New thread for us to waffle on and moan about baby fat, without boring the others...and hopefully drop a few pounds along the way!

I am currently 11 stone - 69.8 kg
Want to be pre preg weight of 59 kg, about 9 stone 4 i think.

If everyone posts stats maybe i can do a bisou style list. (don't post weights if you don't want to! amount to lose will do!)

Weigh in on Mondays?

Veggiemummy · 13/02/2009 22:50

Will be in London and not sure about access to scales so have weighed myself and am 78.7kg so down another 400g which is just under a lb I think.

Am having a big breakfast then dim sum lunch then yummy Malawian for dinner so glad I have weighed in today really.

Nolda · 16/02/2009 08:27

Morning!

I have just weighed myself and I am now 81.5kg, so that's a loss of 600g. Every little bit helps .

kayzr · 16/02/2009 08:34

Yay Nolda!!

I haven't lost any this week But the lunch at pizza hut and our cantonese take away probably didn't help that! So going to be extra good this week.

SummerLightning · 16/02/2009 09:17

Morning, I have lost 400g, am now 67.2. Better than nowt!

Well done Nolda, and good damage litigation kayz with staying steady.

I have my fingers crossed for a good weight loss for LadyT this week, despite her boozy slip up!

oh oh oh and veggie, we are getting the chariot seat and the baby sling this week!! hooray!
Not totally sure how confident I will be riding with DS in it at this age, but exciting nonetheless.

Morning all....not a brilliant weight loss (but thanks for the cheerleading, Summer) and indeed I have been quite a bit less the rest of the week...85.7. Gosh, given that I have been cutting right down foodwise and exercising every day but one it's a bit rubbish...and very hard won but I will keep trying.

SybilFaulty · 16/02/2009 14:14

Well done to everyone who has lost or remained on an even keel this week. I went to WW this am and have lost 1.5lbs, bringing my total to 9lb. However, I have a lot to lose (about 40lbs in total) so it's eaiser when you are heavier as your body needs more fuel to keep it running. I am going to a 40th on 7th March and would like to have lost a stone by then, so need to lose 5lb in 3 weeks. Will have to seriously address the cheerfulness though, as I am having a glass or 2 pretty much every night.

I had some sushi for lunch but have made a rhubarb polenta cake since I've been back. Sausages for supper too - hardly a diet foot but very tasty. Must try harder.

Good luck to all for losing this week.

SybilFaulty · 16/02/2009 14:18

Lady T, am I right to think you have lost nearly a kg? In that case you are the slimmer of the week . Impressive, esp as you said you had fallen off briefly.

Sorry to do mine in lbs, it's my age. I thihk I need to lose about 17kg in total out of which I have lost 4/

LadyThompson · 16/02/2009 15:18

Syb, I can't do it in pounds because the numbers are too high. I like knowing only very vaguely what I am in stones as it's too demoralising/demotivating...Kg are nuch more abstract for me as I am old as well.

I am hoping to lose a kg a week (2.2pounds) but that is a really really big ask. I will have to work harder! That is going to require serious dedication which I doubt I have got but it is something to aim for...

SybilFaulty · 16/02/2009 15:46

A kg per week would be seriously impressive but would require a lot of self denial. I like my food and drink too much to go without completely, hence the slower progress. We went out for lunch yesterday and I chose the lowest lard thing on the menu but it wasn't exactly fat free and I had a glass of wine to go with. I also hate people knowing I am on a diet (as clearly I look about 8st ) so can't be doing with asking for everything to be changed or they might suspect! I usually do dressing on the side and then choose the lowest lard thing there is. But if I were going at it hammer and tongs I would have to stay in and that would make me miserable. All power to you if you can resist though - I will be in awe of you.

Just think though, girls, we have started quite well and quite early, so by the time it comes to flesh baring season (at least arms and legs) we'll all be a bit lighter than we are now. I often hunker down when it's cold and eat LOADS, then worry come April time when the sight of my dinner lady arms is too much to bear and I have to keep my cardigan on. At least we have a bit of a head start.

I also have a very greedy hungry DH. I can easily eat the same as him, but then I forget that he cycles 100 miles a week, and I don't . It's too much effort to cook separate meals so I have to have delicious food but less of it.

SummerLightning · 16/02/2009 16:49

LadyT I think 1kg a week is roughly doable, even if reasonably optimistic. That is about what I am aiming for too. Mind you I think I am thinking of those crash diets I used to do as a teenager, where somehow you seemed to be able to lose about half a stone a week or something! Ah, to be young again, and worried about being 9 stone 5.

I have a wedding to go to at the beginning of May and that would mean I would be back to my normal weight if I lose 1kg per week. So if I lose a bit less hopefully I will be almost normal, and will be able to wear a nice dress that I have earmarked for it, that is currently in the loft with all my other pre-preg clothes.

So I went and changed the size 14 jeans for size 16!! Eek. They look really good though. And my mum said she can't wear a size 14 in M&S jeans either, and she is usually a size bigger than me, so that made me feel ok about the size 16 horror! They are not the 12 quid ones though, those don't come in short, so didn't try them on. I think they were 16 quid 50 so still pretty el cheapo.

Sybil I am with you on the dieting techniques. I am seriously cutting down when on my own, and in the evenings sometimes we are having slimming style food, but also having nice stuff just in smaller portions. I have also cut out almost anything sweet and am keeping a food diary. And when I eat out I just choose something slimmingish, fortunately not eating out that much in the evening, and in the day can usually get away with a sarnie or some soup. However, I am still hoping to lose 1kg a week . Optimist, me?! I also have a problem in that I am used to eating loads as I used to have time to do loads of exercise (used to cycle about 100-200 miles a week, and could eat almost what I liked). Now I don't have that time, so have to eat less. Sigh.

I think I am also going to have a good sort of my wardrobe and find things that suit me, that I can still wear. And put other stuff in the loft.

AND when I hit my target weight, I am going on a shopping spree to find lots of nice new clothes!

This week I expect to lose less as we are going to MILs for an "alternative Christmas" (as I was otherwise engaged on Xmas day ). Hmm...I expect I will have to stuff myself full of food, and can't take my bike/turbo trainer with me without looking like an exercise nutter. Hopefully we will get in some long walks with the dog!)

Just managed to post this on the Post Natal thread by accident .
I'm late, as usual, but I am very proud to report that I have lost another 6lbs, so am now 11 1/2 stone, only half a stone to go

artichokes · 16/02/2009 21:06

Wow, congratulations everyone. You are all making serious progress.

I am sorry to let the thread down but I have gained . 2lbs . I am so cross with myself. I have had a cold all week so I didn't do any exercise to speak of. I also ate what I wanted. I had hoped I would maintain the same weight due to the breast feeding but that was too much to hope. Given the effort those 2lbs took I am gutted and furious with myself.

Summer and LadyT- a kg a week is quite alot but probably doable with real dedication. I am not going to try that steep a loss, partly because I am patently not going to succeed with my weak will-power, but mainly because I am breastfeeding. I know from experience with DD1 that rapid weight loss leads to a hungry baby and thus sleepless nights (took me a while to work out why DD1 started waking all the time just before my wedding, then I realised and was forced to indulge in a daily muffin and a two course dinner...).

artichokes · 16/02/2009 21:07

Katie - I just saw your post. Amazing. Brilliant. 6lbs in a week??? What on earth did you do?

LadyThompson · 16/02/2009 21:31

Well done Katie! Only starvation or illness could persuade my body to shed that much in a week so I am hugely impressed!

Arti - you haven't let the thread down. You've just had an off week due to the cold. You can pick it up again, please don't worry. I say I'd like to lose a kg a week but I know it won't happen. Tbh I would be thrilled to lose half a kg a week. Also, the thing that gets me is that I know some of my weight loss AND gain is just fluctuations of water etc. So I will really only know I am on a downward trend after a while. Don't give up. Tomorrow is another day, it really is. Cliched but so true.

kayzr · 17/02/2009 10:04

Well done everyone!!

Arti, don't worry!! You have been ill, if that isn't an excuse to eat what you like nothing is!!

katie3677 · 17/02/2009 15:28

I've just double checked and have definitely lost 6lbs - you were making me wonder if I'd got it wrong. I don't know how as I haven't done anything different this week, but it has been quite stressful, so maybe that's it. Bring on the stress I say!

LadyThompson · 18/02/2009 08:56

Not diminishing your achievement, Katie - it's amazing! Well done!

daisydora · 18/02/2009 09:01

I'm late checking in but I lost a pound Not brilliant but better than nothing. Besides with all that swimming I've been doing I've obviously created some muscle, which we all know weighs more than fat Plus I can't go mad with the bf, so slowly is best for me.

Well done to everyone and arti being ill is awful, why would you have any motivation to diet? Besides this is a new week and you'll do well.

I'm joining WW tomorrow night, am really hoping it gives me that extra bit of motivation.

SummerLightning · 18/02/2009 13:20

Hi guys just to say I updated the spreadsheet earlier in the week, got a few still to do, will try and do it later.
Well done everyone, especially katie, I want some of what you've got!! 6lbs, wow.
Arti sorry about your gain but hopefully it is just fluctuation.
I have not been very good this week, had a few choccies and risotto out at the meet up yesterday. So not expecting to lose anything this week, sigh, esp as off to MILs tomorrow, and she always feeds us well.

OP posts:
kayzr · 18/02/2009 16:43

I'm tempted to start going to slimming world. I'm a bit worried about turning up though and have everyone know each other. I would feel a bit silly.

artichokes · 18/02/2009 17:14

Just did 50 lenghts of the pool. It nearly killed me. I had grilled fish for lunch and its salad and soup for dinner. If I haven't lost those 2lbs by tomorrow morning I am going to be pretty damn cross.

Congrats on the loss Daisy and Katie I did not mean to sound doubting at all, I am just so impressed.

kmp1 · 18/02/2009 17:20

I'm late posting as been away - but had lost 1kg on my scales yesterday!! yay but at MIL's 3 kg!!! Everyone had decided that our scales weigh 2kg's over so I guess my weight is really down 3kg from what I posted (however I only lost 1kg if that makes sense?) So not sure what to post, but on the accurate scales I am actually 65.4!

SummerLightning · 18/02/2009 18:00

kmp I'll take the 2kg off your starting weight then and move your interim weights down if that makes sense!

arti 50 lengths, v impressed!
