New thread for us to waffle on and moan about baby fat, without boring the others...and hopefully drop a few pounds along the way!

I am currently 11 stone - 69.8 kg
Want to be pre preg weight of 59 kg, about 9 stone 4 i think.

If everyone posts stats maybe i can do a bisou style list. (don't post weights if you don't want to! amount to lose will do!)

Weigh in on Mondays?

OP posts:
Turniphead1 · 22/04/2009 18:55

ooh I see the stats are in metric. So thats a start weight of 76kg and a goal of 63kg. Is there a weigh-in date?

PMK you are doing great too - real inspiration. Will look up this BMR stuff. Sounds good.

SummerLightning · 22/04/2009 20:43

hello all,
tilly that is amazing. I am jealous.

Having said that my weight has started to come off after 2 weeks of frustration. Will see what it is on Monday as that is when I am weighing in, but I weigh myself every day ish as if I only do it once a week and it's not gone down then I throw a moody, so I know it is coming down. Next Friday is the wedding that i was originally meant to be back at my normal weight for. Hmmm..not going to make it but will not be far off..afterwards am taking a break for a bit. The week after is wedding anniversary so going to go out for proper troff out.

turnip hello! Originally we were weighing on Mondays. But with lots of people going to wwers people just post updates when they can and I try and update spreadsheet details on Sunday night. There is a separate tab with details in imperial too.

Hey all. I've been really good and done a little session every night with the Fitness coach thing. I'm concentrating on getting my muscles back and then in about a month I'm going to start back on running and cycling training. I'm starting to get the itch for triathlon and competition again. But I know there is no point going at it with no muscle. I lost a lot of it over the 2 pregnancies and even doing the races inbetween the 2 boys didn't help as I was kind of chasing my tail. I'm hoping that building this muscle is raising my BMR...slowly.

I am investing some itouch/iphone apps that calculate the calories in food. There is one called shapeup that seems to incorporate activity into it too. Also sparkpeople.com is a free website set up by a rich guy to help people lose weight.

I can calorie count fairly well myself, DH and I used to portion control to keep in a energy deficit during the racing season but like you SL can't be arsed and also it is not so nice to do when I'm this big compared to 60kg.

SummerLightning · 23/04/2009 11:20

Veggie how much worse were you at triathlon between pregnancies? I am meant to be in a mountain bike race in June worried I am going to be crap!! Still it is just for fun. Am going to order new bike bits today so road bike should be back on the road soon.

I would like to get properly fit again though even if not as fit as before.

One thing, re exercise, does anyone else get a bit achey? Not muscles, well they do but that is to be expected, but my joints get achey - is this due to pg, hopefully it will get better??
Also running is not masively comfortable, ahem, down there, and also round scar. I think I may need to do more pelvic floors despite c/s! Not sure about scar.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 23/04/2009 13:23

SL a midwife told a friend who had a c/s and pelvic floor ishoos that it's the pregnancy and the weight of the baby on the pelvic floor that effects it most as birth it all kinds opens up.

My best prebaby time was 2.45hrs for a full tri and post it was 2.57hr so yes a lot worse. I put it down to inadequate training and not doing enough strength training. Though good news for you though I took 5 mins off my best cycle time, it was the swim and the run that I was worse in. I went from a 21 min swim time to 29mins, and I don't even want to talk about the run. I think my sprint tri times weren't too bad compared to before, it was the classic that was worse.

SummerLightning · 23/04/2009 13:35

That's not that much slower!

I guess 29 as opposed to 21 mins is quite different for the swim though!

I can categorically say that I am nowhere near as fast on a bike as i was. It's a bit depressing as I don't know how I will have time to get fast again. Maybe I will do a time trial and see what happens. Except timetrials are the same day as mountain bike night rides, and I would always rather go for a mountain bike ride.

daisydora · 23/04/2009 17:57

Well after a weeks All Inclusive in Cyprus and way too much cheerfulness I have only put on a pound I can honestly say I have never been so pleased to have put weight on!! My WW leader was amazed, said she put 4lb on when she went away

BTW Well done Tilly - fantastic.

Veggiemummy · 23/04/2009 22:53

SL I think getting into some strength training would be good, even doing plié squats and lunges at home would help with that as well as lots of hill cycling.

DH has been wanting to do that 12 hour race with some friends I should get him to do it this year so we can catch up. I've done too much night duties to want to make myself stay up overnight. Have you heard of the Rat Race in London DH did it last year and will do it this year too I think. Also we are doing a 260 mile ride from Bristol to Derby via somewhere in wales for a Histiocytosis charity. A friend is organising it as his nephew was diagnosed a few years ago (in remission now) so if you fancy a little road riding in august let me know. DH and I are go to take turns cycling so we can take the boys. So sometimes cycling sometimes driving support car.

Well done Daisey did you have a good time?

SummerLightning · 23/04/2009 23:07

Hurray hurray for Daisy and putting on only 1lb! I once managed to put on half a stone on a weeks holiday

veggie, It's not an overnight race, the one I'm doing in June, it's the bristol Bike Fest race, I think it is 8am to 8pm or something. So will all be in light as well. I feel similar about night races as well, was asked if I wanted to do the 24hr one at Eastnor (Mountain Mayhem), it is near my parents so would be doable for me, but I just laughed and said "sorry the novelty of staying up all night has worn off". To be honest I would do it if I could not need to look after DS the next day but given I would have to stay awake and look after him afterwards I think it would be hellish. It's hard enough work when you can collapse in a heap afterwards.

Your 260 mile ride sounds fun! Will you do 130 miles each then? That is a fair old way!

I have ordered the bits for my road bike so hopefully I should have it back on the road (and not just the turbo) soon.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 24/04/2009 20:26

Yeahprobably split it fairly evenly. It is over 4 days so plenty of time.

Im going to get out properly soon too I have found a road to a place called Hazelworth that has a big hill in it so might give that a go soon also going to start getting out with the boys and the chariot for getting places rather than the car. I much prefer that. I just want to see about getting Jordy into a helmut and also there are lots of traffic free or low traffic routes in Derby so I'm investigating them. I'm so glad we got the double now it's really coming into it's own with the 2 of them. I prefer it to the pushchair with buggy board except I can't get into my fab cafe with it.

Right weight! Well drum roll, I have finally broken the 79kg barrier just, I'm 78.9kg hooray! But it's a fine line so I'm going to be really careful this week. All the calorie counting talk got me thinking that I need to get my old food mindset back. I never used to even think about having regular cakes and chocolate before I got pregnant, never cooked with much oil at all and never used butter. It never bothered me so I need to get back to thinking about food the way I used to. I still loved good food but just good not crap.

SummerLightning · 24/04/2009 22:59

WELL DONE VEGGIE!!!

You never used oil or butter??
I still use them now and I am on a diet!
I don't believe in eating low low calorie stuff at the expense of it all tasting like nothing, just lower calorie stuff that is tasty and less of it. I have also found stuff like lots of garlic, chilli, ginger, lemon juice, etc makes things tasty without making them high calorie.
Mind you this is probably why I am losing weight slowly!
I am not a big cakes and chocolate person, though eating NO CAKES and CHOCOLATE has been a bind.

Cool about the Chariot. I haven't used it much as a push chair yet. It is pretty wide.
Maybe it's a good thing you can't get in your favourite cafe, it will keep you off the cakes!!

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 24/04/2009 23:37

That would be true about the cafe and cakes except have discovered it is perfect for getting into Home farm at Markeaton park's cafe and eating their cakes.

Kayzr · 26/04/2009 20:12

I didn't go to WW this week as it was my birthday, I'm going to be extra good this week as I am sure going out for dinner didn't help.

My Dad is building me a road bike to tide me over until we get some money together. I can't wait to start riding again. No lycra though!!

Veggiemummy · 26/04/2009 21:22

Building you a bike that's amazing! Did you see the game?

SummerLightning · 26/04/2009 22:25

Hiya all,
I have updated this weeks stats.
Kayz that is totally brilliant about the bike! When will it be ready (or would that be a rude impatient question to ask?!)

OP posts:
Kayzr · 27/04/2009 08:04

I won't get it until July probably as that is when he is next here. Well he is coming for a day in May but not too sure yet.

I didn't see the game Veggie, I was watching the grand prix and then I fell asleep with DS1.

SummerLightning · 27/04/2009 08:08

oh hooray hooray 61.6 today!!!
I only have 4 more days of dieting left before taking a break so maybe I can get to under 61.
I think I am going to brave buggy fit this morning.

OP posts:
daisydora · 27/04/2009 08:31

Well done SL. I could do to go swimmingtoday, I've most definately got out of the habit since my holiday.

Turniphead1 · 27/04/2009 08:48

Daisy well done on 1lb only on hols - that is a fabulous feat!

Kayz bike sounds fab! SL well done on weight loss.

I am really pleased - have lost 3lb this week so below the 12 stone mark ! I was naughty at the weekend - a lot of cheerfulness and steak and chips when out for my friend's pre_Twins baby dinner on friday ... and a curry on saturday (but only one beer).

But have been to gym twice this week and one yoga class - and more importantly am excited about losing weight, thinking about being able fit into my clothes etc. Hope it continues!

daisydora · 27/04/2009 08:51

Hooray Turnip!! Thats fab well done you!

pmk1 · 27/04/2009 09:00

down half a kg - Bugger was aiming for 1kg at least... oh well - the right direction and to be fair, I did step up the cheerful occasions and step down the exercise.... Must be very strict this week, and then try hard not to put it back on the holiday!!

sybilfaulty · 27/04/2009 14:10

Well done to everyone who has lost this week. I've been to fatties' club and have lost 3lb too . Alas it's the lack of cheerfulness / mountains of exercise which have done it.

I have been clocking my steps on my trusty pedometer and have managed over 10,000 nearly every day, thanks to the lovely weather. I have got to get the kids from nursery later on and as it's a bit cold and wet, I'm already thinking about the car! Need to get a grip!

SummerLightning · 27/04/2009 16:51

Cor well done Sybil!! All you lot who go to fatties club always do so well, v jealous.

pmk I have lost more this week than last, and I was more good last week! So I think it is a bit random, and half a kilo is indeed progress of the right kind.

Well done Turnip!! That is great, I don't think I have ever lost 3lbs in a week since starting this diet.

OP posts:
SummerLightning · 27/04/2009 17:14

Oh and buggy fit was great, (pmk I think you said you were thinking about it). I really enjoyed it, it was not too hard, but I think the instructor will make you work harder as she gets to know you (sadly she is onto me already as she knows I go mountain biking with her husband, so I think she may make me work hard next time)
We had coffee after so it was really good for meeting people too.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 27/04/2009 21:01

Have been thinking of going to our local buggy fit but I think it is only on in the afternoons so not chop for DS1. Had a nice active weekend. It is nice to be moving somewhere towards feeling fit. Also hooray for all the lovely weight loss.
