Having always been chunky since I was about 17, now I am really at breaking point. I have started so many healthy eating plans in the past and never get beyond the first week until now.

I don't really want to do a 'diet' as such, just cut down on the calories and excercise sensibly. I don't think I could or (want to) cut any food groups out so so far I have been just making healthier choices. More fruit and veg, not snacking on biscuits/ crisps etc. For quick and easy meals, I have been using the weight watchers prepared meals which are suprisingly tastey.

I am 5ft 8 and weighed 13stone 13lbs two weeks ago. Meaning I am nearly obese according to the body mass index. For the past 2 weeks I have been watching what I eat and going swimming twice a week. I now weigh 13stone 7lbs which I am pleased the healthy eating/ fitness plan seems to be working although I am still suffering from cravings and need motivation from you nice mnetters!

My waist is around a size 12 which is fine by me but all my fat seems to collect on my thighs and bum, meaning I have to buy size 18 jeans just to fit over my legs and then they just gape and look horrid around my waist. Nothing fits comfortably on my bottom half, I am so out of proportion.

I have 20 month old ds who keeps me busy but I do feel that having eaten all his left overs and snacking everytime he does for the past 20 months has not been kind to my wobbly bits!!

So that's the story so far.... anyone want o join in or share their stories??

What's that saying - "if I can't set a good example I'll have to serve as a terrible warning"

3lbs on!

I'm not making excuses - I've eaten badly, takeaways and meals out, drunk wine and generally not been able to resist temptation. I'm so annoyed with myself.

But it changes today. I've had cereal for brekkie, a ham sandwich and fruit salad for lunch, and I'm going to have a salad for tea.

Well done on your pound fraggletits, keep it up. Well done too AMIS - maintaining's got to be better than gaining!

Good luck everyone else, I'm off to work in a bit, must climb the stairs a few times while I'm there!

Good morning ladies!

Not very surprised at my loss this week. I have been veeeery ill. My metabolism is sending me eeeevil looks and saying "hee hee. wait until I put 7 lbs on you this week, sucker"

Good luck for this week everyone

caramelwaffle · 02/04/2009 12:54

If you ever have food leftover that cannot reasonably be saved/reheated for another time, just throw it in the bin.
Do not eat the extra food! If like me, you feel this is extremely "wasteful", just do it anyway.

Learn to say to yourself;

"better the food goes in that bin, than treat my body like a bin".

It is a habit breaker. It has forced me to make/choose smaller food portions.

caramelwaffle · 02/04/2009 15:52

nannyegg - You've had a great time this week. And life is about having a great time. At least you'll know this week you'll be having fun - just with differant food. Good luck!

Fraggletits- congratulations on the weightloss.

AIMS - maintaining is a good thing!!

I will report later but need to switch the wii opn to weigh and dc are not letting me have the telly.

plusonemore · 02/04/2009 19:55

oops been out all day and forgot to weigh but will do tomorrow morning!!! Well done to those who have lost / maintained. To the others...oh well!!!

Lmccrean · 02/04/2009 20:38

Hey ladies. Will weigh myself tomorrow (no scales here) and not very optimistic as I only started 2 days ago

Today I power-walked for 6 miles with pram and been doing some heavy work in garden too, so think Ive met exercise quota for today. Have a 4 mile walk planned for tomorrow (to tesco for nice fresh food) - kids get out of school early so less time to fit it all in.

Been really good food-wise, mainly just cutting down portions of same food (which is rpretty healthy, but could be improved) and v pleased with myself re coffee - from 10 large cups a day to 3 medium

Got weighed yesterday and have lost 2lb which is good as I have been ill and not really eating the right things at the right time.

Need to get back on track and get more exercise which will help.

A loss anyway

Well done everyone. Let's keep going

savageisfat · 03/04/2009 08:30

wow there's been some amazing weight loss on here, well done everyone! Looks like we are well on the way to actually doing it this time! I have to admit though, after a rather good day of eating yesterday I went and ate a full big family bad of maltesers !!! I think that's about 650 calories which is shocking but I couldn't stop!

back on the wagon today though. I think I was just celebrasting my 1 pound weight loss but I've probably put it back on now! A full week of healthy eating should more than make up for it I hope.

I really need to do some more excercise aswell though, i've only been swimming once this week and have basically done nothing but walk to town a couple of times. Perhaps I should dust off my Natalie Cassidy dvd and try and keep up with her this time!

Does anyone know of any good workout dvds that aren't really dancey and need coordination??!!!

OP posts:
savageisfat · 03/04/2009 08:32

family BAG of maltesers, not bad... although it was rather bad wasn't it? .

not sure if i have really lost 2lb or if i just guessed my weight first time...oh well, this is accurate and I havent really been trying yet. Had a good lunch, wrap with lots of salad and grated carrot and just a bit of grated cheese and salad cream!

nannyegg · 03/04/2009 14:06

Went to aqua aerobics this morning with MIL. Problem is, it was actually aqua aerobics 'lite', so I was the youngest person there by about 25 years, and I'm not exactly a spring chicken meself ! . It was very light exercise indeed, a bit of a laugh but I didn't really feel like I'd worked out. Plus the music was bloody awful - Peter Andre, Aqua, you get the picture. So, I think I'll stick to my walking and wii fit .

Been good with food the last two days - loads of salad and snacking on fruit.

Everyone's doing so well! Keep it up!

Walking an hour and a half again today but wont have them regularly for next few weeks, til school back. Unfortunately, the kids were very very kind and shared their mini-eggs with me. Ive put most away, and will feed to DD later...other than that Ive been v good.

Anyone use any of the Body In Balance channel? I was looking at the dvds on Amazon, but thought Id see what I could find for free first! Not had a chance to really see it today - pilates was on for the whole 3 mins I got to have control of remote!

Also got Living Your Best Life (oprahs personal trainer dudes book) out of library earlier but no time to read it yet today. Might read it while on stepper later!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 03/04/2009 17:48

well I am going away for the week tommorow so i cant promise how good I will be but I will try my best, it will be the booze that will do me I think.

Lmccrean · 04/04/2009 22:29

Well, ladies. Im writing from the home of my mindees as been here all day! No exercise to speak of, had two jaffa cakes and sausages and chips for dinner..But been good rest of day. My dd is staying here overnight so will be getting up early to go for a walk before collecting her as long as weather better than this morning (hailstones and very heavy rain!)

However, I do like the scales here - they have been very kind to me!

Onlyaphase · 05/04/2009 21:19

Hello everyone, I've been stalking you all for the last few days and finally got up the courage to join you tonight.

I'm horribly overweight (13st 13, carry it all over particularly on tree trunk thighs) and really need to lose weight - partly vanity as summer is coming and I'm sick of having nothing nice to wear, and partly for health reasons too.

I've been exercising for the last 2-3 weeks and appear to be actually gaining weight, which isn't at all what I wanted to happen! I've started the couch to 5K program and am in week 2 and very proud of myself too, I've been swimming and cycling and on the Wii fit as well. What does everyone think of the Wii Fit? I loved it but after the lack of weight loss I now think maybe it isn't active enough to help you lose weight? Any thoughts?

I've added myself on to your list - the weight losses are very inspiring, hope they continue for all of you.

Hi everyone - welcome onlyaphase

I haven't been well this weekend, been laid up with tonsilitus and I haven't eaten very much at all, so as long as I don't overcompensate for that this week by gorging myself now that my appetite is returning, then maybe it will be a little added bonus to any weightloss I might have achieved anyway

Just wanted to say about exercise DVD's - I've always found Rosemary Conley's really good if you're feeling unfit and out of shape. They're not difficult, really effective and it feels like it's your kind old auntie encouraging you - not just a sleb out for more cash - she's a real pro!

nannyegg · 06/04/2009 11:06

Morning all - just signing in.

It was my birthday yesterday so I've indulged a little. I'm back on track again today:

cereal and grapes, glass of juice for breakfast
tuna salad and banana for lunch
stir fry for tea

I also have two belgian chocolates left over from my birthday so I'm going to save them for later and savour them!

Welcome Onlyaphase, have a good week everyone!
