Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Hello all...
Not doing too well, am sooo hungry and keep giving in to toast with Lurpak (yum)

But am going to take the dog for a long walk today (longer than usual) and went swimming on Monday, so there is hope!

Are we doing a weekly weigh-in? And if so on which day?
Or shall we just randomly post our losses as and when?

Right, going to grab a coffee adn get stuck into the housework (bleurgh)

Notreallycutoutforthis · 14/01/2009 10:23

hippi - am using foodfocus to do all my weights and measures so weighing daily to get the overall trend (rather than depressing myself because I get water weight on the day I weigh myself or similar)

Elloeise · 14/01/2009 10:41

Notreallycutoutforthis · 14/01/2009 10:44

Hello Elloeise! Get yourself to foodfocus dot co dot uk for a free calorie intake tracker, exercise log, recording of goals and current weights etc - I'm loving it as it tells me just how many calories I have to play with, and you can set up recipes to calculate values on meals you cook for yourself. [evangelical emoticon]

Elloeise · 14/01/2009 11:06

Hi Notreallycutoutforthis thank you that sounds really good i'll defently go n check it out.

Elloeise · 14/01/2009 11:17

Thank you Notreally defently the kick up the bum i needed!

eekareindeer · 14/01/2009 11:50

I had porridge for breakfast and am still not hungry. Would normally be starving by now.

It was nice, too. Haven't really eaten porridge since I was a child.

bellavita · 14/01/2009 12:24

eeka I had porridge too with a few blueberries on top and am hungryish, but going to wait until 1.00pm for a sandwich. Have just got some veg soup on the go (have cleared out the fridge ready for tomorrows shopping), so I can have a cup full if I get any pangs towards tea time.

Have just had Squonk around for a coffee this morning and I asked her if she wanted a chocolate brownie, she declined and I am so thankful because I would have eaten one too - phew although she does not know I am trying to watch my weight.

JackBauer · 14/01/2009 13:03

Well, today could have gone better, had lovely big breakfast (including nutella on toast but in my defence have 2 under 3's with temps of over 38 and coughs/cold and I have it too!
Not had a chance for lunch yet as neiuther dd is hungry and am being clung to but have curry for tea, so I can have veg instead of rice and a bit of healthy naan and that will be ok!

Lulumama · 14/01/2009 13:35

today , had weetabix with semi skimmed milk and a tiny sprinkle of sugar and mug of tea with one rather than two spoons of sugar

lunch i had chicken and veg broth and some buttered toast

had a handful of nuts and seeds

i really need to find a sugar substitute that i can tolerate in tea

bellavita · 14/01/2009 13:41

I think I would rather go without in tea lulu (although I don't take sugar in coffee/tea), all substitutes seem really synthetic.

Lulumama · 14/01/2009 13:58

i can take it in coffee... i like splenda.

just have such a sweet, sweet tooth

i should have green tea really, but i need the kick start of a big mug of builder's tea in the morning!

Alambil · 14/01/2009 15:26

OMG You're all better than me

I've not even STARTED yet!

My food is coming on Friday (internet shop due to paralysing back issues) so please don't think I've abandoned this thread; I've just had nothing to report!

Lulu if you like sweet food to snack on, try dried cranberries (handful at a time); OMG they're like pure sugar!

OP posts:
bellavita · 14/01/2009 15:54

Lewis - I would second the dried cranberries!

Made Nigella's christmas morning muffins for the boys that calls for dried cranberries and they are really really nice. Had never tasted them before - the dried cranberries that is, I would not be eating the muffins .....

ladymariner · 14/01/2009 17:21

I'm back in from work, tea is cooking (pork steaks, mashed potato, carrots, broccolli and peas) but dh isn't home yet so I've come up here out of the way of temptation because I'm hungry now and this is such a dangerous time for me. Normally when I come in from work I'm into the biscuits/crisps/toast/all three so if I'm not in the kitchen I can't eat it!!

duckyfuzz · 14/01/2009 20:10

not too bad today, despite (very small and home cooked) fish and chips for lunch and a bag of starburst have found food focus and its fab (thank you notreallycutoutforthis!)have also been on wii fit 3 nights in a row, no booze since Sun and lost 2lbs since Monday

mamalovesmojitos · 14/01/2009 20:19

well done everyone, you are all doing so well!

foodfocus is amazing, been using it since monday. i'm doing well enough, not gone over calories any day but i need to start exercising. hoping to start that on monday.

interesting thing about food focus is seeing what types of food you're eating - mine seem to be mostly carbs and fat and too little protein. i had a demi-baguette yesterday - nearly 300 calories !

been good at logging olive oil for salad and butter on bread, things that in the past i've tried to forget about .

i realise how much food i've been shovelling in when i'm not at all hungry! good tip for a little chocolate hit are m&s teacakes, 80kcals or less and they're nice and sweet.

ladymariner · 14/01/2009 20:45

I've just planned my meals for next week and done my shopping list so that I know I'll have in what I need and won't just lob anything into the oven.
Loads of fruit and veg, and we're having chilli, mushroom stroganoff, spag bol, pepper and chicken bake, spicy veg couscous and a roast dinner.

ladymariner · 14/01/2009 20:47

Oh and a shephards pie at the end of the week to use up whats left lurking at the bottom of the fridge!!!

Grublin · 14/01/2009 21:19

I had a huge downfall today - we had a sample buffet from a new supplier at work, and they had puddings too cue me eating 1 sandwich, 3 chicken nuggets, a slice of cheese and broccoli quiche, some tuna pasta salad and trifle and apple crumble.
Dinner was a slice of home made banana bread.
Did another half hr on the treadmill this evening

ladymariner · 14/01/2009 21:22

sounds delicious, grublin

Grublin · 14/01/2009 21:33

It was all good

swedishmum · 14/01/2009 23:00

Mamalovesmojitos, the problem with those teacakes is eating just one!

Dd3's 5th birthday today and I did up my next size down trousers - not hugely uncomfy but not particularly flattering either yet. Hopefully by next week...

I made 36 fairy cakes and a birthday cake covered in buttercream and didn't even lick my fingers. Cooked lots of nibble/buffet food but avoided the carbs though I have had a couple of glasses of red wine. Feeling pretty pleased with myself - even made my favourite pampered chef spinach and gruyere thing but didn't touch it.

Only problem - even after 6 days my stomach isn't flat
