New thread for us to waffle on and moan about baby fat, without boring the others...and hopefully drop a few pounds along the way!

I am currently 11 stone - 69.8 kg
Want to be pre preg weight of 59 kg, about 9 stone 4 i think.

If everyone posts stats maybe i can do a bisou style list. (don't post weights if you don't want to! amount to lose will do!)

Weigh in on Mondays?

Arti well done on gym sesh. Did you go for pizza or curry in the end?
I was planning a nice longer bike ride yesterday evening thinking to go when ds went to bed. Instead of going to sleep at 7ish though he fed from 5 until 930. Not impressed. Had to go on turbo trainer instead for 30 mins. He has just slept for 6 hours though!

Sl how is it they know when you have plans?

I've found a plus point for my new diet regime is that, as I am no longer troughing large amounts of chocolate, I'm almost caffeine free (I limit myself to one large tea at breakfast) and DS has slept so much better for the last three nights. Could be a coincidence though.

SummerLightning · 08/02/2009 09:10

After his 6 he sleeping session he went back to sleepbfor another 4 hrs! What is going on? I feel awake!
Nolda maybe it was the chocolate that disagreed with him! Only joking probably the caffeine! I haven't noticed any effect of caffiene on ds. Somedays I have loads and some none.

Oh also yesterday I gave in and thought I would buy some new jeans which actually fit me.
Went to TKMaxx, picked out 2 pairs of jeans.
Got to changing rooms, look more carefully at jeans:
Think, "HAHA, this pair are MASSIVE. They will be way too big for me. I am SURE they are not a size 14, they look bigger. This other pair should be more my size"

Guess which pair I bought?

Ooooooh!!!

14st 8lbs now!!!!!!

I have my appointment with the nurse about weight loss this afternoon.

Nolda · 09/02/2009 08:20

Well done, Kayz.

I'm 82.1 kg which is amazing considering Friday's takeaway and slap up Sunday lunch at MIL's house yesterday.

SybilFaulty · 09/02/2009 08:36

Well done Kayz and NOlda

I am off to fatties' club this am but am not optimistic. Do you think if I wore summer clothes I'd weigh less? And I am still struggling with my fat jeans

SummerLightning · 09/02/2009 08:52

Nice work kayz and nolda. Nolda nearly 2kg in a week! that is loads.

i weigh 67.6! Hooray! I am losing weight at last.

Good luck with the weigh in Sybil. Am totally sure if I went to ww or equivalent I would wear "light" clothes!

Yay, yay, yay . Go Nolda, Kayz and Summer .

I am celebrating too. I am 12 stone 6 lbs, That is a loss of 3 lbs this week . I am soooo glad I am bothering to gym and swim (because it surely isn'y my diet that is responsible).

Veggiemummy · 09/02/2009 10:05

Wow Arti that is great!

I'm 79.1 so that half a kg which is about a lb. I'm happy about it because it is def coming off but I think I need to crank up the exercise a bit. I wondering if I should walk to my sons playdate this afternoon. Was going to drive because of the snow but we could just all rug up.

kayzr · 09/02/2009 15:06

Just got back from seeing the nurse about weight loss. She has said to cut out snacks and to exercise more. The extra exercise I can do, it is the not snacking I think will be hard. I've got to write a food diary and go back in 2 weeks. If I haven't lost much weight then she is going to look at what we have for our main meals.

LadyThompson · 09/02/2009 18:35

I am seriously depressed. I was 86.4 kg last Monday, and when I weighed myself on Thursday AND Friday I was 85.5. I have had a long walk or a row every day bar Sat and Sun, so was looking forward to weighing myself this morning as, based on the end of last week, was fully expecting a loss of one kg from last week. And what happened? I weighed 86.7. How has that happened? I had the screaming abdabs about it this morning. Luckily DP was very kind and that helped. I have insulin resistance as a result of polycystic ovaries, and this makes it easy to gain weight and difficult to lose it - I was on Metformin until I was pregnant, and this hlpes my insulin levels. I think I am going to have to go back on it - I am tempted just to start, but I really ought to speak to my endocrinologist first DP thinks I ought to keep up with the diet and exercise for one month, and then if no significant weight loss, see the endocrinologist then. But I feel really demoralised. I tried really hard. I hate being this big, it's making me feel really miserable. I would go on one of those stupid powder diets, were it not for the fact that I know it will set my metabolism back even further. I wanted to go for a long walk this afternoon but the rain is so torrential that on the icy ground it is too treacherous and DP wouldn't let me. I will do some rowing machine tonight, and have a very small supper indeed.

Veggiemummy · 09/02/2009 19:45

LadyT I think you should probably see the endocrinologist now, see what they state of play is post pregnancy. Sorry about the weight thing but at least it's not really an increase.

SybilFaulty · 09/02/2009 19:55

LadyT, you poor love, I am so sorry to hear you so down. I find it hard to diet anyway and it must be doubly difficult to lost weight when you have insulin things to address as well.

Please dont do a silly diet. Without wishing to sound patronising, it won't stay off, will bugger up your metabolism and no doubt have a deleterious effect on your system. Food and wine is one of life's great pleasures and even if one is on reduced helpings, it has to be mopre joyful than a slim fast shake. Can you go to your specialist to see what he recommends? Also, would something like WW help? I find the idea of being weighed by a stranger makes my resolve firmer. Never stay for the meetings though as it's too like fat fighters for me (Dust, anyone?)

I know what it's like to be seriously low about weight and it isn't happy. FWIW, you looked gorgeous when I met you, gorgeous in the photos I've seen and no doubt look lovely now, just a little bigger than you would like. Big love to you now XXX

Well done SL, Arti and Veggie on your creditable losses. I went to fatties today and have lost 3lb (in 2 weeks) so that's a total loss so far for me of 7 1/2lbs. Only another 28 to go.

Had a large lunch with wine to celebrate (oops) and no doubt a low fat supper is beckoning.

Veggiemummy · 09/02/2009 21:05

Wow that's great 3lb!

LadyThompson · 09/02/2009 22:22

Thanks Syb. You made me laugh about Fat Fighters, anyway. WW no good for me as nearest one in Oxford 15 miles away. Besides, am already on a restricted calorie diet and exercising, so don't know what else I can do except more exercise...

Veggie, I was supposed to be seeing him six months post pregnancy but I don't think I can wait that long

Well done SL, Arti, Syb and Veggie on the loss though.

SummerLightning · 10/02/2009 02:39

Ladyt, hang on a mo.. So you were nearly 1 of less all last week? That is kind of progress. I am weighing myself every day cos dh made me due to big tempers if I have not lost any. Anyway all last week I stayed the same (68.7) then on sat I got on the scales and for some reason I felt hopeful and I had gone BACK UP to my starting weight! Words cannot describe how angry I was. Poor dh that is all I can say! And then mon morning I had lost a ton of weight. I don't have your metabolism problems but I have also found it very hard to lose weight even though I am cutting right down and exercising. For 4 weeks I lost nothing. So all I am saying is you may be on a downward trend but you may go up as well as down so keep at it. I guess I am just saying I share your pain it is horrible when you get on the scales and they have gone up when you have tried so hard and cut out stuff you love and you feel there is nothing more you can do.
Also I second what veggie says I would go see endocrinologist asap as if he will give you stuff to help metabolism the sooner the better really

OP posts:
SummerLightning · 10/02/2009 02:44

Oh and I hope I haven't annoyed you with my post - as on sat dh suggested I was on a downward trend and I nearly punched him and told him that my weight fluctuations so far were purely due to chance.
Ps what are screaming abdabs?

daisydora · 10/02/2009 08:25

Hello ladies...well this week I have managed to lose 3lb I have also joined our local hotel's health & fitness suite so I can use the pool as much as I like. Hopefully that will help to shift the weight and give me a couple of hours away from the house! So I'm off there in an hour with my mum for the first time while DH watches the children.

I go to Cyprus in 10 weeks so I have a goal to aim for. Right off to catch up on the other thread & congrats to all who have lost and Lady T please don't do any faddy diets - it won't do you any good in the long term

LadyThompson · 10/02/2009 10:09

Oh, you haven't annoyed me at all SL, and I do hope I am on a downward trend. I will redouble my efforts and contact the endocrinologist in a month, I think. Screaming abdabs...well, you'd know 'em if you'd seen 'em...

Well done Daisy, I think a hol is an excellent motivator.

SummerLightning · 10/02/2009 10:14

Would throwing my razor across the bathroom and breaking it, when I found I had not lost weight count as one?

If so, I think I might get them too!

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 10/02/2009 10:21

Definitely! They're the sort of tempers people in fairytales sometimes get (Rumpelstiltskin, for example).

SummerLightning · 10/02/2009 19:34

ok I have updated the spreadsheet.
I have agreed to join a team for a mountain bike race in June! They are taking it easy so don't mind how slow I am, but it will give me something to work towards.
And DS is asleep, DH out, time to go on the turbo trainer. Fingers crossed DS doesn't wake up (I put the baby monitor in front of me so i can see if he makes noise!)
