New thread for us to waffle on and moan about baby fat, without boring the others...and hopefully drop a few pounds along the way!

I am currently 11 stone - 69.8 kg
Want to be pre preg weight of 59 kg, about 9 stone 4 i think.

If everyone posts stats maybe i can do a bisou style list. (don't post weights if you don't want to! amount to lose will do!)

Weigh in on Mondays?

I just made a nicoise salad, just a q of throwing the ingredients together (after you've boiled the eggs that is). Also love smoked mackerel as an easy snack meal. Not exactly low fat but pretty good for you.

Cheese has to be part of any diet, surely?

daisydora · 06/02/2009 09:27

I might have been a bit heavy handed with the cheese , my hand just slipped!

Cheese is fine, I just need to learn the meaning of moderation.

Veggiemummy · 06/02/2009 09:42

Get a cheese cutter or use a peeler to slice the cheese it makes fir thinner slices than just cutting with a knife so you can cover your toast but not as thinkly.

I made a yummy salad the other day with brown rice and wild rice I had cooked the night before as a base then just added tinned corn, some peas and soya beans I quickly steamed and tomatoes and avocado. Oh and dome puy lentils from the tin. I also had some beatroot horseradish in the fridge so mixed that in. It was not too much cutting and preparing mostly opening tins etc so could throw it together between shoving dummies in and making ds1s lunch. Also with the soup I either put some potato in my soup like a sweet corn and potato soup or I cook some white rice with it and have that in the soup or bread (but that is always a temptation for butter yum)

Veggiemummy · 06/02/2009 09:45

However I think rather than healthy lunch ideas we needs some health snack ideas I ate 7 rich tea biscuits with my coffee the other day. Why can't I just stop at one?

kayzr · 06/02/2009 10:11

Oh I know Veggie, I can never just have 1 biscuit. DH got some chocolate biscuits the other week and I had 5!!

Nolda · 06/02/2009 10:11

I've been trying to eat DD's ricecakes instead of biscuits but it's just not quite the same. (I'm not depriving DD by the way. She has some too.)

My new sports bra came in the post yesterday but I can't face Davina today as I've got a horrid cold. Maybe tomorrow.

I think I may enter myself for the Race for Life. I did it in 2007 and really enjoyed it. Not too far to run and it was good to have something to train for. Anyone else doing it where they are? Or perhaps we could all do it together .

kayzr · 06/02/2009 10:14

That is a good idea Nolda. I am doing this. I was going to do it this year but I am going to do it next year so I have longer to train for it.

Nolda · 06/02/2009 10:41

Wow, Kayzr makes 5k look pretty pathetic!

kayzr · 06/02/2009 10:48

I think I might do the great north run too as training.

I'm going to book my place on the 3 peaks next week so there is no way I can back out.

I just need to find people to sponsor me to do it as I need £950 sponsorship. I might set up a table in the supermarkt here to get people to do it.

Nolda · 06/02/2009 10:51

Which charity will you be supporting, Kayzr?

kayzr · 06/02/2009 10:58

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. DH has Becker Muscular Dystrophy. Luckily our children wont have it but our grandchildren probably will especially if we have a girl.

Nolda · 06/02/2009 11:34

Sorry to hear that your DH has muscular dystrophy. But it's good to have a charity to support that is so close to your heart. (Sorry that I'm so rubbish with words but I do feel for you.)

kayzr · 06/02/2009 11:45

Its ok. It could be a lot worse. He has a fairly mild form of it. His biggest problems are stairs, he can't get up them very easily. He can't carry DS2 up or downstairs. He has to have regular hospital appointments to have his heart checked. He will be in a wheelchair one day but that could be years away.

Some people have a life expectancy age of just 25, so we are quite lucky compared to them.

SummerLightning · 06/02/2009 14:04

kayz that sounds like a great idea - the 3 peaks challenge that is! My friend has done it, sounds like hard work. You have to walk all through the night as well, having kids the sleep deprivation part of it should be easy!
Great North run good too - I did that one year a few years ago, it is very busy though, but great atmosphere.
If you want sponsoring I will sponsor you!! Sorry too to hear about your DH.

veggie i have been eating dried apricots when hungry. I think they are a bit fattening but they seem to fill me up so I don't need too many of them, also healthy.

Re aims, I might do a 12 hr mountain bike race that is on every year near me in October. It is through the night from 8 til 8 so breastfeeding should be good training for the staying awake part. I have done it the past 4 years (apart from last year!) and it is really good fun.

Not been on this thread for a few days - its great to see the odd pound dropping off here and there - well done!

I'm not going to play the weighing game, as I don't have any scales. Instead I've measured my waist and each thigh and each week will report on inches lost - which I hope to achieve through walking and also swimming (got DD signed up for a course, although I don't think I'll get lots of lengths covered in her lessons!) and from post natal yoga (my yoga teacher leant me a book) - fingers crossed.

So the first measurements are:
waist - 31.5 inches (that's double what Kylie's was in that corset she wore on one tour, wasn't that 16 inches )
thighs - both 24 inches (also bigger than Kylie's waist!)

I'm impressed with those signing up to events and starting to think about training - good luck

Veggiemummy · 06/02/2009 23:05

I'm going to sign up to the great north swim, it on lake Windermere, and a big 2 mile swim in Bournemouth. They are both this year but swimming is a bit easier than walking big blummin mountains. Oh and kayz I'll sponsor you. I've done a few charity runs including London marathon and I know how hard it can be to raise money. You can set up a justgiving.com page and get people to sponsor through that too.

Veggiemummy · 06/02/2009 23:33

ZJ what book was it, I have baby om which I loved with ds1 great descriptions, and good with or without baby.

SummerLightning · 07/02/2009 14:14

veggie, can I just ask which chariot trailer you have??
Am looking at a goodish deal on a cheetah one in nearby bike shop, do you have the cougar? Am wondering whether it's worth having suspension, I can't really see that we are likely to be riding anywhere that would really need it! But I do like spending lots of money on bike bits, and am a sucker for extra gadgets so I could be persuaded.
I would have thought any off road you are likely to take a trailer on wouldn't really need suspension?

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 07/02/2009 15:29

The cougar, i think, its the 2nd best one. There is the puma or something which is ludecrously expensive then ours which is just a bit expensive. We mainly rode with it on roads and paths but ran with it all over the place. Remember you want it to be as comfortable as possible for them because if they don't like it, that's a big waste of money. Now we have more countryside around us we will take a little off road, obviously we won't be going over really rough stuff but at speed what seems like a little bump to you feels like you've jumped off a cliff to them. I'm going to buy the sling this week, what is the cheapest you have seen it for?

SummerLightning · 07/02/2009 16:22

I think they have gone up in price a lot. Looking on google products the sling looks to be about 68 quid. I'm sure it was priced at 58 in my local shop today though.
The cheetah they are selling last years model for 385, online the cheapest I can see the cougar 1 for is 670!! With the exception of some european online shop.
So a massive difference and I don't think I can justify 670 quid on a bike trailer.

veggie I think it is baby om, I haven't dug it out yet - if it is that one, then good to hear its easy to follow, it'll make it easier to keep it up

artichokes · 07/02/2009 18:52

Evening fellow fatties

I have just been to the gym. I am pathetically unfit. I managed 20mins fast walking on the treadmill before I decided I could not hack any other machine. I then transferred to the pool where I did 20 lengths before deciding to transfer to the hot tub (it is an outdoor pool so I felt justified in thawing out in luxury). Heroically I managed 30 mins in the hot tub .

I am now in mortal danger of erasing the small good all that may have done. DH wants to get take-out tonight. I should fight it but I am so exhausted from all that physical exertion that I just cannot be arsed to cook. So then, which is more healthy, curry or pizza...

Nolda · 07/02/2009 19:32

Well done for going to the gym, Artichokes. Didn't you freeze swimming outside . I've still not managed to do any exercise other than walking.

Pizza or curry? Not sure, that's a toughy. Go on, treat yourself to whichever you fancy, she said wickedly, knowing she had had a chinese takeaway the night before .

Veggiemummy · 07/02/2009 20:34

Pizza has all the essential fatty acids but curry has hot spices which increase you metabolism, mmmm maybe pizza tonight, curry tomorrow night, cleary they are both healthy.

Veggiemummy · 07/02/2009 20:35

Oh and SL I think we paid £500 approx so it has def increased and that included a few optional extras.
