Having always been chunky since I was about 17, now I am really at breaking point. I have started so many healthy eating plans in the past and never get beyond the first week until now.

I don't really want to do a 'diet' as such, just cut down on the calories and excercise sensibly. I don't think I could or (want to) cut any food groups out so so far I have been just making healthier choices. More fruit and veg, not snacking on biscuits/ crisps etc. For quick and easy meals, I have been using the weight watchers prepared meals which are suprisingly tastey.

I am 5ft 8 and weighed 13stone 13lbs two weeks ago. Meaning I am nearly obese according to the body mass index. For the past 2 weeks I have been watching what I eat and going swimming twice a week. I now weigh 13stone 7lbs which I am pleased the healthy eating/ fitness plan seems to be working although I am still suffering from cravings and need motivation from you nice mnetters!

My waist is around a size 12 which is fine by me but all my fat seems to collect on my thighs and bum, meaning I have to buy size 18 jeans just to fit over my legs and then they just gape and look horrid around my waist. Nothing fits comfortably on my bottom half, I am so out of proportion.

I have 20 month old ds who keeps me busy but I do feel that having eaten all his left overs and snacking everytime he does for the past 20 months has not been kind to my wobbly bits!!

So that's the story so far.... anyone want o join in or share their stories??

happy birthday for yesterday nannyegg

alicecrail · 06/04/2009 11:40

Hello ladies, may i join you? I have terrible will power and i lurrrvvve junk food
I am 24yrs old 5'3" and i can weigh anything between 10st3 to 10st12 (all in the space of a fortnight, and no my scales are not up the creek ) I carry the majority of my weight around my middle, and some on my arms.
I have 2 horses so i have the opportunity to excercise plenty but i have trouble motivating myself. I also have a 17mo dd and i have started to lose a bit since she has been walking.

I have been on the lookout for a weightloss group on here that i felt was quite laid back and welcoming and you all seem very nice (big suck up )

nannyegg · 06/04/2009 12:12

Help!

I'm at work and there are chocolates! Work exp girl has brought us a big box of Milk Tray to say thanks for having her...just one won't hurt will it?

Will it?

Arghhhh!

Welcome alice!

savageisfat · 06/04/2009 12:16

Hope you had a lovely birthday nannyegg.

Welcome onlyaphase!

Hoe everyone had a good weekend. Mine was shockingly bad in terms of food! I ate well on Saturday but gave up completely on Sunday and ate junk all day! Arrrghh!! Why do I keep doing this to myself??!!!

One chocolate won't hurt nanny but I can never stop at one! I have to refuse altogether with things like that or else I'd not stop til they'd all gone! Hopefully you're not as weak as me!!!!

alicecrail · 06/04/2009 13:27

Thank you Nannyegg
Basically my plan is to cut out the snacking, try to ride at least 5 days out of 7 and drink more water. I think that is achievable and i don't feel that i'm depriving myself of the essentials.

alicecrail · 07/04/2009 16:59

Hello all
I haven't eaten very well today i'm afraid (i went to the chip shop at lunch time ) but on the plus side i haven't snacked at all and i didn't eat the last few chips just because they were there (grasping straws).

I think i might make dd and i some pasta tonight, (dh is away) any suggestions for healthy sauces?

AMumInScotland · 07/04/2009 19:35

Hello Alice and welcome. We're definitely laid back! I've had a reasonable day, though I did help my colleague finish off the remaining chocolates which maybe wasn't a great idea... but I shall definitely try to ficus, and see if I can get my weight to go down this week. I've been stuck for a while now...

AMumInScotland · 07/04/2009 20:12

Oh sockmonster, if you see this, Goober was looking for you link here

fraggletits · 08/04/2009 21:46

pretty much a whole pack of Cheddars (not mini cheddars, the proper biscuits) and a cornetto the night before weigh in

Good luck for tomorrow everyone

savageisfat · 09/04/2009 08:46

Well done nannyegg!!!! I haven't got scales so will be going into town to get weighed in a bit but I am not too hopeful of a loss. I feel like I've been a traitor really. I set this thread up and then gorge myself while you ladies are working so hard! I've had a good couple of days re eating so we'll see how it goes. I've been on my period this week (tmi!) but it's meant that the excercise has sort of been put on the back burner but I will be back on track in a day or two! Good luck everyone x

Well done Nannyegg, congrats on the loss!

Morning everyone - I am also chuffed, that's a loss of 4lbs this week....but only because I have been so ill. Tonsilitus is great for weight loss! Just don't feel or look any slimmer and its because I haven't been able to exercise, so DH has been told to take the kids out every day this easter and let me get on with Rosemary and Davina

Good luck everyone

I'm in the same position - one pound off. Much better than nothing, but don't think my eating habits have improved this week. Easter is looming and DD has had so many eggs given to her already, not sure what to do with them all TBH as she is only 2.5 and doesn't need or want them.

But, I have finished week 2 of the couch to 5K program and am so pleased with myself.

Happy Easter weekends all

feel quite excited I seem to have lost 3lb!! And havent really been trying but its given me the nudge that things are moving and I need to keep it up. Had some lovely healthy recipes from good food magazine this wk, tried to look for links for you but they dont seem to be on the website yet. They were and indian cpiced chicken with homemade coleslaw(but a lime dressing not a cream one) and lamb burgers made using couscous with sweet potato chips and salad. Yum!

Trying to stay away from kids easter eggs...

Another pund down, not sure how the hell I've done it cos I haven't even been able to go swimming or even do much walking this week. Really pleased and I am seriously going to work with you all now and stop making crappy excuses. I need to do this!!!!
Went shopping last night and got loads of fruit and healthy stuff to make good meals with. I have found that since starting I have almost completely given up snacking which is something I've always stuggled with. I look forward to my lunch but then I can now sit without eating while ds has his nap which is a real break through for me. I haven't even found I'm missing the junk to be honest, it was just a habbit of as soon as ds went to sleep then I'd get out the crisps!

well done savage, those habits are so hard to get out of arent they. I cant remember who said the little mantra about 'i'm going to put it in the bin instaed of treating my body like a bin' but it has really helped. Anytime Sometimes when I fancy something I think 'My body is not a bin dont fill it with rubbish' and it often stops me! Finding it hard to resist the odd bit of easter egg though

Caramelwaffle - still 12st 4. Blardy amazed actually. Have been eating like it is going out of fashion after being unwell last week.
Great news for those that have lost weight !!!!

caramelwaffle · 09/04/2009 23:32

As nannyegg says - onwards and downwards!!!

alicecrail · 10/04/2009 07:11

Good morning all
You all seem to be doing really well.

I weighed myself on tuesday and i was 10st6lb but have been quite bad since and feel a lot heavier. I went to see a friend on wednesday and she had made an obscene amount of cake/biscuits/merangue and all i ate that day was cake Yesterday was much better, i had toast for breakfast and toast for lunch (was feeling a bit sick after wednesday's cake) and i had a 40min riding lesson (i now can't move!) but then ruined it by having 4 g&t's and dinner out at the thai restaurant
Will try much harder this week

Onlyaphase · 10/04/2009 19:44

Alice - Thai food sounds so delicious to me right now! I moved to the sticks last year and really miss Thai food more than anything else. Good luck for next week's weigh in.

alicecrail · 10/04/2009 20:54

I had chicken stirfry with ginger - damn good, and probably not too unhealthy, it would have been the deep fried starters and the g&t's that made it all go wrong!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 12/04/2009 17:59

Hope everyone hasnt given up, I have managed to only put a pound on after a week of eating (and excess drinking), I have been really good today which wasnt too difficult since nobody bought me an egg

savageisfat · 12/04/2009 18:04

well I've been very good today. Got no egg either but I am glad!!! I'd have only binged on it!! lol.

All going well. The stir fry sounds gorgeous alice!!! Not sure what I'm having for tea yet but it will be healthy!
