Or 'help' even

wastingmyeducation · 27/05/2009 20:31

Keep the FF page open on your computer to remind you whenever you are online. (I have different tabs open on my browser so I can quickly switch between MN, email, etc.)

Work out how many calories you are burning doing different activities and input them. For instance, I put in the childcare option/cooking in the exercise log, so I always feel like I've done something.

Here's a classic - if you feel hungry between meals, have a glass of water.

You can do it!

Lucifera · 28/05/2009 08:16

Morning all! Elli, sorry you are struggling. Would it help/be possible to decide in advance what you are going to eat every day (perhaps you do that anyway but still get ambushed by chocolate biscuits ...) I know it's hard to get back the feeling of being in control, but if you could manage for just one day you could turn it around now, I'm sure. Good luck!
Wasting, plain jacket potatoes and pulses are good for filling up without too many calories, I think, and good for you too (I'm vegetarian and have to make sure I don't eat too much cheese etc which is v calorie-laden).

beaniebaby25 · 28/05/2009 09:56

Elli - best thing I think to do would be to forget the last week or so when you've not been entering the foods. Start again from scratch today, I'm sure once you get into the habit of entering the foods again it will then (hopefully!) mean you are more careful about what you eat. You need to get the circle going again... start with the site

ducdo · 28/05/2009 20:49

I agree with beanie .. ellibop you need to start again and you will get back on track. Don't be put off by falling off the wagon, you can do it ... . Let us know how you get on.

Off to the sea-side tomorrow so hope I can resist the ice-creams and fish n chips!

LastOrders · 28/05/2009 21:21

Elli - I'm seriously struggling too at the moment. I put on 3lb a bit of weight when I went away for the weekend, and am now sat here with a beer after my chips and battered sausage dinner

I don't think half term is helping as we seem to be visitng places that are ice cream and crap food havens.

So I've decided that I need to write off this last week and get back to it on Monday, once DS is back at school and I can get back into a routine.

Shall we forget the last week together, get over this weekend and not beat ourselves up and start again on Monday? I'll help you, you help me....

Because I'm at risk of throwing the whole regime in the bin and getting back to my size 18 cacks!!

Ellibop · 28/05/2009 21:40

Hi, thanks everyone. Thank goodness for this thread!

LastOrders - yes let's get back into it! Actually I started again today and have been quite good. I've done loads of walking and even though I had a bit too much to eat this eve I'm only just over my cal allowance. It's so tempting just to say 'forget it' and go back to old habits but now I'm starting to get back into it I do feel more positive. Like you say, get this week over and done with then start afresh next week.

Did anyone see that prog last night about 10 ways to lose weight? Very interesting and made me realise you don't really have to make massive changes to see a difference.

LastOrders · 28/05/2009 22:12

Yes, that programme was great!!

I'm going to watch it again on iplayer and write down the 10 ways, that may help me a bit!

Monday I'm FFing again and will start with a weigh in.

Well done for getting back into it Elli

Annner · 28/05/2009 22:52

Well done, Ladies. It is soooo hard when surrounded by chips and ice cream. Next week is just another week, and FF really does make you see the impact of just one last tempting tattie.

I'm a tad hacked off, because (apart from the weekend...) I've been utterly virtuous for the last fortnight but still don't seem to be losing anything.

I think that I'm going to jump on the scales tomorrow: even though I did go over my calorie allowance three times in the past week(and not by much) my Avg Net Calories has been 1386 compared to my Target Net Calories of 1476. So the weight should be falling off, as I'm not exactly starving myself, either. Average calories munched before exercise has been 1675, so maybe too much? I'm spending half an hour three times a week charging up and down on my rebounder, and only logging it as gentle jogging, as rebounding isn't on it, and walking everywhere ( which I do anyway, as I don't drive) and chasing the DCs around, blah, blah)

Has anyone else had to wait ages before their body got used to new regime and started to shed a pound or two? Help!

Annner · 29/05/2009 09:33

Yay! 68.3 kg. So no loss in first week; a kilo (2.2 lbs) lost in two. Huzzah!!

Good luck to anyone else stepping on the scales this fine morning. Just the sort of day to think wistfully of looking and feeling good in shorts.

Annner · 29/05/2009 09:37

Oh, and I carry a notebook around with me to write down food when I am away from PC (i.e. teaching or with DCs)

That way I can't kid myself that the kids' crusty bread crusts or choc mini roll were actually invisible and didn't count... or that the banana was smaller than it really was ... or that I didn't scoff the last potato. I then enter it all into FF when I have a mo.

Having a bad day or weekend in a long campaign doesn't make it lost, though. Courage and clamber back onto that wagon. It's nice and comfy up here. You'll soon be losing again.

beaniebaby25 · 29/05/2009 10:00

Annner - glad you lost a bit this morning, well done. I weighed myself yesterday and I've gained a tiny bit - which brings my total loss to 2lbs in two weeks. Which is only half my target of 2lbs a week But I've been reeeally good!!!

Have a picnic to go to tomorrow (providing the weather stays as glorious as today) so will have to bring my own carefully selected, calorie controlled lunch (what fun!) Still, I wonder how many G&Ts I can manage on my calorie allowance....

Anyone got any nice plans for the weekend?

HuffwardlyRudge · 29/05/2009 11:38

Today we ate out. I had a burger and chips. When I was full I asked the waitress to take the plate away!! Instead of finishing all the chips I didn't really need!!

Admit it, you're massively impressed.

Maybe I should go and report to the smug thread?

Lucifera · 29/05/2009 11:57

Huff, you deserve to be smug - I'm dead impressed!
I'm going on holiday for 9 days tomorrow, won't have access to scales or computer, so I guess I'll just forget about inputting to FF till I'm back. I'm a bit anxious about not having control of what I eat or being able to monitor (it's a riding holiday, full board). Lots of exercise, but will I be extra hungry??

wastingmyeducation · 29/05/2009 12:47

Well done Annner!

Thanks Lucifera, I should have known that. For the two years I managed to maintain my weightloss (ten years ago!) I basically lived on baked potato with beans.

Huff, that's excellent smuggery! I am glad you're here as I demanded photographic evidence of your spice cupboard, but you never returned to the thread!

Annner · 29/05/2009 13:16

Thanks, ladies [bows, showing slightly less rear than previously] Onwards and downwards.

Wow! rejection of chips definitely should be referred to the smug thread.

Lucifera - why don't you take a notebook? You can't do the full details, admitedly, but you can use it as a portable nagging service.

Beanie - 2lbs in two weeks is fantastic, (OK, so I am going to think that, aren't I!) and a really sustainable rate for you to be losing it at.

Lucifera · 29/05/2009 15:41

yes, Annner, you're right, I could make notes, maybe I will ...
Wishing you all happy days and effortless (yeah, right) weight loss until I'm back.

beaniebaby25 · 29/05/2009 16:04

Good luck Lucifer - have a wonderful break. I'm sure you'll be doing lots of outdoorsey stuff so you'll probably be burning more calories than usual anyway; I'm sure you'll be fine {

Huff - I am VERY impressed you resisted the rest of your chips

I had half a bottle of rose for my lunch... oh dear!

reducedfatkettlechip · 29/05/2009 20:52

hello everyone, God I've had a bad week too, loads of exercise done but so much munching and PMT makes me reach for the hob nobs with no abandon. Nightmare. Don't dare weigh myself! Had a book club meet last night and sat by the vegetable crisps shovelling them in. And then there was cake..

I've tried to be honest and entered my food on FF (very long list too!) and haven't exceeded my maintenance allowance, just my weight loss allowance if that makes sense. So hopefully I won't have gained anything, it will just be my target date which will go back. Grrrr.

Sending chips back deserves smuggery of the highest order. I still try to convince myself that calories eaten in a restaurant somehow don't count

We'll be at the beach this weekend, am lucky to live a couple of miles from the sea so we're planning bbq's and long walks. And lard, probably.. Must be strong, must be strong!!

Annner · 29/05/2009 21:11

Good luck y'all, heading off over the weekend. We're out for dinner at a friends' house tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

HuffwardlyRudge · 30/05/2009 15:09

Well so much for the chip smuggery. I was less disciplined when it came to the deeeelicious parmesan basket I had at lunch today.

I have GOT to stop eating out. Even a sensible restaurant choice is generally more than my whole day's allowance. Makes you think. Enjoyed it though .

Bbq this evening. Much kinder on the calorie front (and back and sides...)

Am going for an extra run this evening to make amends. It was 48 degrees here today though so will wait until it's a wee bit cooler.

I hereby do solemnly swear to DO BETTER next week and resume Food Focus with the humourless dedication I had in the very first week. Who's with me?

ducdo · 30/05/2009 19:35

Hi all, seems like alot of us are in the same boat of having a dodgy week and eating a little too much. I blame half term too, we've eaten out a couple of times, had some BBQs and just not in my normal routine, so found it harder.

Not expecting any loss on Monday when I step on the scales but will wait and see. My birthday on Monday too and we're having [another] family BBQ tomorrow so will try not to eat too much, but we have cake for afters and I have to have piece of my own birthday cake

Let's all get back to it next week, we CAN do it, everyone's made great progress and none of us would want to slip back to old eating habits .. i sure don't

reducedfatkettlechip · 30/05/2009 21:48

Ducdo, I think that's it - if your regular routine gets thrown, it's really easy to slip into bad habits. Am looking forward to getting back into it next week, have come too far to put anything back on, am really enjoying getting back into my clothes!

Ran 4 miles tonight so hopefully offset a little bit of the bbq we had at dinner. Another bbq tomorrow..

huffwardly, I'm with you back on the wagon next week. It's holiday countdown for me so need to start getting serious to hit my target!

HuffwardlyRudge · 31/05/2009 10:48

Went to toddler group after 2 week absence this morning. People were queuing up to tell me I'd lost loads of weight and was looking great.

I weighed myself (first time in 10 days) to find I'd stayed the same.

Have I lost and then put on again? (Probably).

Was I just wearing a flattering outfit today? (Yes, and I'd done my hair differently).

I have always said that weighing is a crap way to monitor slimness.

So I don't really know if I'm pleased or not.

Also, does anyone else hate hate hate it when people say "you've lost weight" as a compliment? I hate it.

drlove8 · 31/05/2009 11:04

boo hoo ... ive fell of the wagon too... first 2 weeks i lost loads, then it slowed ,then stoped... im "stuck" at 9 stone....(doesnt sound too bad, but im 5'1", so "ideal" would be 1/2 stone lighter)....lost for ideas to keep motivated tbh... having a bit of a "whats the point ,if it aint shifting?" kind feeling...
