Just dropping in really - aloha, I read somewhere that 50% of women lose STACKS of weight breastfeeding (they are the ones who you see in their size 10 jeans saying 'Oh I really need to stuff myself to stay this weight...' and who imo should either be shot or force fed lard ) and that 50% of people actually put weight on. I lost a fair bit when I STOPPED breastfeeding, as did a friend of mine. In a way it makes sense, because in the wild a nursing mother would need to conserve energy in case of lack of food, so you're obviously a survivor! It's annoying though, isn't it, especially when all the 'breast is best' literature says how good breast feeding is for losing weight.

Glad dd is thriving!

ive eaten more than ive eaten in ages today

banana milkshake
steak & cheese subway
2 x salmon fishcakes
4 chips (!)

Ive also started taking digestive enzyme supplements as apparently Im not producing enough of my own. Now Im absolutely starving!!

aloha · 17/06/2005 22:26

You are all very nice people indeed, so thank you for kind words. I had a croque monsieur at cafe rouge with my oldest friend at lunchtime (left nearly all the chips in act of heroic denial) and had a plain grilled tuna steak and salad for tea (with, um, half a bottle of wine)
Will give up bread and see if that helps.
And yes, I do know my lunch was packed full of calories but I needed cheering up. Went into Zara afterwards and bought a beautiful Lilly Pullitzer style frock for dd, and nothing for me because they don't do size 16s in Zara and I wouldn't want them if they did [gloom emoticon]

when you're feeling like this aloha, the answer is: shoes, which are virtually immune weight fluctuations

mysterygirl · 17/06/2005 22:34

aloha - i wouldnt mind betting Im am a good deal larger than you! There thats made you feel better surely>?

Me too, mif, it just ran over my foot.

aloha · 19/06/2005 10:31

I give up. That's it. I have gained a pound. Yesterday I ate one bowl of just right and a fat-free actimel, a very small portion of rocket and parmesan salad with a slice of bread, one cappuccino, one peach. A big green salad with a slice of toast and pate, and some pineapple. I had two glasses of gin and slimline tonic, and I've GAINED a sodding pound. Plus I'm exclusively breastfeeding a four and a half month old baby who is on the 99.6 centile for height and near 75th for weight. It's not FAIR!
Feel v despondent. Off to have pedicure to cheer self up. May be v fat but will have nice feet.

Ive put a freaking pound on too overnight but do feel incredibly waterlogged so thats probably it. Also by sheer coincidence my hayfever has started at the same time. Ideas please for rapid water retention loss ?
