ok - friends round for dinner last evening so a complete 'no diet' night - was good in the day though and that's good enough for me

mysterygirl · 19/06/2005 12:52

despite having lost a stone and a half since April I am feeling fatter than EVER today! Please help!!!!

WideWebWitch · 19/06/2005 20:27

I can't possibly post what I've eaten as you will take the piss but it was v bad. Aloha, maybe you're not eating enough and then going into starvation mode? Or could it be sugar? Having read the GI diet book over the weekend (while drinking lovely wine) I reckon sugar was my prob back in March when I wasn't losing fast enough. I was staying under 1700 cals but some of them were sesame snaps, which are 50% sugar. Also before my period I seemed hugely fat, only for it all to drop off again afterwards.
I am starting again (again again again) tomorrow. If I shift another 3lbs I will have lost 2 stone since Jan, which is a bit crap but better than nothing. Loads to go still though so I have to get re motivated.

am still a suntanned fat blaoter
period

Saker · 19/06/2005 22:56

Eavesdropping on this thread. Aloha - don't be despondent! Your weight can fluctuate like that just because of fluid levels and hormones at the best of times let alone when you are breastfeeding. You can't gain a pound in a day!

Plus it is still very early days since you had dd so if you don't feel like dieting for a bit then I wouldn't blame you.

Alternatively have a think about the GI diet stuff. It's very healthy and you can have 3 snacks a day so it would be very compatible with breastfeeding. The principle is that when you have quick to digest (ie food with a high glycaemic index) you get a peak of insulin and that makes you feel hungry again. So you eat some more and get another peak etc. Also the insulin tells your body to store fat not break it down so it makes it hard to lose weight. So you should choose food with a low GI, like fruit and veg, high fibre food, fish and lean meats and cut down a lot on bread and rice although you can still have smallish portions of pasta. The food is really nice and you can have biggish amounts of it.

aloha I gained weight while bf and lost it quite easily as soon as I stopped. My old hv bf her baby for 2 years ("Bad HV!" she used to say ) and then stopped. I saw her a couple of months later and she had lost 2 stone

JoolsToo · 20/06/2005 09:25

the exercise is going well and have been reasonably good over the weekend.

please meet the new members of the coddiet club

aloha · 20/06/2005 09:44

Gulp Enid....don't plan to give up soon....would like to lose two stones though!

motherinferior · 20/06/2005 20:12

Aloha, I'm blaming the sudden hot weather for the unexpected arrival of a few pounds. Bloat, you know.

Not, er, cake.

Puff · 20/06/2005 20:21

rofl laughing Jools!

I've been goodish - children's birthday party at the weekend where I ate some naughty party food and drank beer.

I need to have lost 4lbs by Sat - hmmmm - weigh in tomorrow.

marthamoo · 20/06/2005 20:48

Well, I've put back on 4.5 lbs of the 6.5 I lost. In the words of Father Jack...feck and arse.

Been good today....but I need to be good for weeks. Oh who am I kidding? I need to be good for ever. Inside me is a fat person who will always be fighting to get out.

Puff · 21/06/2005 17:41

I've lost 3lbs, so that's 5 overall since joining this thread. Need to lose another 1lb before Sat to make it the 6lbs I wanted to lose overall.

WideWebWitch · 21/06/2005 20:16

Oh feck and arse indeed Moo. But well done Puff. I've had no booze for 2 days and have been moderately good today and yesterday but FEEL fatter so I doubt it's good news tbh.

snafu · 21/06/2005 20:20

Hot water and lemon
Wholemeal toast with marmite

Gravadlax, tomatoes, cucumber, bits of baguette, strawbs, pineapple

Poached salmon, lettuce, cucumber, boiled potatoes

....and seven mini Dime bars from Ikea and two glasses of wine...

I see what my problem is now. I need to go to bed at 6pm to prevent evening chocolate-piggyosity.

Puff · 22/06/2005 22:18

Where is everyone (including our leader)?

Muesli

fruit

split pea soup
greek salad

more fruit

swordfish, with a rice and veggie stirfry
small strawberry milkshake
small bar choc

Puff · 23/06/2005 17:53

Lost another half pound, so half a pound to go to get to 6lbs before Sat.

It's quiet on here

WideWebWitch · 23/06/2005 18:04

Today
1 piece of toast, marmite, olive spread
1 apple
a hummus and roast veg sandwich on olive bread (260 cals)
50g smoked salmon
a few pistachios
salad with rocket, watercress, spinach, kidney beans, cucumber, tomato, tuna, capers, hard boiled egg, 2 rashers of bacon, (but drained on kitchen roll and cut into small pieces), balsamic vinegar and lemon juice
1 lemonade ice lolly. Not great from a GI pov as it was water, sugar, glucose, flavourings but hey, it was hot and I was getting ice cream for 4 children so it was better than eating ice cream!

And I've walked at least 2 miles and no booze. Yesterday was ok from a food pov but I drank most of a bottle of wine last night. Never mind!

Puff, well done!

Puff · 23/06/2005 18:05

Well done on the walking in this heat WWW!

CountessDracula · 23/06/2005 18:21
