Ta da!!!

Here it is, Ladies. It feels safer in one little spot!!

I'm not brave enough to put my vitals up yet, will wait for a few new posters to come along and throw me words of encouragement!

kettlechip - back to you.....

goat, I think you're my body double! That's spooky, almost same start weight, and same target too. I've just started running, I was hopeless the first time but managed about 10 mins without stopping on my second run. Am thinking of signing up for a charity run to motivate me to carry on.

LastOrders · 23/04/2009 19:09

There's a bottle of Pinot Rose in the fridge & it's smiling at me

I'm going to log my other bits today and see if I have enough for a small glass!

Or

wait for you lot to tell me "don't do it, it's not worth it!"

Can I join you all . I found this thread this afternoon and have signed up for Foodfocus. I was a bit shocked when I saw how many calories were in things like pears and grapefruits . Usually when I calorie count I don't bother to add up things like fruit and veg 'cos I thought it would be so low it wouldn't matter. I can see where I have been going wrong!! I weigh 10 st 4 and would like to be 9 st 5 by summer.

LastOrders · 23/04/2009 19:29

Hello kingprawntikka, that's an unfortunate name to have on a thread like this Come join our thread!

I'm a bit stuck on something.

I just stupidly had 3 maryland cookies (there goes my glass of wine) and when I logged them I couldn't work out how much each cookie weighed. It now says on my log that I had 3 cookies which were 84g and it was 420 calories

Does that sound right or is it calculating it as 84g per cookie IYSWIM?

God, I'm such a dick. What a waste of calories

OP posts:
kingprawntikka · 23/04/2009 19:38

Thanks LastOrders, sorry about the name
I'm no expert on how to use the food log but i do know my way round a packet of biscuits (!)and there's no way 3 maryland cookies come to 420 cals. I think they are about 60 cals each.

LastOrders · 23/04/2009 19:45

Thats what I thought. Iwas a bit as I'm hoping to crowbar a glass of wine into my allowance!

kingprawntikka · 23/04/2009 19:51

How long have you been using Foodfocus ,and is it working for you?

drlove8 · 23/04/2009 19:51

Well today i loged my food and got a shock as im under the calorie allowance by nearly 700 cals,(with exercise). I am now trying to decide if i should use them for a "treat" (glass of wine or bit of chocolate) or to "bank" them (so i can have treat later in week or loose faster)

kingprawntikka · 23/04/2009 19:52

I think you should write us all a list of these healthy foods you have been eating!!

LastOrders · 23/04/2009 19:56

I'm just about to have an Innocent Veg Pot - reduced in Sainsburys I hasten to add!

It's 296 cal, so I get my small glass of Rose after all!!!

I can't believe how strict I'm being now I'm writing everything down.

Not exercised today though, only running round doing mummy jobs, but that's still burning....

Ellibop · 23/04/2009 20:42

Hi, tracked you all down from the other thread! I was so tempted to get some chocolate this evening but I knew it would then probably lead to me indulging in an unhealthy tea and prob even a glass of wine too, so instead I had a Pepsi Max to keep me going and then a healthy tea and no vino so am now under for the day Woohoo! In the past I never would have resisted the choc and just thought I'd start again tomorrow, but because I knew I'd have to log it all it stopped me (this time!).

Does anyone know if extra calories left over at the end of the day can be carried over for later in the week? I had a few spare last night too so am building up some but not sure if it works like that - is it 'use them or lose them'?

changednam · 23/04/2009 20:53

Hi Ellibop - I was wondering the same thing as you..it doesn't seem to carry over spare calories from one day to the next - but in theory that should work.

The scales will tell us if it does or doesn't!

Pollyanna · 23/04/2009 21:37

hello everyone. I was on the other thread and joined ff on Monday too. I have a stone to lose and will do it by 24th June at 1.5lb a week (apparently!).

I am obsessed by the no of calories I'm consuming, but think its fab. I think it makes sense - to lose weight you eat less and exercise more. I've been doing sw since last july (and lost 2.5lb) on it, but have lost impetus on that a bit.

I even logged on at work today and inputted my lunch. Now need to put dinner on!

ducdo · 23/04/2009 22:47

Hi all, just checked out and registed on the FF site and thinking already I could get a bit addicted to it. Looks fab and great way to keep on track with the weight loss and keep the motivation going.

Would like to join this thread if welcome... Starting weight 10stone 8 and this week lost 2 lbs which I was pleased with. Target weight to get to under 10 stone .. keen to get back to pre-pregnancy weight / size as my baby making days are well and truly over (have 3 kids!)

Been running 2-3 times each week and trying out SW for the food so will see how it goes. Such an eye opener seeing how many calories I have been eating!

LastOrders · 23/04/2009 23:10

Of course you're welcome ducdo!

I've had an idea.....

I know I often struggle for meal ideas or things to eat at lunchtime, so thought that when we come across something low cal that we conjour up in our kitchen, then we could post it on here...?

I seem to be eating cous cous and tuna & lettuce wraps on loop.

Need ideas!

Cocobear · 24/04/2009 00:37

Hi again everyone -
Just got back from the gym so I've worked off yesterday's dinner! Had plenty to spare today, which I don't think is something I can keep up on a 1300-calorie-a-day allowance.

I'm at 11st6 and FF says I can be 10st5 by 15 June if I lose 2 pounds per week.

I had a roasted red pepper for dessert. DH is eating ice cream. Not impressed.

Cocobear · 24/04/2009 00:41

Lunch ideas. Hmmm. I'm in Brazil, and everyone here eats beans and rice for lunch. Everyday. It's low fat, filling and yummy, and if a whole nation of people don't get bored with it, I reckon I can stick it out for a couple months. You can vary the colour of beans for extra fun.

lilianfox · 24/04/2009 01:12

hi yes i agree lastorders i could do with some more ideas as well. i have been eating so many baked beans as i have found that they stop me feeling so hungry when i combine them with tuna, chicken etc (all in my calorie intake range) however i am starting to get a little fed up with them and could do with some variation.

hi cocobear what kind of beans and rice do you eat? i.e. is the rice boiled, falvoured etc how about the beans? Would be interested to find out. i expect they are quite filling and probably keep you feeling fuller for longer etc

good to see you ducdo

changednam · 24/04/2009 08:21

I've followed WW previously, so have a lot of recipes etc here. Variety is key imo - so even if you're eating salad, vary what you put in it.

Salad and boiled/steamed veg are a great way to fill up - I haven't been hungry at all this week.

Ff is much better than WW imo because if you actually like exercising (as I do) then it's flexible and easy to track and you know precisely how much you can 'spend'.

I find filling up at breakfast time a good idea - I'm just eating a bowl of muesili with skimmed milk and a chopped up plum; lunch will be salad, leftover cooked pasta from last night and some fish - probably canned sardines.

Not sure what we're having tonight - dh will be in charge of that, but I've just set him up on FF too, so we'll see!

nikkid21 · 24/04/2009 08:26

I'm having ryvita and low fat cottage cheese for lunch a lot at the moment. On SW I have been having a lot of eggs but now i've seen the calories per egg I'm going to cut down from 3 to 2 when I have them scrambled.

Am having quorn bolognase for tea tonight. I'm expecting to find that my normal size portion of pasta is too much calorie wise. Planning to go to the gym for a spin class this morning as I would like a slice of garlic bread with it.

Furball · 24/04/2009 09:19

I know cheese is basically a lump of lard fat wise but blimey, won't be having too much it's approz 100 cals an ounce

wannaBe · 24/04/2009 09:57

here's a recipe for quick burgers if you're interested:

Makes six.

11 pack (500 g) extra lean steak mince
one large onion, finely chopped
two tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp light soy sauce (light soy has signifficantly less calories than dark soy.

Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix together well. form into six patties and grill.

voila...
Contains 115 cals.

wannaBe · 24/04/2009 09:57

oops that should be 1 pack mince obv

ThingOne · 24/04/2009 10:23

I'm now on my third day after seeing the other thread. It looks great. I've been very ill so can't lose too quickly to start with, so have selected a pound a week loss. I like the way it tracks the proteins/carbs/fat too.

On my first day I blew my excess (I did a lot of exercise) on a large glass of wine .

I'm good on healthy eating but shit on portion size and self control so this looks precisely what I need. I managed to fend off quite a few munchies over the last few days by entering them into my food log.

I'm 13stone. Initial target 11 stone in Oct/Nov. If I can get there on time or before (depending on my health) I can then set my proper target of 9 1/2 stone.
