. If you look at the packs a lot of the Tesco?s veggie stuff is made by Tivall. Go Lower is a low carb diet and they send you their own ready meals. I?m obviously not as kosher as you. I heard recently that marmite has been taken off the kosher list which surprises me.

Bebe ? That?s great news. It?s so much more fun shopping for smaller sizes isn?t it. I love it. And great too that your grandma was there to mind DD. Even better. I hope you have a good night with DD and that she isn?t suffering too much.

Piste ? I have to admit I don?t know anything about a shuttle launch in Florida.

Can you believe the timing of things. I am supposed to be going to the NCT conference tomorrow until Sunday. I never go away and leave my children overnight so this is a rarity for me but DD has had a temperature of 103 for 2 days now and I am not sure I want to go away and leave her if she is still poorly in the morning.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/05/2010 22:59

Awwwwww mummymels. Sorry to heat dd ill and has high temp. Neurophen and hopefully will be down tomorrow

what do you typically eat/drink?

I tried to be good at leaving do. Had red onion tart with small scattering of cheese with salad. I also didn't have pudding so really hope for a lb Loss tomorrow

good luck job hunting

sarahmia · 14/05/2010 09:41

morning Ladies!

you are ALL right... so yesterday i had a really healthy yummy supper... Think also I was hungry cos it was first few days of real proper dieting cos been yoyoing untill now.
Anyhoo... will weigh myself on monday... hopefully that should try and keep me on the straight and narrow over the weekend!

blondesIm not actually sure why it isnt kosher... sometimes just even the colouring could not be kosher, or any E numbers that is in it. really nice idea about chairty shops! and YAAAAYYYY on your weight loss!! well done!!!

bebe shopping is actually enjoyable when your skinnier!! so much fun!

mels sometimes when factories dont allow us to come in and check how they make the prodct they have to take it off the list and marmite is still kosher in kosher shops!! yaaay! they bring it in from south africa.
Go lower sounds amazing!!! I think i should start a kosher brand of it. Ive never actually been to eilat either, always go to jerusalem but we are going all out and staying in the royal beach which is supposed to be top notch...
super excited!

Poohbearsmom · 14/05/2010 11:20

Well done on loss Blondes 2lbs is super your onion tart sounds scrummy mmm
Sarah im a Paddy i hadnt realised kosher was that strict with colours and E's etc but its fab ye have so many books to help. We'r muslim so eat only Hallal but as long as something is vegi its fine for us but i still have to search through ingredients for gelatine etc in yogurts, sweets etc i used to LOVE kimberly biscuits esp da ones covered in choc wit da marshmellow in the middle but all out cause of the gelatine
piste my sister used to live in japan too she found it very exp but the standard of everything was so high it was worth it iyswim it wouldnt be so bad havin to pay for stuff if our waiting lists werent so stupidly long and the standard of care/facilities were higher but as ye know even i was given M.R.S.A and i wasnt even an in patient just getting dressings done... Did i tell ye that after they gave me da m.r.s.a and i had to go to the health centre instead of the hosp (so stupid like bring the infection they gave me out to the community) but i was expected to buy all the dressings, dressing packs, disinfectents etc each dressing costs €5 and i was getting a new dressing daily for 7wks! Plus the other costs... I almost had a heart attack but the public health nurse was very kind to me and used her own supplys from the health centre so i didnt end up havin to buy too much stuff myself, but still tis crap to have to pay for anything cause the take a shed load of tax off us for what like?! Rant over dh's trip sounds fantastic my brother is a total geek too and would give anything for a trip like that!
Bebe so fab on your new clothes sorry your mum is being tough your doing a lovely thing taking care of her
Mels i hope dd is ok?

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/05/2010 12:38

BEBE sorry mum is making you ,you are lucky to have a grandma, all my gp's died 10+ years ago

being kosher must be hard as in having to check all ingredients etc

all of you def check out charity shops for smaller/inbetween clothes, average pair costs £4/5 compared to those in shops which can be £10/30 - well actually i did have a pair that was £50ish and left them on my bed and then let hamy on bed and the ickle creature snuggled up in them and went to sleep - or so i thought

the pesky rodent actually nibbled through my jeans and had 3 holes in bum/inner thigh and knee so had to chuck them, why the little fucker didnt eat my £3work ones from asda i will never know which were also on the bed!!!

anyway no point spenidn money on new jeans that you are going to grow out of in a month or 2

im soooooooooooooooo happy with my loss, was getting a bit disalusioned by lack of loss recently, esp as i had been good

so yah!!!

going to have ommlette and salad for lunch and be very good all day as out in london tomorrow for friends birthday, there will be macdonalds lunch {dribbling at the thought of it} and then tgi for dinner plus wine

sarahmia · 14/05/2010 13:50

yeah its hard, but ive been brought up with it so im used to it and only buying kosher food is just the start of it!! so much more complicated stuff than that too..
LOL about the rodent eating through your jeans... expensive taste ;)
didnt bring enough food with me today (naughty!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/05/2010 14:43

I have just found out that my friends boyfriend died last week

She is someone i see every few months and i had no idea

was on the front of my local paper and saw the photo and headlines and thought omg

He was killed on a motorbike accident and leaving my friend who is 30weeks pregnant with his baby

I am in shock

I rang her today and spoke to her and told her how sorry i was - but tbh sorry is meaningless when you have lost the love of your life and father of your unborn child

he was a part time fireman and doesnt want flowers but to donate to the fireman charity

sarahmia · 14/05/2010 15:01

OMG.... blondes that is horrible... I cannot imagine how she is feeling, that is awful. put life in perspective.

GettinTrimmer · 14/05/2010 16:11

Afternoon all

blondes I am so sorry IKYWM about words being meaningless. Your friend would have appreciated you contacting her and knows you are there for her.

Pleased for you about the 2lb loss.

PBM I don't blame you for having a rant, you've had awful stuff to put up with.

How are you in yourself?

We will face cuts to public services over the coming years, but not talk of the NHS introducing charges - yet.

sarah Is felafel a Jewish dish? I love those!

mummymels My bro had his accident at only 19 (now in his 50s) he made a full recovery and no problems without a kneecap. I seem to remember it took him a few months to recover.

piste I can get these jeans on but wobbly bits over the top look daft. They are a pair for the summer! Hope dh is having a good time.

bebe hope next couple of days are not too bad and you're home soon. My Grandma is....108 years old! She doesn't know what's going on, bless her, just keeps going and going...she's amazing.

I have at least found a suitable job on the Local Government website to apply for, it's in a library 22 hours per week. I hope to get an interview.

laughalot · 14/05/2010 17:49

Hi to everyone, sorry iv been awol but I have been so busy what with dd ect. Well she seems all ok now after my nightmare at school with her. I went to gp the next day and it seems she has slight hayfever mixed in with the cold she had wasnt a good combo, however she is alot better now so thanks for all your kind words.

I was away overnight last night at bulins in skegness on a works conference that was a experience . I ate and drank alot plus its my af this week so all I want to do is eat and eat. Dont think my weigh in will be good in the morning but hay ho I will try super hard next week as its five weeks today until our holiday.

Ok so enough about me lets get catching up.

Blondes im so very sorry to hear about your friends dh that is very sad news. I hope you can still enjoy the weekend with your friend and enjoy that yummy food.

Gettingtrimmer good luck on the job front they are very few and far between but you never know if you dont try .

Sarah are you feeling a bit better ? Hmm dont think iv had any jewish dishes but I love my food im not this size for nothing hee hee.

Pooh I love ireland iv been to dublin, cork, bray and them my ultimate irish hol was on my 30th birthday my dh booked the ritz carlton powerscourt hotel in enniskerry wow that was a break to remember we ate in the gordon ramsey resturant it was fab. I love the paddys blimmin expensive though.

Mummymels did you manange to get away ? I must admit my dh text me last night to say my ds was complaining of earache and I then felt a really bad mum for being away but you do need some you time. Hope she is better soon.

Bebe why can mums be soooooo testing at times ? I hope she will be on the mend soon for you. Your poor dd she has suffered lately with illness if its not one thing its another. Maybe the second half of the year will be better for you so roll on june.

Piste I would love to go and watch a launch . That is along way for you to visit your db ! Your family sounds very well travelled.

Jodie are you feeling any better yet ? Soll is meant to be lovely im sure you will look fab and enjoy it.

Right best stop typing, keep going ladies sorry if iv missed anyone x
