Mad as a March hare or dozy like a dormouse?!

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/02/2010 12:28

So the challenge continues.

March has 4.5 weeks. You can aim for 2lbs a week, or the more dozy 1lb a week - either way, that's a good loss for the month.

Any plan/diet is welcome - just sign up here for the solidarity/support/encouragement/kick up the backside (delete as appropriate).

We don't use actual weight (unless you want to), but a points system. If you're joining us/starting from tomorrow, you start on 100 points. Every pound you lose is one point gone.

You can weigh in as often as you like, but just remember to update the list!

Here's the list from February - please add your name and c+p it into the next thread:

I was a bit disappointed forthe first week
Onwards and upwards

motherofluvlies · 08/03/2010 20:53

I will get the hang of this eventually

amazonianwoman · 08/03/2010 20:54

Heeelllllpppppppp!!!!!

Today I have had:

  • porridge
  • about 3 pieces of birthday cake
  • 2 chocolate brioche roll things
  • 3 ginger crunch biscuits
  • bowl of pasta
  • 2 servings of honeycomb ice cream

Hardly the epitome of a low carb diet...

How the hell do I get back on track?? I've lost the plot

Only 3 full days before weigh-in. Drastic measures required. And a big kick up the backside from all you girlies, please.

HinnyPet · 08/03/2010 22:23

I've just realised I haven't had bread, pasta, rice or potatoes for almost 3 months.
I haven't cut out sugar though (I'm not having it in tea and coffee anymore) as I am still eating cake ! There is no effing way I am giving that up as well!!!

Amazonian, have 2 days carb free if you can, that might get you back on track?

amazonianwoman · 08/03/2010 22:59

Yes, you're right. Bacon & eggs, tuna & salad, salmon & broccoli/asparagus tomorrow it is then.

Please be harsher with me though. I need a slapping!

HinnyPet · 09/03/2010 00:34

You can do it!

Hello ladies! I've been away for a bit, having a mixed time of it. Today is weigh-in day and I've put on 2.5lb. Truthfully I think I have got off lightly as the trip was very busy and there was a lot of wine drunk while I caught up with a series of friends. Managed to stay quite good about the diet - there was the odd mouthful of strawberries but no major transgressions, so hopefully I'll get back to where I was fairly quickly.

Meanwhile I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, one symptom of which is weight gain. I've started treatment today, and as it starts to work I should find it easier to lose weight, and, I hope, to conceive. So although it seems that I'll be on these pills for life, it also seems that they might make quite a dramatic difference. Fingers crossed! Also, it's nice to think that my ballooning last year might not have been entirely my fault: I had thought it was a direct consequence of moving to France and living on baguettes, cheese, wine and patisseries, so I now live in hope that one day these might be back on the menu (in moderation!) again. If anyone is suffering the symptoms described here it might be worth getting checked out.

1lb this week (the old list had the wrong 'weight' for me)
Had just got used to nice chunks coming off, so am a bit peeved.

Haven't exercised for three days - feeling stroppy and "what's the point" in a teenage sulk kind of way

So, time to get back into the swing properly. And I've read that cheese is actually quite carby and I've been probably been overdoing it.

Bought a fab new dress (two sizes smaller than I would normally have gone for, and I can get into it, (hurrah), but it doens't look FABULOUS yet. It's DH's bday in June, so I've got a bit of time to get there.

Did anything trigger your blowout, AW? Just put it behind you, and start afresh. It's not a big deal in the long run. [smile}

theQuibbler · 09/03/2010 08:04

Oh, sorry to hear that, thereistheball, but glad that it has been diagnosed and you are being treated.

Are you in France? DH is French, (from the deep in the South, inland from St Tropez), keep trying to get him to go back, but he's not having any of it, 'not yet', apparently . Still the thought of having to deal with my terrifying French MIL on a daily basis is enough to stop me pushing too hard at that particular door

thereistheball · 09/03/2010 08:59

Yes. I'm just outside Paris. I spent some time in Ramatuelle when I was a teenager. Very nice! I imagine all French MILs are formidable, in the English sense. Would you have to go and live next door though?

Congratulations and good luck with the dress! I bet it looks great already. SUCH a nice feeling to drop a dress size - so much more tangible than losing a few pounds somehow.

mejon · 09/03/2010 11:00

OMG! After weeks of staying static or even putting a little bit on and then losing it again - I have somehow managed to lose 5lbs this week. I have caught a milder case of DD's lurgy which laid her out for over a week so I haven't really been eating more than I need to. One more lb and I'll have lost a stone! Hurrah!!!! Plenty more to go though.

Trigger? DH been ill and helpless for almost 2 weeks (over 5 weeks if you count his shoulder injury from paint balling too )

I may as well be a single parent.

I pitied him at first but now he's just being over dramatic and a bit pathetic. His cough is no worse than the one I had when I was 40 wks pregnant with 2nd child - I managed to cope with coughing fits, caesarian, v bad sciatica, bf'ing a baby that cried not stop all day long from day 1, no sleep, 2yr old toddler etc etc etc

There, rant over

Been good today apart from quarter of slice of toast

Well done on all other weightlosses!

amazonianwoman · 09/03/2010 11:40

non stop

mummymels · 09/03/2010 20:46

Amazonianwoman ? hopefully it is out your system now and you will be back on track again tomorrow. I think men just don?t get it.

Thereistheball ? Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Sorry to sound thick but what are the implications of it? I hope you start to feel better from the medication soon.

theQuibbler ? Brilliant on fitting into a dress two sizes smaller.

Mejon ? Brilliant loss.

BessieBoots ? Welcome and good luck.

BessieBoots · 10/03/2010 11:36

I am very aware of the three bars of green and black's that is sitting in the kitchen.

And there are Smarties.

And nice thick white bread.

Must... Be... Strong...

thereistheball · 10/03/2010 21:59

Bessie - Welcome! Are you low carbing? Anyway, have a cup of tea, immediately. That'll sort you out :-) Failing that, cream, from a spoon if necessary (only if you are low-carbing - otherwise or anyway, a large glass of water).

Mummymels - I have no idea what the implications are, but thanks for asking. I think I miss a lot of the nuance when doctors are talking to me in French. What I am hoping is that a/ it's nothing severe and b/ taking these pills will cure all my problems including some ones I didn't know about. Before the diagnosis I could have attributed all the symptoms sensibly to other causes. I think at least I'm in for a psychosomatic uplift now because of the medication, so am hoping that the weight just dissolves and the babies start springing fully formed from my body. Fingers crossed!

thereistheball · 10/03/2010 22:01

PS - Mejon - sorry about the lurgy but well done on the weight loss and good luck with the last 1lb you need to hit the stone mark.

mejon · 11/03/2010 20:44

Thank you thereistheball . Couldn't believe it really after the past few weeks!

HinnyPet · 11/03/2010 20:55

Why can't I resist carrot cake!!! Every frigging time I'm in M&S I have it!! Grr no willpower .....

thereistheball · 11/03/2010 21:16

Because it is delicious.

Esp the icing.

But it is no good for you. (Says she who has just scoffed 6 sugar-free boiled sweets )

HinnyPet · 11/03/2010 21:42

you are so right, my DD ate the sugar 'carrot' so it wasn't so bad...

Thorntons diabetic toffee is bloody gorgeous by the way....in case any low carbers want a treat ...
