I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

oh my god, pt nearly killed me ystdy, back again tmro tho!

upagumtree · 24/03/2009 20:58

Thanks for that Allovertheplace. That gives me a good idea of my count now Also I heard that the wii fit scales are the most accurate to use, however that is hearsay not scientific knowledge by any means, but hey ~ tis good enough for me! So well done on your weight loss

Mabs just think of the super slinky new you. Your near death experience will all be worth it. Keep it up

wabbit · 24/03/2009 22:17

OOOH how exciting - everyone really buzzing on the thread in my absence ... will do stats for all you weighers

loler talking of those weighing - 3lb is fantastic tis brilliant and such a boost

upagumtree - the only way i know how to work out the calories is to look at the back of the pac and see how many cals in 100g - then... work out how many in whole pack - then divide that by how many (equal) servings you'll get out of it. (but you already knew that didn't you and just wanted the short answer which I'm afraid i haven't got!)

madwoman 5lb in just less that 3 weeks is very possible ... just keep on posting what you're eating and we will (if you like) pass judgement

madhair excellent!! that's the ticket! you know you can do it

upagumtree so good i named you twice in one post... training going really well - I'm jogging most of the circuit now which is 2.8 miles and from 40mins down to 32mins.. DP's been jogging with me the last twice - I'm still jogging 3 times a week

Diet still going well here i think - I'm a bit boring really with my reports of good behaviour!

Washington spent the night on the tiles and I think he's overdone it a bit - been sleeping on my bed most of the evening, he had a visit to the vet for a check-up today though so he should be fine.

Sorry - been a long day and missed some vital stats - including my own last weigh in!

allovertheplace Sorry your post was on the next page and I missed it until I posted - the wonderful wii must be right!! well done on your loss

MABS · 25/03/2009 09:41

i have now put on a pound

upagumtree · 25/03/2009 10:04

Mabs don't be sad, it's probably build up of muscle from your training, or water retention or some other perfectly legitimate reason. Keep doing as you are and you will soon see the results of your efforts

madhairday · 25/03/2009 11:01

Mabs, like gumtree said don't be down, it could be anything - water, cup of tea, time of the month, anything, try not to be discouraged (tho know we all do it, those blimmin scales!)
Wow Loler and Wabbit, your stats are great, you are doing so well, in fact everyone here seems to be being very good! Wabbit meant to say my start weight was 11st.
Wasn't bad yesterday - had only 2 slices bread and cottage cheese for lunch, then we did have chips for tea but had lots of veg and not so many chips so didn't feel too guilty.
Have missed breakfast today which I know is not good but was too busy, so will have a good but healthy lunch. Horrible day tho, makes me want to eat chocolate, aaagh.
Keep it up girls.

upagumtree · 25/03/2009 12:47

Pheww...forgot how hard this calorie counting malarky is. Last night I ended up with a 500+ calorie deficit. But then I did have some maltesers, and then some more and some more ... and before I knew the box was empty goddamit! And then I had some crisps and 3 glasses of wine spritzer.Am ver ashamed of myself so that's it now. No more vino/crisps or chocolate with only the occassional weekend exception. I really need to do this and stick to it!

Breakfast - special k
Lunch - Wholegrain sandwich of Wiltshire ham and tomato with very thin spread of mayo.

Have had 2 cups of tea and am having a peppermint tea atm.

Not sure about dinner though.

loler · 25/03/2009 12:49

MABS - i know putting on weight sucks but I'm finding that it takes a week to show results - i.e. good one week won't show until the following week. So you've been working out this week and you'll get a good loss next week.

I've just got back from a 2 hour walk in the pouring rain - had the day off to get car MOTed so took the opportunity to take the dog out - she's looking very for herself covered in mud. She broke into the living room last night and ate 3 easter eggs (i know chocolate's bad for dogs but suspect not much stayed down as had a lovely mess to clean up this morning - who said they wanted a dog?).

wabbit · 25/03/2009 14:18

lol loler! it was MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

You'll find it gets easier the more you do any kind of 'counting' I'm finding planning from the start of the day really helps maintain my resolution to be 'good'

MABS - your pt won't let you slide into flabdom!

madhairday - i'm going to wag the finger of judgeyness in your direction for not eating breakfast but thankyou for your start weight - I'll pop it on

I had a meeting in the middle of Birmingham today with my future business partner, I fell prey to a starbucks low fat carrot and orange cake...
I've been very hungry this morning despite eating banana toast for breakfast

lunch - ryvita (2) cottage cheese, carrot sticks and ratatouille (eating as I type! )

It's a jogging day today - so I'll pop in again after I've been

So yes, do share re business partner?
Do you live in Brum? I used to.

loler · 25/03/2009 15:08

lol at Gumtree

I'm not a million miles from Brum either - am planning to go childfree shopping with a friend on sat. Love the new bull ring.

Just about to walk in the pouring rain to pick up car which has suprisingly passed MOT.

wabbit · 25/03/2009 15:56

Wabbit hopes loler has a good brolly - just about managing to dodge the rain here... I'm in Warwickshire a pretty town with a very beautiful ruined castle.

re the business - We're opening a Kindergarten between Worcester and Stratford. We have the premises, rent free as we're a charity, we have willing trustees, and a handful of lovely talented people willing to offer their help in setting up. I'm in the process of putting a funding proposal together along with a buisiness plan and our ofsted registration - It's going to be a Waldorf 'Children's Garden' where we spend much of our day outside. I'm very lucky to have been given the opportunity by some like minded (lovely)buisiness people they're a rare breed!

My business partner is in her last year of training on the same course that i'm doing. It's going to be lovely being able to share the responsibilities - especially the paperwork!

I love Brum, I think it's got a great vibrant and friendly feel. I was born there.

loler · 25/03/2009 17:37

I wonder how long it would take to drop my boys off at your kindergarten? Sounds lovely although you must have more patience than me to be able to spend all day with other peoples dc!

My Gran used to live very near your town, she used to take me to play in the park by the castle - does it have a slide that is sort of set into the hill - although this may have been taken out as it was over 30 years ago!

MABS · 25/03/2009 17:42

The business sounds very exciting, good luck,i'm on sooth coast, don't know yr are at all.

Thanks for all the positive words re the personal training. Am doing 3 hrs per week, can't feel my legs now! am hoping that and 2 gym classes will negate my bad eating habits...know it won't tho.

Very well done to the rest of you.

wabbit · 25/03/2009 17:59

Ah, no, they've taken the slide away - probably for H&S reasons! It's still a lovely park though with an indoor and outdoor swimming pool

MABS - ! You can't not change for the better with that amount of very focused exercise - sounds brilliant.

madwomanintheattic · 26/03/2009 10:48

cross today because i ended up with half a bag of chips as dinner last night. found myself at work until midnight and hadn't taken anything with me. must be more organised. b'fast and lunch ok though.

mabs - your psycho pt isn't going to stand for any wobble, girl. is it worth asking him if you're starting to build muscle now? can you do a percentage body fat check? it might put your mind at rest if you don't lose next week anyway - i refuse to believe you have put on any fat - just reorganising your content as it were!

kindergarten sounds lovely... dd1's school have just got funding for a huge wooden outdoor roof/ gazebo thingy so that they can spend lots of time outside year round - it sounds great.

right, i have GOT to catch up on my uni work. if i post tomorrow in a hideous garbled drunken mess, it's because they've thrown me off the course.
MN banned for the rest of the day.

upagumtree · 26/03/2009 11:25

Madwoman, banned yourself from Mn for the day? Bet you still have a peek though

Alloverthe place - where are you?! Missing ya

Mabs - still very envious of you PT. Are you still alive?

Ok breakfast: cereal and a cuppa. Just about to have a peppermint tea. Did really well yesterday and stayed within my calorie limit. Didn't have any wine nor indeed intend to have any more and stayed well clear of crisps/biscuits etc although there were a few wobbles but I resisted! Hooraaahh!

allovertheplace · 26/03/2009 11:46

Hi All

Sorry - was missing in action yesterday. DD has a very mild cold but it's producing this very annoying tickly cough at night and as a result I haven't slept for two nights so I'm a walking zombie. The only thing that seems to give any kind of respite, (albeit a couple of hours) from the evil cough is Tixylix Cough and Cold and we ran out of it last night. I tried to get some more from two different chemists today and was refused as it seems to have suddenly gone up to heroin-level classification! Dear lord - it's only a mild antihistamine/cold remedy. It seems it's only recommended for older children now so was refused by Boots. I went outside and cried my eyes out - I'm soooo bloody tired. Pulled myself together and went to another chemist, (all of this in pouring rain with no hood/brolly) and actually lied about DD's age by saying she was six (recommended age) and that chemist did a sharp intake of breath and said, "oh nooooo. We've taken all of them off our shelves since they're no longer recommended for six year olds and under. Give me strength!! Promptly burst into tears in front of chemist who was very sympathetic and tried to sell me all other kinds of remedies, which we've tried and know don't work. We'd be as well giving her sugary water TBH.

Sigh.... but enough of my whining. I am feeling very sorry for myself. I've got a house that looks like a tip, I've got a pile of work to do for my job, (I work from home for an hour and a half on my days off) and I just cannot be bothered.

I am still sticking to my points though - by some small miracle. Don't know how long I'll last though coz I would kill for a curly wurly right now! Soooo need chocolate.

Anyhoo - Glad to see you're all still forging ahead - it makes my heart glad to see you all doing so well, so glad I haven't succumbed (yet) to temptation.

Wabbit - your business sounds very "now" and a great idea. I'm sure you'll get loads of business.

Madwomanintheattic - sympathise with the chips thing last night. Organisation seems to be the key to successful healthy eating so I struggle with that too sometimes!

Mabs: A bit envious of your PT but just know if I had one I would either not turn up on days like this or if they came to me, would hide like the wee lazy coward I am! Well done though - I take my hat off to you.

Gumtree - missed you too!!!!

So much else I want to blabber on about girls but I'll have to go and at least push the hoover round this place - I can't stand to sit among all this muck!

Speak later xxxx

upagumtree · 26/03/2009 11:59

Oh you poor thing! Walking zombie, sick child, being id'd (sort of ) for flipping cough mixture and refused and being drenched into the bargain does not make for a good day. You have done so well for not giving in to the temptation of the curly wurly. Think you need and deserve a group hug. {{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}

MABS · 26/03/2009 12:13

thanks for the positive comments re the pt and the fact that it's prob muscle not fat,we'll see..

The incentive i have for going is that i have to pay if i canx within 48hrs! t'is so bloody expensive i can't risk that! xx

upagumtree · 26/03/2009 12:35

arrgggg just tried to log into food focus and it's down. Again! Does anyone know of a similar but more reliable site in the uk where I can keep track of my calories?

allovertheplace · 26/03/2009 13:03

Weight loss resources? And thanks for the hug - it helped! X

upagumtree · 26/03/2009 13:44

Thanks allover, I had a look but there is a joining fee for that one . I need a free one!

Am so glad you enjoyed your hug
