Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

You will get into those trousers

I need stomach exercises also, so hopefully someone will come and tell us what we need to do!

MumHadEnough · 04/02/2009 17:08

Sometimes I think its best to go by your clothes Swedishmum and not obsess about the scales like I do! . I'm on there morning and night.

That way, you know by how you feel and how your clothes feel when you are happy, not what the scales are telling you.

No point me doing stomach exercises as I have this HUGE saggy pouch thing due to ripped muscles with a huge pregnancy and a c-section. I've been offered a tummy tuck on the nhs but to be honest I can't see myself going through that. I'd be a size 10 on bottom if it wasn't for that!

Well chucked the diet today, did my final post holiday weigh in this morning and discovered I'm down to 10st 4lbs , I wasn't expecting that. So I had a chicken mayo baguette for lunch! lol, and I plan on a chinese tonight so I can finish the rest of my packing.

Well I imagine this will be my final post until I return from hols. Now you lot behave yourselfs and I want to see loads of big losses when I return! .

Take care xxxx

MumHadEnough · 04/02/2009 17:09

Pre-holiday weigh in, NOT post [blush. I'm crap!

swedishmum · 04/02/2009 18:36

Have a very happy holiday MHE!
Think I'm a bit beyond stomach exercises too - had 3 children in under 3 years (well, 4 because 1 was dd2's twin who died at 24hrs) then ds was a caesarian 11 months later. He's 12 now so I guess I left it a bit late..... Also have a 5yo. Still,I'm not giving up just yet

ladymariner · 04/02/2009 20:07

Have a fab holiday, MHE, you deserve it!! Look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

Good news here - I went on the cross-trainer again tonight and did 15 mins.

Bad news here - I made 65 chocolate crispy cakes for school fund-raising day on friday but only 60 will make it in!!!

Swedish, you WILL get into those trousers and you will look lovely in them!!!

swedishmum · 05/02/2009 17:13

LM, hope all 60 cakes got there safely
I'm feeling pretty positive at the moment - the only thing I can't give up on totally is caffeine, but I've cut down considerably. It helps that I'm allowed weak vodka and slimline tonic .

swedishmum · 06/02/2009 12:59

Where has everyone gone? I guess you're all out earning money and exercising. I'm probably just a bit bored and MN is more fun than mopping the bathroom floor.

Lulumama · 06/02/2009 13:00

not me, have totally fallen off the wagon, although am really trying to reduce portion sizes

swedishmum · 06/02/2009 13:12

That's got to help. Apparently it's what John Travolta does to shape up for movies - have exactly what he would have had but only half of it. I used to squeeze washing up liquid on dcs leftovers so I didn't pick at them! Right, off to do something useful...

ladymariner · 06/02/2009 19:04

Evening all, havn't been on for a couple of days and it felt really odd, like I was missing something!!

Yes swedish, 60 cakes made it in to school today, and the cake stall combined with a non-uniform day where the kids all paid a pound each raised £350 for our local Bottoms Up appeal, in aid of the bowel cancer unit at our local hospital. The husband of one of my friends at work has that so we felt we should support it really. We all wore really loud ties aswell, the one I wore was one of dh's favourites in the 80's, god its awful!!!

I've been really good since, even though being surrounded by all those cakes today was torture!!! Craved some chocolate yesterday so had a Freddo frog, 5 and a half syns on SW but enough to kill the urge!!

ladymariner · 07/02/2009 18:24

where are you all???????
xxxx

swedishmum · 08/02/2009 22:06

Hi LM - sounds a fun day. Excellent cause too.
Yesterday was my 45th birthday {wrinkly emoticon} and we went to France - drank wine but apart from that I was angelic . Today had a pub roast as was dad's wife's birthday too (she's 83 and fantastic) but I avoided all carbs. Am drinking wine - hey, it's still my birthday w/e - but otherwise sticking entirely to my diet. I now have more of a wardrobe to choose from as more of my clothes fit. Still obviously very very far from being slim, but it does really boost my confidence to know I'm going in the right direction for the first time ever.
Come on you lot - how are you doing?

ladymariner · 08/02/2009 22:13

Totally agree with the wine-drinking-birthday-celebration, hope you've had a very happy birthday, sounds like you have

swedishmum · 08/02/2009 22:59

Just us then

I found an old Slendertone belt in the back of the wardrobe today and bought some new pads on Amazon. Guess it can only help.

ladymariner · 08/02/2009 23:14

Crikey, I'm going to be really thick here and ask what a slendertone belt is???? Is it one of those things that you fasten on and it sort of electrocutes you into shape?

swedishmum · 09/02/2009 13:36

Yep that's the one. Bought it a few years ago and probably used it about 10 times. I'm sure it won't work but seeing I already have it....

bellavita · 09/02/2009 16:00

Where has everyone gone? Have had a crap few days, but I know I can do it! Tomorrow is a fresh day.

ladymariner · 09/02/2009 18:43

For you and me both bella, I've been to sw tonight and stayed the flipping same! So in 4 weeks I've lost 4 and a half, then half, then three then stayed the same, talk about inconsistent!! Perhaps those cakes had their revenge after all

anyway, i shall not be deterred, hopefully I'll lose some next week.

Another fab and dead easy recipe here if anyone's interested, for Pepper and Chicken Bake:

. Slice different coloured peppers, chop some onions and add some garlic, then tip it all into an ovenproof dish.
. Lay chicken breasts on top
. Squeeze the juice and zest of a lemon over the top
. Sprinkle some poppy seeds ove the chicken
. Bake for about half an hour

This is free on a red day

ladymariner · 09/02/2009 18:44

By the way, have you tried your belt out, swedish???

swedishmum · 09/02/2009 22:13

Chicken sounds lovely! My belt kept beeping as it needs new contact pads. They should be here in a couple of days from Amazon. It does feel a bit strange.
Hi Bellavita. Here's to a good day tomorrow!

ladymariner · 09/02/2009 23:05

My belt would beep because it needed more holes punching in it

swedishmum · 10/02/2009 22:24

It's velcro so is liable to ping at any moment from round my waist!
Can't believe everyone else has abandoned the thread!
This is the longest I've ever stuck to a diet. I find breakfast hard on low carb - can't bring myself to eat lardy stuff at that time of the morning so mushrooms are featuring heavily. Food wise I haven't cheated at all - apart from half a strawberry last Saturday. Have had the odd glass of wine though. Ho hum. Threw a top out after wearing today because it's too big. Pity I've still got a very long way to go....

MumHadEnough · 13/02/2009 10:36

Oiiiiiiiiii you lot!!!!!!!! Where are you all?

Back from a fabulous holiday in Egypt and 7lbs heavier, as I suspected. But bloody hell, I need you lot here to get me back on track. Where are you all?

Going to start on Monday again since its Valentine's this weekend but then its my birthday next week so I'll need to be good.

Had a fab time though and it was worth it!

swedishmum · 13/02/2009 11:45

Hi MHE! Glad you had a fantastic holiday. Not many of us left. I'm sure I'd do better if it wasn't for the odd drink and caffeine, but I know if I cut everything out I won't stick to the diet at all! Strangely, I haven't been hungry at all. I hope some more people come back as it really helps me wittering away on here.

ladymariner · 13/02/2009 20:24

Hey, MHE, how the devil are you? Great to have you back, and glad you've had a lovely holiday.

As swedish said, there's not many of us on here at the moment, don't know what's happened to them all but hope this thread keeps going because I neeeeeeeed you all !!!

I stayed the same at class this week, so annoyed but have stuck to it this week so hoping for a loss on monday. keep everything crossed for me please! Played badminton with dh last night, he had me running all over the court so hope that has made a difference, it better have cos I was knackered!!!!
