OP posts:

This whole tinned/cooked/blended fruit not being free thing - well I know they say its because of the volume you would eat more than if not in a tin/blended/cooked etc but then they also say that you can eat unlimited amounts of things, so how does that work?!

where is this other sparkly place people are talking about? can i join? although im not sure i can keep up with another forum

The lasagne sounds nice - I really like veg lasagne, but not sure about a low fat version - im not keen on recipes where cheese sauce is usually used and then they make a low fat version of it.

Today i have had vegetable madras from one of the cookbooks for lunch, and a batchelors pasta n sauce followed by sugar free jelly tonight!

Well done for all the losses!

JennyPenny22 · 13/05/2009 23:18

fuzzy - yes but you are unlikly to eat 20 oranges in one sitting and if you do, it would fill you up/stop you eating something else. Where as 20 organges in the form of orange juice is just one big glass I think which would go down very easily and not fill you up at all.

BUT I do think though with tinned fruit that surely it is just the same but in a tin? I don't really see how you eat so much more in a tin? It is still the same size etc at the end of the day?

Snorris · 14/05/2009 00:14

Most tinned fruit doesn't have skin on either so it isn't as high in fibre (?). That logic doesn't work though for pineapple etc that you wouldn't normally eat the skin!

ProfYaffle · 14/05/2009 06:51

this is the sparkly place, lots of tickers but v useful

Chloe55 · 14/05/2009 08:10

Could it have something to do with the fruit not being quite so fresh and therefore beginning to break down it's constituancy down into 'bad' sugars - Is constituancy even a word, I think you all know what I mean though

TitsalinaBumsquash · 14/05/2009 13:43

Hello everyone

I am having a hungry day today, i was wondering about the free food thing, it i went now and ate a whole big bag of grapes apart from the stomach ache i would have, would i still loose weight? Thats my problem you see, i eat a lot wether its fruit and veg or cakes and crips, obviously one is better than the other but will i still loose weight?

I have also measured my bust/hips/waist to see if i get an improvment there.

Im having loads of salad and having 1 tbsp Lemon Extra Virgin Olive Oil (sinned) i just can't eat slad without a good dressing on!
Luckily i have grown enough salad leaves in my garden to be able to vary the saiads all the time so i don't get bored.

I am also having a lot of jackets with cottage cheese in for my lunches.

ProfYaffle · 14/05/2009 14:55

TB - I think it depends on how much weight you want to lose. I'm the same in that I love my food and like quite big portions, my goal weight will put me in a dress size 12/14 and I'm happy with that. I know that eating large amounts of low fat healthy food with keep me at that size, if I wanted to be thinner I'd have to cut my portion sizes and I wouldn't be happy doing that, I'd be hungry and miserable. I think you have to watch some free food though, like rice, pasta, potatoes etc I think too much of them can stop you losing weight.

Today I've realised I've got a nightmare weekend coming up. dh wants us to go and stay with pil which means I have no control whatsoever over what/when we eat. Friend then wants to go out Sunday night which means too much to drink and then on Monday I've got this parents lunch thing at dd1's school where I'll be fed home made pizza (no other options)

And, on top of all that, I hurt my foot during the Race for Life so haven't run since so I'm not burning off so many calories. This week I've been on our exercise bike and went swimming this morning but they're not as hard as running. It's soooo frustrating.

fuzzypeach · 14/05/2009 18:13

Profyaffle - i feel for you with the nightmare weekend, ive had a few of those recently where there isnt much you can do about what you eat, and i get a feeling of dread, but just try and enjoy the "bad" food while you have it and know that you are straight back on the plan at all over times!!

ProfYaffle · 14/05/2009 20:27

I'm concerned that I'll enjoy the bad food too much and not know when to stop! I'm toying with the idea of abstaining from alcohol at pil but 48hrs with the mil .....

ConnieComplaint · 14/05/2009 20:58

huh! If she's anything like my MIL she's pouring it down your neck!! You are a very strong lady though, I know you'll try your best! (D'ya think the sparkly place is rubbing off on me yet, hun?)

Ahhhh can any of you luvverly ladies help me please? I want to know what my Club 10 target is.... I started off at 11.11lb.................

fuzzypeach · 14/05/2009 20:58

if you can handle 48hrs with pil and no alcohol, you're a braver woman than me

herbgarden · 14/05/2009 21:00

Hi can I join you too now ? My books have arrived and although I roughly knew what I had to do last week(I was with a friend who had the books) I've been trying the EE for the last week and think I've lost around 2lbs.I know that sounds a bit weird but I'm doing it from home and I'm not sure how accurate my scales always are.

Finding that I have to buy fresh fruits and veg quite frequently though - Aldi is good for stocking up although always wonder how anyone can do a full shop there .

I don't have a lot of weight to lose - about 10lbs to get to a weight I know I can sustain. Baby no 2 is 16 weeks and I have my sisters wedding in 10 weeks so I have a mission - I just couldn't be bothered before (too tired) but feel more determined now.

My weaknesses are finishing off DS's tea (toast etc) before my own, too big portions (I love my food) not knowing when to say No and picking biscuits and chocs from the "that cupboard" as DS calls it !!....it's hard but I have a sweet tooth.

Made a good pudding using two sachets of Options and some gelatine yesterday. It was like a set chocolate pudding - nice to pick at and not many Syns - I measured out the two sachets in a mug and then boiled up on the stove with the gelatine.

Tried the fry light roasties and roast parsnips tonight with chicken and veg and it was yummy.....

Am always keen to try new recipes though so any sweet tips welcome too.

herbgarden · 14/05/2009 21:02

PS I'm off to a wedding tomorrow - I really hope I can restrain myself although I see that wine has a highish syns value but gin/vodka less - am actually looking forward to a child free night away too....we'll see.

fuzzypeach · 14/05/2009 21:03

Hi herbgarden - your weaknesses sound very similar to mine !

Lilyloo · 14/05/2009 21:05

Just a quick one i made the chicken with babybel cheese and garlic inside wrapped in bacon tonight. Was really nice and free on red with cheese as he!
Proy i know what you mean i out for meal and abba tribute night tom. Set meal so no idea what eating. I do find sw quite restrictive for eating out tbh!!

ProfYaffle · 15/05/2009 06:38

This weekend has improved slightly in that dh has decided not to stay over at pil so it's 12hrs not 48 - hoorah! Still not ideal with drinks and pizza lunch too but at least I've got time to exercise on Sunday.

Lily - totally agree re eating away from home, though I have noticed a cafe in my town has started offering sw friendly options and advertises how many syns etc on it's menu.

Connie - don't worry hunnie ur the same as u always were hun. xxxx.

Hi Herbgarden at only needing to lose 10lbs, that'll come off in no time.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 15/05/2009 12:29

Does anyone know if the Light Laughing Cow chhese triangles melt? I would quite like to do the chicken breast with cheese thing but only have the them rather than babybell.

I need to know my club 10 as well im starting at 1st 7lbs.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 15/05/2009 12:30

Obv not 1st i ment 11st!

fuzzypeach · 15/05/2009 13:10

titsalinabumsquash i always use laughing cow light in my version of that chicken dish - it doesnt exactly melt, but it goes really soft and gooey and works really well

ConnieComplaint · 15/05/2009 19:17

TAIABS... your club10 is roughly 16lb (according to dh who worked mine out too!)

WHY IN THE HELL has no-one told me cottage cheese is FREE???????? Is this the worlds best kept secret or something????

I really fancied some today at work & as I was there without my book I text my sister to ask syn value.... very low fat cottage cheese is FREE... even 100g of low fat is only 0.5syns!! So a FULL TUB of low fat cheese (225g) is 2.5 syns!!! OH GOODY!!! I am on an EE day so I have beautiful thick ham filled with low fat cottage cheese and slices grapes, rolled up into a tube...mmmm it was so good... real 'bad' food...so good!!

Haven't done too bad today, was even in my MILs house 'cos it's FILs b'day & I turned down a glass of wine.. partly 'cos I was hungry & didn't want to stay too long & partly 'cos MIL uses crystal buckets instead of glasses!!!

Talk later huns...........

ProfYaffle · 15/05/2009 21:01

Lol Connie! I love cottage cheese too and quite often do the rolled up meat with cottage cheese on red days, I agree it's lovely.

I've had a difficult day today, I've stuck to the plan (so far, it's early yet!) but have been soooooo tempted to eat the crusty rolls in the cupboard. Got as far as taking a plate out then though 'what the feck am I doing?!' and put it back.

'Talk later huns' - see ya Attila!

ConnieComplaint · 15/05/2009 21:35

Oh you little cracker! You knew???? You ALL knew just how low fat cottage cheese is...and still no-one told me?

You did great resisting those rolls though! I'm already worrying about my holiday, we are going to a lovely caravan site near Paris & we stayed there two years ago too, it's great for the kids & the pub bit has a disco area downstairs... they run off energy & we feel like we've had a night out Anyway, as I said, I'm worrying already.. usually for breakfast (we usually go to France every year anyway, just different parts) we have croissants then for lunch we buy 2 huge freshly baked french baguette & cut one in half between me & dh... I cut mine down the middle & fill it with lashings of french salad cream, huge thick tomatoes & lovely thick ham, with freshly ground pepper... talk about slimming world suicide!! I am trying my best to think of still having the ham & tomatoes perhaps with a boiled egg & going without the baguette?

We're travelling on a plane so I could take a few packets of pasta n sauce with me (though dh will moan, it's not that he doesn't want me to lose weight, he just likes me to 'relax' when on hols...)

Any tips ladies?

LadyOfWaffle · 15/05/2009 22:15

Hey - can I join? Started SW a week ago but just had 'start tomorrow' syndrome for the first week, so started today really. Weighed myself and I am 2 1/2 lbs heavier than last week I seem to gain/lose/gain alot. Managed to muck up my syns for the day by adding a roast potato to my chicken then saw it was 9.5! And I thought sausages were free so ate 2, so had to add 10. Better have a zero syn day tomorrow! Living on muller lights at the moment, when I know I cannot snack it makes me all the more hungry...

MamaG · 15/05/2009 22:56

I'm LOL at all the hunni posts

I also didn't know v low fat cottage cheese was free! DH is delighted (he's doing it with me bless him, to make it easier)

kid · 16/05/2009 12:43

I knew that cottage cheese is free, its looks gross but tastes lovely! Because it looks gross, no-one else in this house will touch it so I get to eat it all

I am just trying to order my shopping online from Sainsburys, can anyone give me some great free/low syn foods I can buy?
Was looking for latest PW but so far, haven't spotted it. Will continue to look now though.

ProfYaffle I am in the sparkly place too!
