ducdo · 14/06/2009 19:52

started the day with a 6 mile run even I was impressed with and been better on the food intake today (no eating kids leftovers etc).

however as I type this I have a glass of rose wine in front of me and a pile of BBQ flavoured pringles which I am munching before eating a re-heated indian take-away leftover from last night .

lets see what the scales say in the morning .. fingers crossed!!

daisylula · 15/06/2009 15:08

hello am i too late to join you all? i need motivating!!!

i lost 2 stone after my dd was born through low calories and exercise and for the first time in my life i maintained.

but since christmas the weight has started creeping on and i havn't been exercising as much or watching what i eat.

i am 5'6 and curently 11stone 2
i had got down to 10'9 before but wasn't really happy with that so i now want to lose a stone.

i have started again today with counting the calories and am off for a run tonight (grin)

daisylula · 15/06/2009 15:11

ducdo · 15/06/2009 19:20

oops .. put on a pound in today's weigh in kind of expected though.

DH on nights all week so my chance to eat sensibly and get focused on Food Focus

And... welcome to daisylula. Losing 2 stone is fab so sure you can get back into the diet and lose the weight you want to. Good luck and keep us updated with how you get on.

reducedfatkettlechip · 15/06/2009 20:14

Welcome daisylula, and hi everyone! Just back from a long weekend away with old friends (without children, hooray!) Ate and drank loads but also walked, shopped and danced lots, so against the odds, lost a couple of pounds and am happy to report that I only have 1 measly pound left to lose from the 22 I started with.

Am not using FF so much now, but am trying not to cheat as I know I can easily pile it all back on.

Off on hols this week, so keep going everyone, and see you in a fortnight! Am going to try and run while away as a small attempt to offset the lard I will be consuming

lilianfox · 16/06/2009 00:16

Hi everyone

Great to see you all still around

How have you been?

I haven't had a chance to read all the post since i have been away (on hols for a month)
but congrats to Dulco on your continued motivation and weightloss and also to reducedfatkettlechip and all the others who have continued to stick with it.

I must admit I am a little relieved to be back as I ate shamelessly while on holiday and I wish I had taken my scales as I think that might have helped to keep me on the straight and narrow. HOwever I was pleased to find that I had only put on 4lbs at yesterdays weigh in. I was expecting much more. So I am 9.7 again and wanting to lose at least a stone. I'm starting again tomorrow and have calorie allowance of approx 1,100 per day.

Good news is that during the hols I started to run and often I ran everyday between 25-45 mins. sometimes could only manage 25 but i built up. the first day i could only manage 5 mins but thanks to you guys and your advice i built it up. been out running once since came home. Not sure if I like it yet as it's really hard work but sure that's why I didn't put on more weight while I was away.

Look forward to catch up with you all. Tomorrow I start a fresh

xxx

beaniebaby25 · 16/06/2009 07:58

hi everyone!
Welcome Daisylulu and welcome back lilianfox! Congrats on having the motivation to go running so much during your holiday, that's dedication. Four pounds isn't bad either for a whole month. Where did you go?

I'm doing ok, had a pretty good weekend food-wise and am sticking to the calorie target. Weigh in day tomorrow so shall report on proper progress then. However, I didn't manage to get to the gym at all last week, although i did walk everywhere (around 4 miles a day, two and from work) so don't think it will cause massive problems. I had some bad news at work last week and I'm surprised I managed to keep it together without reaching for the kit kats/crisps/other comfort food. Basically i have to reapply for my job, and I'm up against at least 8 others to get one position.

Oh well. I'm feeling more confident within myself now, thanks to food focus and you lovely ladies, so it somehow doesn't seem quite so terrible.

Hope everyone's well
x

Lucifera · 16/06/2009 09:02

hello all, welcome to Alice and Daisylula.
I'm going to an aquaerobics class tonight. I do not do this sort of thing (exercise!) so wish me luck. Have been trying to persuade various friends to come, without success.

beaniebaby25 · 16/06/2009 09:32

ooh licifera i LOVE aquaerobics!! If i lived near you I'd come. Where are you by the way?

Hope you have fun! Somehow it all seems less stressful in a pool, no one can see you wobble and you also cheekily get extra resistance from the water.

Wish i could go swimming more. The gym chain I'm a member of doesn't have any pools so if I want to go I have to pay £4 to go somewhere else. Boo!

Lucifera · 16/06/2009 13:50

I'm in Hackney in north-east London. Where you? Will let you know how I get on (excavates swimsuit from darkest reaches of wardrobe).

beaniebaby25 · 16/06/2009 19:26

I'm in Hackney too! Right near Shoreditch. How strange!!

Let me know how it goes.

ducdo · 16/06/2009 21:02

Welcome back from hols lilianfox and your weekend away kettlechip.

So impressed with how well you are all doing, Big Pat on the Back to You All .

beaniebaby sorry to hear about your work news, but glad you are feeling fairly positive about things. not easy having to apply for your job again, plus when up against other colleagues, just do your best. Good luck.

daisylula · 16/06/2009 21:22

Day 2 and managed my calories and a 4 mile run last night. I know these first 2 weeks will be the hardest until those first few pounds come off!! Going to try a boxercise class tomorrow night

Can you eat to little calories? My FF says 1310 after exercise, yesterday I ate 1000 and did my run?? And is it bad to open a bottle of wine now

Wow lilianfox that is amazing I wish I had the motivation to run every day.

beaniebaby that sucks about your work but it is amazing what strength you find in yourself when you are doing something positive for you

xx

Lucifera · 17/06/2009 08:11

Well I couldn't get into aquaerobics class, it was fully booked (hadn't had time to even think about booking). So I went to my partner's singing class instead and exercised my lungs!
Beanie, I work in Shoreditch! Should look for some kind of lunchtime exercise round here but I'm certainly not paying gym membership, I'd never make enough use of it. Sorry about your work situation, hope all comes out well.
Daisylula, don't know what anyone else thinks, but if I were you I'd aim to eat the calories you're allowed (mostly food, not alcohol!!) as I believe if you eat a lot below what your body needs you might actually find it harder to lose - something called "starvation mode". Or perhaps this is an unscientific pile of poo ...

beaniebaby25 · 17/06/2009 19:14

Weigh in this morning... and no loss! But no gain, either. I do feel a bit more toned but nevertheless disappointed

i don't know what to do!!!

I have a two-day juice diet recipe in my clammy hands - should i do it? I need some kind of boost and this calorie counting doesn't seem to be working

ducdo · 17/06/2009 19:29

beaniebaby25 how are you doing on the cal intake? are you finding it OK to stick to their daily recommendation?

staying the same is good in my book (certainly stacks better than a gain ).. i've been the same for past 2 wks + had period in that time, so trying not to feel too bad on myself!

beaniebaby25 · 17/06/2009 19:55

ducdo... I've been within 200 cals of my target, 1149, every day. and doing exercise, lots of walking and some gym sessions. ALthough mostly I don't 'eat' my exercise calories, but thought that wouldn't matter.

lilianfox · 17/06/2009 23:31

Hi there

Sorry to hear about your news at work beaniebaby. I went to Spain for a month camping with my family which was great. It was just being away without having the scales and lots of tempting food around.

Lastorders...i put on 4 lbs while away as well. How long has it taken you to lose the weight?

I have been doing ff the last couple of days and went out for a run this eve for about 1/2 an hour. Not sure how fast I am going though and how many cals I am burning. TRying to stick to my daily cals but think I might be coming in a bit over but i hope the run has made up for that.

Beaniebaby how long have you been doing ff? It's not unusual to reach a plateau if you stick to it you'll defintately lose and you might lose several pounds in one go.

Annner · 19/06/2009 22:50

Hi y'all. No loss for me this morning, either. . My pattern does seem to be one week none, next week 2lb, so here's hoping again. I feel more toned, but have a heavy weekend ahead.

ducdo · 20/06/2009 07:56

lilianfox to work out how many cals you've burned and how fast you are running, log on to www.walkjogrun.net/

You can 'create a route' by entering your postcode and clicking on the route you ran, you can also add in how long it took you, what your weight is and in calculates how fast you were going and how many cals you've burned. Voila

lilianfox · 21/06/2009 22:53

Hi

Thanks for the link Ducdo that's excellent I'll go and have a look.

How are you doing? How much have you lost so far? How are you managing to keep up your motivation for ff and running? Are you on track to meet your ff goal?

Actually I am really struggling at the mo with lack of motivation. I start out with good intention each day but often end up eating my calorie allowance by mid day and then i descend into picking anything and everything.

I was doing so well before hols and now finding it really hard to get back into it. Have been running 2 x this week but not for the last few days and been eating like a 'hog'.

I'm gonna try again tomorrow I've just gotta get going again I know if I could do it for a few days maybe 1 day to begin with then I might have a chance.

Here's to tomorrow.

Annner good on you for sticking with it xxx

lilianfox · 22/06/2009 00:10

Ducdo fantastic website. i am looking forward to going out running again! Noticed that there are a number of people in my area running and there are some good routes. I have been trying to find some routes to run as I live in quite a hilly area. It's also really helpful that it tells you the distance and works out the cals etc. I wasn't sure about how much i was burning before but really helps to have some sort of ball park figure. thanks again. good luck for weigh in tomorrow x

Lucifera · 22/06/2009 10:55

Soddit. Thought I could cut myself some slack over the weekend as had actually gone just below target weight, was doing loads of gardening and getting v hungry so over Saturday and Sunday had one ginger biscuit, one v small slice cake, one crumpet and a tiny bit of icecream. This morning, up 2lb. Howwww?

daisylula · 22/06/2009 12:41

How did everyone do on their weigh in this morning??
I did more exercise than I have ever done in a week and stuck to my calories every day not even eating the extra exercise ones.
And I only lost 1 lb
I know it is only week 1 but even so...
Although Lucifera I did the same as you and had a burger, ice cream and a couple of biscuits thinking I had been great all week and it wouldn't matter
Too lose a stone seems impossible. I am going to look at Ducdo's website now

ducdo · 22/06/2009 17:56

daisylula 1 pound is brilliant. don't be disheartened. I lost 1 pound too today and was very pleased.

lilianfox, I reached my goal of 9st 12 and now at 9st 11. changed my goal to 9st 8 and if I make it will mean a 1 stone loss. really not sure I will make it though as weight loss has really slowed down and i've stopped logging in FF, although confident if weight creeps up I can just start logging again to get back on track.

glad the walkjogrun website is helpful too
