Mad as a March hare or dozy like a dormouse?!

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/02/2010 12:28

So the challenge continues.

March has 4.5 weeks. You can aim for 2lbs a week, or the more dozy 1lb a week - either way, that's a good loss for the month.

Any plan/diet is welcome - just sign up here for the solidarity/support/encouragement/kick up the backside (delete as appropriate).

We don't use actual weight (unless you want to), but a points system. If you're joining us/starting from tomorrow, you start on 100 points. Every pound you lose is one point gone.

You can weigh in as often as you like, but just remember to update the list!

Here's the list from February - please add your name and c+p it into the next thread:

Hi there, I'd really like to join in. I have a five month old baby and got a real shock to discover that I have put on heaps of weight in the past three months. Too much time spent munching biscuits while my a baby sleeps in my arms! This month I aim to quit biscuits and get out and about using the sling.

Count me back in. Weighed this morning I'm still the same so nothing lost (but not put on either) for a fortnight (well half a pound I think but I'm not counting that) . Bugger! Slightly demoralised as the first time I LC'd about 6 years ago the weight fell off really quickly. I ate more fish then though and was working - I'm now at home with DD and doing this with DH who only likes fish fingers and tinned tuna so we're mostly eating meat. Keep having little lapses too so will try my best to be more disciplined this month.

There you go mol

The noodles were really good. To me they seem to be just like glass noodles. They haven't really got a taste, but absorb whatever you put with them. I made salmon with coconut and chili and lemongrass etc. (your basic Thai) and it was lovely. You need to prep them properly (rinse them for at least 2 mins and then parboil them for a couple of mins, too), but after that, they are good to go.

I've seen recipes where they are substituted for pasta and cooked with tomato, cheese and cream, etc. and I'm not sure how pleasant that would be . I think if you stick to Asian type dishes (after all they are from Japan), it's more likely to be successful.

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/03/2010 13:09

Forgive me, low carb friends, for I have sinned ...

Was at the MN party last night and we were taken to Pizza Express. I could have had salad ...

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 03/03/2010 13:49

BIWI - think I could beat you on the carb counting today - had 4 (FOUR) huge pastries at best friend's house this morning cos it's her birthday today. Feeling positively sick...

WilfSell · 03/03/2010 13:56

REEEEWWWWIND! 'CArb-free noodles'??!!

Gotta go now but will be back tonight - quibbler could you give us the full lowdown (details, feedback, stockists, websites etc)

Does anyone have a carb count for the celeriac dauphinoise for custardo over on the other thread? Please? ta.

Ninjacat · 03/03/2010 15:16

Those noodles sound fab! Eagerly awaiting details where to buy them too. I could easily mix those in with my Thai Prawn Green curry from Go Lower they would go so well!

I'm full of cold today and feeling very dreadful and very sorry for myself. It has been a huge effort not to go and buy myself something really carby to eat. Like a cornish pasty .

However, I didn't.

I haven't been especially good this week either, so am cross with myself for being a bit of a slacker!

OP posts:
WilfSell · 04/03/2010 18:46

I have an evil confession: last night we were desperately late picking up kids and had to scour supermarkets looking for World Book Day costume stuff. So we went to the Evil Empire (shhhh). And I had chicken selects

They had 26g of carbs!!!

But I did try to scrape the batter off. I discovered it is welded on with superglue.

But back on wagon today and hasn't been hard at all. I am still pretty proud that this was my only slip since Jan 11th! Must remember not to make it a slippery slope though...

Keep it up BIWI. What about lots of nuts to keep you through?

Ninjacat · 04/03/2010 19:02

My mother is on her way round for a take away curry.

I'm breastfeedin so still have 22ww points left after a good day. Hmmm how to handle the menu, something simple without rice, nan or popperdom...

Well done to the low carbers. Not sure I can combine that with the bfing but have done it to great effect in the past.

WilfSell · 04/03/2010 20:02

Chicken tikka, no sauce, salad, raita!

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/03/2010 20:11

Cauliflower or mushroom bhaji are usually good choices.

Chicken shashlick is good too - essentially a chicken kebab.

Anything tandoori.

Welcome lynbot and good luck.

supersalstrawberry ? at least you haven?t put on but hopefully this week you will be back to losing.

mejon ? Hopefully you will start losing soon.

simmo39 ? Hi on this thread too!

theQuibbler ? your noodle dish sounds lovely.

BecauseImWorthIt ? You have to have a treat sometimes. I hope you had a lovely meal though and it was worth treating yourself for. Hope you feel better soon.

Amazonianwoman ? Tum, pastries sound very tempting! I hope they were nice.

FrazzledBlob ? Wow that is a brilliant loss.

Motherofluvlies ? Hope you start to feel better soon.

WilfSell ? You have done really well not slipping at all since Jan 11th. I hope you enjoyed it last night.

Ninjacat ? Enjoy your curry. What did you have in the end?

I have been really good at drinking water but today for some reason I really fancied a tango (strange for me as I rarely drink fizzy drinks at the best of times) so had a diet one and it gave me a headache. Maybe it was a shock to the system having something like that when I?ve been good on the diet.

motherofluvlies · 05/03/2010 00:15

Hi
went all shift on water.no time for a break. That is amazing for me but....went to the theatre..was really good then came home and drank a glass of red wine with my good friend.Cant believe I,ve broken it.It was delicious though. So back on straight and narrow.I did miss out a meal today so maybe the wine can replace that?Theatre was amazing.Only a local production of Romeo and Juliette but very modern and an argentinian supporting band(piano, double base,cello.violin,percussion,2x concertinas)they danced the aggentinian Tango .wow

Ninjacat · 05/03/2010 08:21

Oh a trip to the theater sounds lovely...

I failed the curry test I'm ashamed to say. Went for the sashlik with salad but then snuck into the kitchen later and ate all the leftovers!!!

It's just a blip though, I'm back on it. Can't face to be so fat for summer.

amazonianwoman · 05/03/2010 10:17

2lbs off this week, which is amazing because of curry & beer last Friday, four huge pastries on Wednesday and four waffles with jam & clotted cream yesterday

On phone so will update list later.
