Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Very quiet here - I hope I'm not a threadkiller!

Well, did better today eats wise, had a brunch of scrambled egg which I shared with the girls and home made spag bol for tea. No biscuits, chocs or cheese and about to go on the Wii.

I am finding that if I brush my teeth early evening, it puts me off nibbling.

How are you all doing?

swedishmum · 19/02/2009 21:05

Tried to post but my broadband is v flaky atm. Half term not great for me but haven't cheated diet wise. Just not getting much exercise and drinking too much wine .

Glad you're doing so well Roobee. I'm still feeling very positive and losing some weight. Sadly not too much off my stomach.

MumHadEnough · 20/02/2009 00:29

Hi

Not doing too badly, Tuesday night I was very naughty despite saying I was "in the zone". Done good yesterday and today, but knowing me I'll be a nightmare over the weekend.

Oh it'll be fine cos its my b'day on Saturday so I'm allowed. Going to try and stick to low carb though and vodka.

I know what you mean sm, my tummy is very very difficult to shift too. But the more I lose the saggier it gets

Night all, maybe catch up tomorrow.

swedishmum · 20/02/2009 23:47

Happy birthday for tomorrow MHE!
I know I'm making little improvements but want to be skinny now now now! At 5'10'' I've always felt very hefty so am pleased I've lost some weight from my shoulders. Less like a Russian 70s weight lifter now - makes me feel more feminine. A way to go yet though .
On a good note no-one offered me a seat as a pregnant mum on the tube today. Mind you no-one ever did, even when I was 8 months...

MumHadEnough · 22/02/2009 00:59

Lol at russian weight lifter swedishmum.

Thanks for birthday greeting. Had a lovely lazy day and a big fat indian meal for dinner with lots of vodka. Can't beat the 15 ferrero rocher I had for breakfast though lol.

Definitely back on diet in ernest on Monday though.

ladymariner · 22/02/2009 12:17

Hi all, hope you're all doing well, loving the sound of your breakfast, Mum, and hope you had a very happy birthday

I was doing ok till we went to a murder mystery night on friday night. We had a fab night, and the meal was delicious.....melon with fruit to start (good so far!) then a truly scrumptious steak pie, chips and mushy peas, followed by a huge slab of banoffee pie. Bloody MARVELLOUS!!!!!! I did have a fleeting thought that perhaps I could give dh my dessert (it was a set menu, in my defence!) but it was only fleeting, actually it was so fleeting it was almost non-existant!! In truth, I was like Spike, the dog off Tom & Jerry when he curls himself round his bone, if anyone had tried to rake it off me I would have had their arm off!!!!

swedishmum · 22/02/2009 23:35

Sounds like some good weekends were had...

Welcome to my boring life . There's a left over creme brulee winking at me every time I open the fridge. But hey, I've trained my tastebuds to prefer caffeine free tea and salad. Wouldn't swap my ratatouille for all the steak pie and chips in the world [total lie emoticon needed}. Can't believe I haven't had bread, chocolate, cake, biscuits, pastry or potatoes for at least 5 weeks. It's obviously getting to me. Am I skinny yet??

ladymariner · 23/02/2009 10:50

That steak pie doesn't feel like such a good idea now that I'm getting weighed later, I think I'm looking at a 2lbs gain this week!

Back to school today, though, so I can get back into a routine again. When I'm off it's too easy to fall off the wagon. I think you've done fantastically well, Swedish, and it must be showing now, well done you

ladymariner · 23/02/2009 18:33

Yup, 2lbs on. Mardy as hell

swedishmum · 23/02/2009 20:41

Like you say, back to school and routine. I'm sure it'll soon drop off. And if healthy eating is going to be a lifestyle, there have to be opportunities to have fun and not feel guilty. I can't be doing with those people who go out for an evening and poke lovely food around the plate. As long as it is a rare treat not a habit, so be it (according India Knight)
Went to cinema to see Bolt with dd3 (training day) - watched her eat loads of white choc mice while I drank my bottle of water

ladymariner · 23/02/2009 21:31

I feel for you, I took ds to see Pink Panther in the hols and he demolished a huge bar of Dairy Milk (my favourite [envy)), it took all my willpower not to wrench it out of his hands and run off cramming it into my mouth!!!

India Knight is my kind of woman if she says things like that!

Just in from playing netball and we won for as change, had a bath and now feel motivated again. Really don't want to let all this hard work slip now, so shall be back to planning meals and doing mumsnet worthwhile household chores instead of snacking!!!

ladymariner · 23/02/2009 21:32

See, thats what chocolate-deprivation does for you, cocks all your emoticons up!!!!!

ladymariner · 25/02/2009 19:10

Helllloooooo.......where are you all???? I've come on here cos I'm feeling as though I could eat my weight in chocolate, where are you......xxxx

swedishmum · 25/02/2009 22:16

I'm here! Stand back from that chocolate!!

I fastened up a skirt yesterday that I've never done up before - OK it's a bit dated now (had it 2 years) but still pretty good. Mind you, am drinking red wine as I speak

Why do you want to eat all that chocolate, LM?

ladymariner · 26/02/2009 17:32

I'm on this week so i don't know if that's why, but I'VE HAD SUCH A CRAVING!!! My partner in crime colleague and I were so desperate for a sugar fix yesterday we raided the PTA cupboard at work and scoffed some of the sweeties in there from the last school disco
But i did do 20 minutes on the cross-trainer to make up for it. That's the good news.

The bad news is that I've now eaten a bag of those new Toffee Crisp Clusters
So now I'm going out for a power walk with my friend to hopefully burn some of it off!

So annoyed and upset with myself, I was sooooo motivated and little by little I'm slipping, and thats the last thing I want to do! A month ago if I'd had a craving like that I would have come on here or doen something to take my mind off it, yet today I caved in. Hopefully thats my lot, I actually feel sick, tbh, perhaps I need to remember this feeling next time I want chocolate!

ladymariner · 26/02/2009 17:34

sorry, swedish, slipping into my self-pity and didn't congratulate you on your skirt, thats great, and just the sort of thing that keeps you motivated, well done you

swedishmum · 27/02/2009 01:04

Well, as a PTA Chair, I'm utterly appalled
As a sometime teacher I know the feeling.

Toffee crisp clusters should be banned. Have you ever made HuffPuff cakes? They taste pretty much the same. Rice crispie cakes with butter in. But hey, that's the old me.

Met a friend for coffee this morning - was buzzing with 3 black coffees and no breakfast! Just wish I could find a quick easy low carb breakfast. Hey ho - a few weeks and I'll be on berries. How sad do I sound??

Stand back from the chocolate - it's very short term satisfaction (says the woman who nearly ate tuna pate off her finger in M and S this afternoon)......

ladymariner · 01/03/2009 21:23

evening all, hope we've all had a successful weekend?

If I haven't lost any weight this week I shall spit! We've had a family day at my brother's and my sil does the most amazing buffets, there were desserts to cobble dogs with, sausage rolls, quiches, nibbles, all the stuff I usually fall upon with gusto. However, there were also salads and ham, pork and turkey, so I was soooooo good and piled my plate up with those, didn't slip up once, but oh my, was it hard!!!!

I also went for a 3mile walk with my friend this morning!!

swedishmum · 01/03/2009 22:00

Wow, well done! Evening all was a bit hopeful though - only us left by the look of it .
I've been pretty good - nearly slipped up cooking roast dinner. Made me realise how much I like stuffing/roast potatoes/yorkshire puddings. Plus I made a Nigella lemon drizzle loaf. Didn't even lick my fingers.
I finally fixed a pair of trousers - ripped them walking up to the Acropolis 2 years ago. They are far too big!!
Must drink more water this week. Oh, and less wine. That's OK because we're on major credit crunch.

ladymariner · 03/03/2009 09:29

We're nothing if not loyal, swedish!!!!

I lost 2lbs when I got weighed yesterday so I'm really pleased and I shall stay off the toffee crisp clusters this week as well!! (although huffa puffa cakes do sound good!!)
I saw someone on sunday who I hadnt seen since xmas and the first thing she said was had I lost weight?? Hurrah!

Well done on your loose trousers, what a great feeling.

So glad we've kept this thread running, thanks swedish xxxx

swedishmum · 04/03/2009 16:12

It's great when people notice isn't it? The same thing happened to me yesterday - saw a friend I haven't seen in a while.
The great thing is I haven't been hungry, but I need to find some quick breakfast ideas as I'm hoping to do a bit more work very soon. Can't work all morning on black coffee and water.

ladymariner · 04/03/2009 18:19

Have to have my breakfast else I'm ready to kill by 11am! I usually have 2 weetabix with warm milk, raisins, blueberries and a chopped-up banana on them - yum, and it fills me up!

what about beans on toast, or scrambled eggs for breakfast if you're looking for low carbs? It is difficult, though, I can't be bothered to faff about in the mornings, I barely leave enough time to eat what I have!!

swedishmum · 04/03/2009 21:19

Scrambled eggs or something is ideal, but while I'm not working I eat after the school run. Have 2 school runs - 2.5 mile round trip to bus stop at 7.40 then 8 mile round trip with dd3 leaving at 8.30. Am not organised enough to fit in a shower and cook something! A few more weeks and I can add berries so that will be easy. Don't really fancy fish or green veg for breakfast! Could have porridge with water not milk (yuk emoticon).

ladymariner · 04/03/2009 21:42

Wow, I'm v.impressed, what time do you get up? I get up at 6.30 so that I can have my bath before ds gets up at 7 and proceeds to hog the bathroom for ages, what that boy does in there I just do not know (and probably don't really want to know either!). Dh is a shift worker so he's usually gone to work by the time I get up, or just coming in. If it is his day off he stays in bed till we're sorted, to say I'm not a great conversationalist in the morning is a bit like saying the pope is a bit religious!

Sorry, went off on a tangent then. Not sure really what to advise for your breakfast, I do like my carbs. What about making a fritatta the night before and keeping it in the fridge so you can just have a wedge of that in the morning? You can eat that hot or cold.

swedishmum · 04/03/2009 22:04

Mmm Frittata sounds good - I had the love food hate waste team round (complete with photographer) so frittata fits in with using up veg as well. Will make one tomorrow as I have an interview on Friday am but am rehearsing with a few kids for a concert first. I normally get up about 6.15 - if I don't have a shower before I have to start nagging, I'm stuffed! I also have hair that goes mad overnight - needs washing early am if I'm working. Actually, that reminds me I need to set the hot water for earlier. Nothing like a not very warm shower to start me off on a positive note.
